jeffandtammymac Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I just purchased the $75 version of Pix2exe because I've been trying for a month to transfer the current version that I had from one computer to the next and just gave up. I've now received an email that says the key is attachead and it wasn't. There was just some coding at the bottom of the email and I tried to imput that into the "load key" in several different ways and nothing. All I can figure is that either 1) I have the wrong trial version downloaded (all I could find was the pix2exe 5.7 I think on the website, not a professional version) or 2) I don't actually have the key as it says to save the attachment to a folder and there is no attachment. I'm really frustrated. Any thoughts what I'm doing wrong? Thanks so much for your help.Tammy Quote

jeffandtammymac Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Posted March 4, 2009 Regarding this quote in your link - If the e-mail contains text that looks like the above then that is your key. Use a text editor such as Notepad to create a new file. Then copy the text string from the e-mail and paste it into your new document (You need everything from ‘REGEDIT4’ up to and including the final double quote mark at the end of the long string of characters). Now save this file as ‘reg.reg’ and run it as if it were a program. This will create the necessary registry item to hold the key for your copy of PTE.That's what I got unfortunately rather than the actual attachment. What is shown at the bottom though looks to be keys to two different progragms. This is what it looks like - REGEDIT4[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WnSoft\VideoBuilder]"Key"="0AjiDT0zuNN/-----"[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PTE]"Key"="0WaZQVDLmAyGw0FbBkq----"I copied this entire thing and pasted it into notepad. In notepad I only had the option to save as a txt or all documents. I really appreciate your help. I've trid to get help via wnsoft, to no avail. I can't begin to tell you how frustrated I am at this point. I've never downloaded a program that was this much hassle to register. Quote
davegee Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Try changing the name from "Reg.txt" to "reg.reg" in Windows Explorer. Alternatively you can type reg.reg into the file name when you "save as".You appear to have both the basic PTE reg key and the VideoBuilder reg key in one file.DaveG Quote
nobeefstu Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Tammy,I can't begin to tell you how frustrated I am at this point. I've never downloaded a program that was this much hassle to register.Sorry you are having such a problem getting this sorted. You can mainly blame your mail setting or isp service for blocking your mail attachments .... thus complcating the normal installation key process. You have 2 registration keys ... so you need to make 2 txt key files. One is for PTE program - use yourREGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PTE]"Key"="0WaZQVDLmAyGw0FbBkq----" and copy and save as Pte key.txt as Peter described.Second is for Video Builder upgrade - use your REGEDIT4[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WnSoft\VideoBuilder]"Key"="0AjiDT0zuNN/-----" and copy and save as VideoBuilder key.txt as Peter described.Once you save both keys copy them to the PTE program folder : -First you must open PTE program and submit/supply the Pte key.txt file to register it.-Second you must open Video Builder and submit/supply the VideoBuilder key.txt file to register it.Close programs and reopen ... you are now registered.** Make sure you save your keys in a safe place for rentention* I have modified the post to make sure you include REGEDIT4 in the key copy Quote
jeffandtammymac Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Posted March 4, 2009 Thanks Dave. So when I do my copy/paste do I use both or just the one? I was trying to buy the professional version. I'm a photographer and use Pix2exe all of the time to proof to customers, but thought it might be cool to give my HS seniors an option to put the slideshow on their ipods which is the only reason that I bought the video builder. I'll still be able to do my picture slideshows on that one, right? And am I still downloading the trial of the standard pix2exe because I didn't see an option to download the trial for the video builder. I'm not quite sure why this is all so confusing. Quote
jeffandtammymac Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Posted March 4, 2009 Bless you guys for being so patient with me. Photography is my thing and I'm not always as computer literate as I would like to be, other than photoshop. So by - "and copy and save as Pte key.txt" - am I typing this information into the "File name" section of notepad (because that is blank) or is this supposed to show up in "save types"? Is there an installing pte key for dummies anywhere that I can purchase? Quote
nobeefstu Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Tammy,Copy and paste the key information in your email message into a new blank opened .txt file like thisREGEDIT4[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PTE]"Key"="0WaZQVDLmAyGw0FbBkq----" save as Pte key.txt REGEDIT4[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WnSoft\VideoBuilder]"Key"="0AjiDT0zuNN/-----" save as VideoBuilder key.txt** I did not use the .key extention as DaveG decribed besause some users PC's setting also restrict running this file extention ... thus further adding to your possible confusion ** Pte makes only one program for all ( no special demos or pro versions.) The different Keys enable the features. Quote
