Hi, Nested opacity is a new option introduced in PTE AV Studio 11. This option allows to control a common opacity for a group of objects. Enable a Nested opacity for a parent object, add one or several objects as child objects. Now when you adjust an Opacity for a parent object, all child objects will be rendered with a common opacity, as glued layers in Photoshop. Earlier you could implement this effect with a Mask container. Now this task can be done more easily with a Nested opacity option. Also this option is useful for a Text caption with a shadow when adjust opacity to show or hide a text caption. A sample project is attached. A comparison: NestedOpacity.pte

Hi Tom, Thanks for this interesting info regardig HW AV1 encoder. P.S. When first version of PTE was released, the most powerful graphics card from NVIDIA had only 32 MB of graphics memory. MB not GB

Pascal, Very nice effects, thanks!

Alex, thanks for these details. If any freezing will occur again, please send me a personal message. If it possible, please attach a project where it occured (all files in a ZIP). Also see my reply to Jill above, try to wait 30-60 seconds to see if freezing will disappear automatically itself.
-
Jill, I just thought that it can be some delay, not freezing. Especially if some linked project files were located on a network drive, or HDD drive. If it will occur again on your computer, or John's computer, please try to wait a minute to see if it help. Please let me know about a result. Usually I work with files from SSD drives only and I very rarely face with any freezings, even during software development of PTE. I guess that some freezings could be a delay with reading a file from a network or HDD drive due to some reason in Windows OS or antivirus activity. Anyway, I'll try to reproduce this issue on our computers to find exact reason.

Jill, thanks for the details. We'll try to reproduce this issue.

Hi Jill, Thanks for letting me know. 1. Do I understand rightly, PTE 11 Beta doesn't work less stable as previous PTE 10/10.5? And sometimes freezings occur in all 3 versions? 2. How often this problem occurs? 3. Did you observe any freezing with a desktop computer and PTE? Not on a laptop. I didn't see any freezings with PTE 11 Beta for least one month on my PCs and two Macs. I guess that less stable work of PTE 10/11 can be on laptops with dual Intel + NVIDIA graphics, as PTE intensively uses GPU graphics acceleration for the interface fo PTE and for rendering a preview. We fixed one problem with freezing in Beta 2 or 3 when copy/paste a slide with a text object. It's difficult to reproduce this issue, but it happened sometimes. We finally fixed it.

I apologize for this problem. We'll think how to avoid this situation in future, when user manually move a storage of styles and transitions. I'll write a little later. We recommend to make a backup of a folder with styles and transitions.

Hi Alex, I'm glad that you like and actively use the new PTE AV Studio 11 Beta! Can you tell in more details about this problem with crashes? Did it occur with Beta 3 or newer? We fixed the problem with crashes when you copy a slide with a text captions since Beta 3. It occured rarely but we could track this issue and fix it. If any crashes occur with Beta 4 or 5, please let me know. Currently, we don't observe any crashes since Beta 3. Tick Nested opacity option for a parent object (Rectangle object, for example). Add child objects into a Rectangle object. Now if you adjust opacity for the parent object(Rectangle) - all this group objects will has a common opacity as glued layers in Photoshop. I attach below a screenshot which explains how it works:

Resulting bit rate when you use "Quality" option depends on a content (static picture, or animation, any motion). You can download my video file above and explore Mediainfo. In that example, I didn't use any animation or transitions. If I add a Dissolve transition, it increases resulting bit rate automatically.
-
"Quality" option is a next generation mode than VBR mode. It operates in a highest range of bit rate. For example, I encoded a simple show from 2 pictures at 1920 x 1080, 30p. In "Quality" mode it uses average bit rate = 388 kbit (0.3 Mbit). 16 seconds and total file is only 765 KB. It's very hard to calculate optimal CBR or VBR bit rate manually. Of course, if your project contains dynamic scenes, video content, you encode 4K video, the resulting file with "Quality" mode may use high bit rate values, for example, 20 mbit, or 40 mbit. A little magic. Flowers-16s.mp4

Hi Eric, I checked the Mac version of PTE AV Studio 11 Beta today. In the Preferences I chosen "Light Mode" and restarted PTE AV Studio. All windows, popup menus, Save As window are now in Light (white) color scheme. No dark windows. Note, that if you choose a Dark Mode in settings of macOS for all apps, some windows in PTE AV Studio will be in Dark mode in PTE (menus and Save/Save As windows). The same for Windows 10/11. Also note, that even with a Dark Mode some small windows in PTE AV Studio stay bright (white) for better constrast with a parent dark window. For example, drop down lists, font list, Publish menu. Main menu and popup menus. This behaviour didn't change in PTE AV Studio 11.

We recommend to use the Quality compression mode for video encoding (settings by default). It's a smart option which uses more bit rate automatically for a complex scene (or scene with fast motions), and less bit rate for a static pictures or picture with large solid areas. It works like a JPEG compression in Photoshop where you set a desired Quality between 1-12 levels. Setting Quality "7" for a JPEG you'll get different final file size depending on a content and fine details in a picture, even for for the same pixel size (width/height).

When you work with previous version 10.5 do you see all your custom styles and transitions?

We fixed this problem in Beta 5 today. Let me know about a result. -
Fullscreen Filelist not displaying used files - Beta 4 [SOLVED]
Igor replied to jkb's topic in PTE AV Studio 11 Beta
Jill, we fixed this problem in Beta 5 today. -
We published new Beta 5 where you can use 2 new built-in presets for a Displacement Map effect: - Waves - Circle Waves You can customize a number of waves.
-
Beta 5 is available See the download links above. Added 2 customizable presets for a Displacement Map effect: Waves and Circle Waves Fixed problem with displaying used files in a full screen view of the File list (F3 key). Fixed problem with a Mask container (opacity) inside another Mask container (Displacement Map).

Alpha Mask inside Displacement Container [SOLVED]
Igor replied to jt49's topic in PTE AV Studio 11 Beta
Hi, I confirm this issue. Thanks -
Hi, In PTE AV Studio 11 we added 4 improvements in the Styles and Themes window. Firstly, when you apply a complex style which requires several images, you can see a simple explanation how many images you need to use. 6+ images or 6,12,18,... images. Click the "Add Images" button if there are not enough images. 2. Styles and Themes window now includes a File List where you can re-arrange images, remove images, or add more images: 3. In the main window, it's possibly to quickly apply a slide style for selected images in the File List and add slides to your project: 4. When you selected several non-consecutive slides (for example 1, 3, 7, etc) and apply a single style (which uses 1 picture), it's possible to keep original order of slides. Tick and option "Keep slide order":

Simulation of a curved paper map using a Displacement Map effect in PTE AV Studio 11. I used a new built-in preset Circles Waves which will appear in Beta 5. To be honest, this tool is not ideal for this task, because the Displacement Map effect was optimized for a fullscreen images, and without rotation in 3D space.

Very good simulation of water waves!

Jill, Try the following solution. When you open this project, click Save button. It should fix file names for missing files in a .pte project file. If the problem still occur, call Save As command in the same folder. Keep only one slide where you see missing images, remove other slides. Restart PTE, if you still observe this problem, please send me this modified .pte project and images which should be located on this slide.
