These drivers do not respect color profiles. Igor has been working on a solution for some time. Search the forum for "ATI Gamma Fix" (with quotation marks). Try out if the effect vanishes if you use windowed mode!Kind regardsXaher H.Munich Quote
Conflow Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Felix,So all your other 'Digital Photo Programs' are running O.K ~ thats a good sign. But you do not give 'exact' details of your Desktop Computer ?Please let us know:-1)Maker and Model No: of your Desktop PC. (On rear of PC)2)Maker and Model No: of its Graphic Card (if you know). This data will speed up a solution to your PTE problem.Brian.Conflow. Quote

WnSoft works on a solution to be integrated into the PTE engine, and this would help on any computer with ATI card.Best regardsXaverMunichBy the way: Are you German? Quote
CorVdK Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Hello to all,It's all about the ATI cards, we have the same problem as Felix described with the computer of our photoclub. I have a computer with Vista and NVidia card and a show made with the "clubcomputer" is playing OK on my machine (correct colors). These drivers do not respect color profiles. Igor has been working on a solution for some time. Search the forum for "ATI Gamma Fix" (with quotation marks). Try out if the effect vanishes if you use windowed mode! The "ATI Gamma Fix" did not have worked for our "clubcomputer", the problem stays. This is: Color change when starting EXE file, or color change when launching preview of show.Everything stays normal (normal colors on the screen in PTE) during the use of PTE, until the launching of the preview. And yes, on this "clubcomputer" other programs as M-Objects (is other slideshow producer), Photoshop and the included photo showing tools of Windows are working fine (all correct colors).if somebody gets a show created by me and uses an ati radeon card, he will have the same problem like me? Yes.so he has to install the fix? Yes, we have to wait the solution of Igor, I'm afraid.Greetings,Cor Quote
Lin Evans Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 somebody gets a show created by me and uses an ati radeon card, he will have the same problem like meNot necessarily. This doesn't happen with "all ATI Graphics Cards". I have variously the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, two systems using integrated Intel Graphics chipsets, one system using an Nvidia 8600GT OC and one using an Nvidia 8800GT card. All work perfectly with PTE shows. If you want to post your show or provide a link, etc., I will be glad to let you know how it performs on my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro.Best regards,Lin Quote
Conflow Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 Hi Guys,This topic was started by 'Felix' and it seems that everybody is assuming that his PC has an ATI Graphics Card !!Not one to deal in assumptions, I have asked him what Make & Model is his PC ? and who made his Graphics Card ?I am still waiting for his answer...Surely in these circumstances, its always more prudent to establish the 'facts' before the 'assumptions' then atleast we are not wasting time on pure conjecture. If it is an 'ATI Card' ~ then well and good, at least you might be on the right track...However if its a problem with Pte 5.1 and it had some, which were later corrected in Pte 5.2....then that could be another matter all together.Just a thought ~ lets get the facts before the fiction ~ and proof evident of this is in Lins Posting above.Brian.Conflow. xahu34 Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 Just a remark on the ATI problem,In our family we have a seven year old PC (Win XP SP2) having a GC with an ATI rage128 chipset (not to be recommended for PRZ). Here, when using PTE in the D3D fullscreen mode, two independent effects occur: The loaded colour profile is gone, and an increase of lightness occurs. As far as I remember, this effect was also reported by Al Robinson, last year. When running shows in D3D windowed mode, the problems vanish. I already asked for a further PTE option, the “simulated fullscreen mode”, (a window with masks that automatically fits to the monitor, maybe m.objects does it this way), but Igor does not seem to like it that much.Let us wait and see what will happen!Best regards,XaverMunich Quote
Conflow Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 Peter,No, I don't have that Post on this HP Portable nor is it showing up on our Main PC's in our Workshops. That's strange, but it could be the security set-up on our Server, and if it is, thats a 1st...Many thanks for bringing this to my attention.Attachment to above Post 11:40 am.Found that No:4 Post in our Server Holding-Bin. I have absolutely no idea (yet) why it isending up in there, I have to follow that up. That also answers my 'assumption' ~ it just goes to show how we can walk into things led by PC's.Many Thanks again,Brian. Quote

CorVdK Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 Hello again,Concerning the ATI Grafic-card: 256MB Radeon x1950 of our "clubcomputer"and concerning the disappearing of the colors by launching the PTE EXE files and launching previews, after some tests I noticed an other phenomenon:Everything is working fine, perfect colours, with a CRT 17" monitorbut the problem occur when I uncouple the CRT monitor and connect our new Samsung flat screen 22" SyncMaster 223BW.Very strange (?????).Greetings,Cor Quote
Conflow Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 CorYou said,quoted....."Our New Samsung Flat Screen 22" SyncMaster 223BW"....Have you downloaded or installed the special Drivers for this Monitor ? or areyou running this from the (generic) Microsoft VGA Drivers ?Samsung TFT's and their LCD Colour Monitors have different Driver architecturesthan the rest of the VDU Industry and I very much doubt if your 'PC Driver Library'has these special drivers installed. To check this you need to open 'Control-Panel'-->Select-->System-->Hardware Tabthen-->Device Manager-->Find your Display Adapters-->LH.Click the little '+'-oppositeeach one-->Now RH.Click each Adapter and select 'Properties'. This will show you what Drivers are installed for each Monitor you are using. I bet you won't find Samsung in there and thats your problem.Brian.Conflow. Quote
CorVdK Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 Hello Brian,Thank you for your advice.Have you downloaded or installed the special Drivers for this Monitor ?Yes, we have done that. We even have 2 programs from Samsung (from the CD-rom that came with the flat screen) to make our own ICC profiles. We made 5 different ones for the Samsung, we tried a common sRGB, etc. With the different ICC profiles we have seen the colors change on the Samsung screen and those colors stay uniform during different programs, photo's, during use of PTE, etc. BUT when we start a PTE EXE file or a preview, colors where faded everytime. When the EXE is stopped, colors are back and OK.There were drivers on the CD-rom too, we loaded and activated them. To be up-to-date we loaded also the driver from the Samsung page "http://www.samsung.com/nl/products/monitor/lcdmonitors/widescreen/223bw.asp". We tested the analog and digital driver version but all the same result.I have looked in Control panel, the path as you mentioned, and under the properties we see or the CRT monitor, or the flat screen (as we connected them). Also under the screen properties we see as monitor, or the standard monitor (the CRT), or the Samsung by name. In the advanced settings the correct monitor is highlighted.By the way we use XP SP2 Home version. When we connect a Sony beamer on the ATI videocard everything is fine, fantastic colors as with the CRT.Very, very strange.Greetings,Cor Quote
Conflow Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 Cor,Can I get this correct:-1)Did you run the PTE Show throught the 'Beamer' from the PC and it was perfect ???or am I in error ? please let me know...2)Another matter, some Members had similar problems as yours when using Pte.5.1 butthese vanished when they changed over to Pte.5.2 ~ they recreated a new Program in 5.2. Its worth a try to download 5.2 and make a 10 Slide Show for Test purposes.3)I worked out a small 'Check-Test' to see if the Monitor is defaulting to Windows-Driverswhen running PTE and 'if' in fact the PC has actually taken-up the new Samsung Drivers. When loading 'Drivers' ~ Always "Unplug" your Internet connection ~ Disable your Anti-Virus and Disable your XP-Firewall because these sometimes 'block' such dynamic-downloads.See "Attachment" below.Brian.Conflow. CorVdK Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 Hello Brian,Thank you so much for your efforts.I can confirm we are using now PTE v5.1Can I get this correct:-1)Did you run the PTE Show throught the 'Beamer' from the PC and it was perfect ???or am I in error ? please let me know...Yes, I connected the Sony beamer to the VGA connector and the colors are fine and remain OK during the PTE EXE file and the preview of a show launched from PTE.It's a pity but for the moment I can not change the PTE version on the computer or do other tests because our club building is closed until Tuesday, April 15. As you asked, I'll do the version change to 5.2 and do your 'Check-Test' on Tuesday and report the next day.Thank's again.Greetings,Cor Quote
Conflow Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 Cor,Thanks for your reply acknowledgement ~ I shall wait until Tuesday etc..Just a comment:- If everything is OK on the 'Beamer' driven from the VGA Socket, then definitely its a 'Monitor Driver' problem. Its my guess that XP is not picking up the New-Drivers or they may be in the wrong Directory. The 'Check-List' I sent you should identify which VGA-Adapter is drivingthe Monitor, and from there we can find out if the Monitor-Drivers are in that VGA's Directory.Fingers crossed,Brian.Conflow.
