Please anybody can send us this article? http://www.beckhamforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1217 -
Steve, As I've understood this problem (even now DVD writer not attached to Firewire) doesn't happens always, only rarely? Please try another RW discs, not Memorex. Probably we'll buy another burning library for the next version to get better result.

Please let me know your web sites where we can find Tutorials for PicturesToExe 5.0 (direct link to web page or link to a page where presented links to several turorials). Patrick, PicturesToExe 1.0 was released in 1999 (8 years ago) and it was before wide spreading of digital photography. I remember as I scanned my 10x15 photos to make slide shows. And quality of many scanners also were not enough good. In earlier 2001 we added Fade in/out transition effect. It worked smoothly only on powerful PCs. In 2007 we added Pan/Zoom effects and only video cards released in 2002 and later capable to play ideally smooth these effects. We always balance on edge and create product for nearest future which appears when new technologies open new possibilities. I still consider that having "Hardware acceleration" disabled (and excluding some variations of Mosaic effect) v5.00 can operate better than v4.48 Also in v5.00 you can easily burn DVD-Video discs which play anywhere. However anybody welcome to compare and discuss v4.48 vs. v5.00 but please friendly and with arguments
-
Now instead zero time of a slide you should set "Stop at the end of this slide" option. I'll correct code and old v4.48 projects with zero time of slides will be converted to use this option on such slides.

PicturesToExe Deluxe v5.00 Beta 18: http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/apr-deluxe.zip (4 MB) It's a Release Candidate 2 New features in v5.00 http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4327 What new in Beta 18 + Small improvements. * Fixed crashing of main program of PicturesToExe on some rare JPEG files (incorrect detecting of EXIF fields). * Fixed problem with wrong detection of duration of MP3 music in WAV file with non-standard bitrate (for example 20 kbit). * Fixed two minor bugs. Please post bug-reports in special topic: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6455

Yes, in v5.00 we added simple protection of EXE file of slide shows. And if EXE file damaged (not fully downloaded for example) or infected you will see warning when try to run this EXE file.

Lin, Matrox video cards are very slow in hardware accelerated 3D mode. We can't do anything with it. But now when Windows Vista released Matrox will prepare more fast video cards to be able operate in new 3D Aero Glass user interface.

You can press Ctrl-A in Slide list to select all slides, then click "Customize slide" button and choose "Stop at the end of a slide". Click OK. And every slide will wait for key press to go to a next slide.

I apologize, but unfortunately it's impossible to optimize Mosaic effect when "Use hardware acceleration" option disabled. In v4.48 we used special optimizations, but now when v5.00 allows Pan/Zoom effects, copyright logo and partially transparent Navigation bar over slide, it can't be used more. Probably we can do something in next 5.1 but it will take vast time for investigations. For hardware accelerated mode (and on modern video cards) we'll optimize Mosaic in v5.1 But if you use Mosaic effect with parameters like 8 x 8 and appearance 4, this effect should work as before. Sorry.

Thanks, I think it will be useful to remind ATI every month about this problem. On this page ATI asked to report about problems in drivers and we can follow by their request
-
Patrick, I'll compare Mosaic effect in v4.48 and v5.00 on Monday. Maybe it will possible to optimize it. Please give me parameters you used for this effect and duration of the effect.

Please send your response on this problem to ATI here: http://support.ati.com/ics/survey/survey.a...86&type=web In several words: slide shows created in PicturesToExe 5 use fullscreen Direct 3D mode and ATI drivers for Windows XP in this mode ignore color calibration which adjusted for desktop. This problem don't occur on NVIDIA or INTEL video cards.
-
Please don't use "Original size" mode of images. If you will take 853x480 image and set "Fit to slide" (as by default) you will get 16:9 AVI video (without strips).

Help running PTE embedded actions via MS Vista?
Igor replied to rick4pte's topic in General Discussion
Thanks, I'm very glad! We already modified code of PicturesToExe in new beta 17 and now open dialog via browse button will make file name without path if this EXE file located in same folder where located main EXE file of current slide show. It seems that old code in previous betas couldn't correctly process absolute path and find EXE file in some cases. Anyway now since beta 17 such problem should not happen any more. -
We plan to improve global timeline. And you will able to add any tracks (at any place of timeline) with simple effects (fade in/out, cropping). New music player we added to v5.00 allows these effects. v5.10 or v5.20

Beta 17 available.
