PTE video converter

I am so thankful for Igor's addition of the built-in video converter in PTE Version 7 beta! Saves me untold headaches. Now beyond this converter, I need suggestions from forum members for a third party video editor for one specific purpose. I have some very dark, night-time videos, that I need to lighten up (make visible) to include in PTE. Using VLC Player I am able to adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, gamma, successfully for viewing but I can not save the adjusted video image! Does anyone have a recommended (freeware or other) program that is simple to adjust and save the improved video before running the PTE video converter on it?

Xmedia Recode seems to have that ability and more. I would not encode twice because of quality concerns.

Thank you Tom! I've easily accomplished the immediate task with it. It made the light & color adjustments easily, and the encoding seemed fast on the small file I was adjusting.

IF other members have other favorites, I'd like also to learn of those.

I use Sony Vegas Pro but it is not cheap, although there are reasonably-priced consumer versions of it. I suggest you monitor http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/ for a few days as they have video converters very often. When you find one you like you have it for free and can just uninstall the others.
