I guess you tried to use that option in windowed mode? This option - "Show transition to desktop after last slide" - works only for full screen mode or windowed mode without borders (as you found).

Tim, sorry I so late with my answer. It possible that PTE's built-in mp3 player doesn't support some rare combinations of frequency/bitrate/stereo modes/VBR. However the most pleasant particularity, that if such rare MP3 file doesn't work, it will not under any PC. And on the contrary - if works fine, works fine on all PCs.

In the future we hope to using our own MPEG2 encoder to fully solve all cases of these strange problems. I apologize for such difficulties.

Please remind me (int_support@) after a month, if beta still is not ready, I at least will send your prior documentation, screenshots of new settings, and a list of main new features. We can't create EXE with slide-show at this moment, all new features in state of hundred separated blocks.

Bill, let me express my deep gratitude to you!

Harold, Yes, we're closely working on the next version. It's very difficult work. We never done like this complex task. Right today I started to implement graphical interface for customization of Pan/Zoom/Rotate motion effects. Also we have seen how these effects work, they look very terrific and I'm very impatient to finalize next version, as soon as possible! There were (and are) many difficult moments. As author may wishes, new slides should be loaded on the fly, because all slide-show can contains *continuous* non-stop Pan/Zoom effect across slides. It's separate serious problem in Windows. Also all code of slide-show viewer will be fully rewritten (first time since v3.00 five years ago). Because of this I hope the first beta will be ready in 4-6 weeks.

Currently we have no plans about adding of JPEG 2000 support to PicturesToExe. There is main reason not to do it: Much slower loading of JPEG2000 images. Aproximatelly in 4 times! Because better compression algorithms in JPEG2000 take more CPU time. It's not suitable for slide-show at all. p.s. I've created test JPEG2000 file (42 KB) using IrfanView and JPEG2000 plug-in and usual JPEG (also about 42 KB). Both from BMP file 512x512 768 KB. I found that JPEG2000 image has blurred areas in some places, but JPEG looks as BMP original in same places. The only thing that I found that JPEG2000 looks better than JPEG on very low file size, then JPEG has terrible artefacts, but JPEG2000 looks much better. But for usual purposes I see no reason to use JPEG2000. It's my personal opinion, of course.

You are right, it happens because PicturesToExe start playback of a next music file instantly after finishing of previous file. No delay. So if your sound files don't contain usual silence moments at beginning and end, then such "effect" may occurs. However I'll try to reproduce it to test again. Thanks,

Bill, Thank you for your great work! Please let me know if we can help with payment for another server or help something else.

When any trial period expires (date, days or numbers of runs), this EXE file will not work anymore. Setting the clock back will not get it working again. However experienced programmer or hacker can breaks any limitation as you know. But it requires additional time and skills and not each can do it.

Please write your 3-7 main suggestions (in order of importance) for the new Visual editor of objects (in the next version of PicturesToExe). I plan to start this work in late July and fully rewrite it.
-
Ron, I also thought exactly about this idea three days ago! Please wait when we finish new graphical engine and new navigation bar. I have several interesting ideas concerning your suggestion and I will glad to discuss it together (a little bit later).

I just you sent a letter with special test which help to solve problem with Edirol USB sound device.
-
I only forgotten to remove "Loading..." text edit from "Messages" tab in the Project options. This minor moment will be corrected in the next version.
-
Harold, Turn off "Auto Adding of New Transition Points for New Slides" option ("Cust. synch. window" | "View" button | popup menu) and PTE will not automatically add new points when you add new slide to the Slide list. And timeline will work exactly as earlier.
-
Ok, I'll think about other variants and we'll discuss a little later here, how to realize it better. Thanks.

If your second application located in some folder, slide-show automatically find and run it (even if you give absolute path using drive letter). If you have C:\First folder\Main app.exeand C:\First folder\Second Folder App\Test application.exe use relative path to second application which you want to run. Write the next command line (don't forget about double quotas symbols): "Second Folder App\Test application.exe"

I'm with great pleasure working on new Navigation bar for the new version. The key features: + Absolutely fully customizable view, size, form with skins support. + Sound volume, progress, mute, Run. app. buttons, hyperlinks. + Even ability to assign own Navigation bar to each slide (several different Nav. bars in one slide-show). + And several other terrific features and effects which I will not speak now about (new graphical engine will make them possible).

v4.42 is usual update of PicturesToExe and designed for all users. Install it and use for your new projects. EXE files created with previous versions of PicturesToExe didn't work under professional sound card RME DIGI9652. Now slide-shows created with v4.42 work even on PCs with such rare sound card.

Thank you, Roger! Nice tutorial. We can add an URL on our web site.

PicturesToExe v4.42 http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/apr.zip (1,4 MB) What's new in v4.42: * Fixed problem with lockings up on PCs with professional sound card RME DIGI9652. Thanks to Tim Z who said us about this problem. + Added Finnish language. + Updated German and Polish language files.
-
I suppose, the maximal attention in such professional cards is intended for main professional purpose. Opposite usual inexpensive/game sound cards more carefully tested with wide range of softwares/games. I'll try to find to buy RME Digi9652 sound card to test how PTE works there! It a little bit difficult and may takes a month or so.
-
Tim, Thanks for testing! (I just sent you more detailed letter.) Yes, as I know, RME Digi9652 is a very professional card for sound processing. But probably mainly it is not intended for usual music playback, if you say that ProShow also often doesn't play music. ProShow uses DirectSound API for music playback, PicturesToExe uses much more reliable WaveOut API. So some mistakes in RME drivers don't allow correct playback of music. By the way, how other programs play music? WinAmp or Microsoft Media Player. Maybe new version of sound drivers for RME Digi9652 will help? I believe there should be solution of this problem!
-
Tim, I apologize for this problem and we'll try to solve it. Yes, it seems that problem because of this professional sound card. Maybe it's our reason or maybe not enough compatible drivers for music playback. 1) What version of Windows you have installed? 2) Please say me again concerning ProShow. Will their .EXE slide-show with MUSIC work and play on your PC? 3) I just sent you a letter with two test applications. Please let me know about result.
