You wanted it, you get it: GUS, a GPS for slideshow authors,

First, we definitely need a precision grid to do this type thing well. It's necessary to match image positions and sizes nearly perfectly from end of slide one to beginning of slide two, etc.

GUS, Grid Utility for Slideshows, is a new freeware dedicated to this problem. It is totally independent from any other program. You can even use it with PhotoShop.

Two langages available: English and French.

GUS is a software which displays a grid (on transparent background of course), always floating on top of all the windows opened by other applications.

If necessary, it is possible to launch more than one GUS program with various parameters, enabling the overlaying of the grids.

- The grid step can be adjusted from 16 to 512 pixels.

- Line thickness can be set from 1 to 3 pixels, and its color can be selected (except LIME color). A second color can be used for every 5th line of the grid.

- It is possible to move the grid pixel by pixel in 4 directions for more accurate positioning than by moving the window itself. A button cancels cell shifting.

- The size can be adjusted using the standard Windows procedure by dragging the sides or the tops of the window. Button 'Adjust' expands grid size to window size. The size of the grid is displayed at the bottom left corner.

- The toolbar on the left can be hidden. To restore the toolbar, click on the small icon in the upper left corner or restart the program.

- To create a reference mark (target) click exactly on a line of the grid. To select a target click exactly in its center. Selected target can be deleted or moved using arrows.

- Each time GUS is launched, the previous settings are restored. They are saved in file GUS.INI being in the same directory, allowing the retrieval of the same configuration.

- Once the operation of the software (which is after all very easy) is mastered, tooltips can be masked.

- Although there is no 'minimize' icon, it is always possible to minimize, maximize and then restore the window to its previous state by activating the system menu with a right click on the title bar or the task bar.

Thank you Jean-Claude !

I've seen that in the latest version, you have added 'Targets' to the menu. Could you explain what is the use of this 'Target' function and how it works?

Sorry if this is a stupid question... -_-

Merci

what is the use of this 'Target' function and how it works?

You can add as many targets as you want on the grid. This targets are reference marks, and if your grid is drawed

with its upper left top in adress 0,0 of PC screen, they constitute absolute points of reference on your screen.

When you close GUS, this values are saved in GUS.INI file and you can retrieve them.

So with this targets, you can construct exact overlaying of objects in PTE O&A, from one main image to another.

You can also use them with Photoshop or another program.

Ken, Al, Paul, Lin, Gogs, John, Gérard,

Thank you very much for your compliments. I hope GUS will be useful for the slideshow authors.
