Slide styles and Themes button not working [SOLVED]
Igor replied to Barry Beckham's topic in Troubleshooting
Barry, If this problem will occur again, please send me two folders in a ZIP: 1. PTE AV Studio folder from Program Files 2. Styles and Transitions (from Documents folder). -
Tom, Yes, Apple Silicon (A12Z CPU) is very fast. It stays cool and quiet even in 3D games like Oceanhorn 2 and when I encoded video in PTE 10. Regrettably I can't publish any measurements according NDA signed for Apple. I tried to create an Universal Binary format - the same application for Intel and ARM Macs. It simply doubles file size of the installation package. So it's a difficult choice - offer an universal PTE which weights 100 MB, or two installation files for Intel (50 MB) and ARM Macs (50 MB).
-
Tom, I can't say about Universal Binary format right now, because all development tools for Apple Silicon are in early Beta versions. Probably Universal Binary format will mean double file size of the installation file. Regarding Windows. The most likely, adapting of PTE code for ARM CPU will not be too hard, because we'll do the same job for Apple Silicon now.

Today I've compiled first ARM version of PTE AV Studio for future Macs with Apple Silicon. It has some issues, but the main code already works on my Mac for developers with Apple Silicon CPU. The speed and smoothness are great. Intel version of PTE AV Studio for Mac also works fine on Apple Silicon in emulation. This emulation is invisible for users. It just works as native application for ARM CPU. So PTE AV Studio will be available for any Macs - with traditional Intel CPU or with future Apple Silicon CPU.
-
Tom, I think PTE 10 should work on ARM Windows in emulation of 64-bit Intel code. Yesterday I launched PTE 10 compiled for Intel 64-bit on Mac with ARM CPU (Apple Silicon). It works fine in emulation (x86-64 -> ARM64).

Today I received a special Mac with Apple Silicon CPU for developers. So now we can start a work to adapt a native code of PTE AV Studio for ARM CPU in future Mac computers. I tried to run PTE AV Studio (for Intel) on this Mac and it works almost well - we only need to fix one problem and everything else seems to work fine even in emulation - instructions for Intel CPU are being translated for ARM CPU on the fly when you run any "old" application. First Mac with Apple Silicon CPU is planned for the end of this year for all customers. I'm impressed how well macOS works on ARM CPU.

Hi Gary, I recommend to import transitions in the Project Options and then click the OK button. It will not change any existing transitions in your project. I agree that behaviour in the Slide Options it not ideal. Brobably it would better to disable import of any transitions in this window and leave it only in the Project Options?

How to install PTE on computer without internet
Igor replied to AVMalcolm's topic in General Discussion
Internet connection is required to perform one time activation of PTE AV Studio for the correct work. -
Hi Paul, I just sent you personal message with your license key (for PicturesToExe Deluxe 8).

H.265 and H.266 are heavily patented for many years. I hope that AV1 will replace all these codecs, because AV1 is a new open codec supported by Microsoft, Google, Apple and other companies. New TVs, media players declared support of AV1 in new models since 2020.

Hi Ralph, I just sent you a personal message with your license key for PicturesToExe Deluxe 9. We apologize for the problem with our missing emails! Did you use ralph...@....net.com address in the Contact Us form? I couldn't find your ticket, sorry.
-
Tom, Yes, the code of PTE will be converted once to ARM instructions on installation.

We ordered a special Mac with a new Apple Silicon CPU for developers. It should arrive in 2 weeks. So it will allow us to check a work of PTE AV Studio on Mac with a new ARM CPU and adapt the code for the best performance. Officially, the first Mac with Apple Silicon CPU will be available for sales at the end of this year.

There is not enough maneuver to place the logo.
Igor replied to vbl2007's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
It will be possible when we introduce multiple tracks for objects. It will allow to place a logo on a top track and adjust it, even with animation. -
Thanks, Tom, we'll try to fix these issues.

How PTE "choose" the graphics card to work with?
Igor replied to orizaba's topic in General Discussion
Jose, I'm glad that your laptop works faster with PTE now. Do you have AMD Radeon Control panel? If yes, check again for any options to enable best performance mode for 3D apps. Check your settings according this article: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/customize/desktop/customize-power-slider Also another reason of reduced performance in 3D apps - dust inside cooling system of a laptop. -
Dom, Simply recreate this style. I recommend to keep a source project which you used to create this style. In this case, when you recreate the style (Ctrl+J hotkey) PTE will automatically offer existing style name, category, description, author name, and other parameters. So I press Ctrl+J, OK, Confirm to Replace. That's all.

How PTE "choose" the graphics card to work with?
Igor replied to orizaba's topic in General Discussion
Jose, Try to update Windows 10 to the latest version v2004 (May 2020). I already installed this update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028685/windows-10-get-the-update -
Barry, Thanks for the original project and created slide style. I reproduced this problem. Original slides for the styles didn't use "Scale key frames..." mode in the Slide Options. It causes this problem. If I enable this mode and re-create a style, everything works correctly. We kept unticked mode "Scale key frames..." mainly for compatibility and slide styles were intended for work with scaling of keyframes. We'll try to fix this problem, but I'm not sure that we can quickly fix this old code without adding new issues.

How PTE "choose" the graphics card to work with?
Igor replied to orizaba's topic in General Discussion
Jose, PTE 9 and PTE 10 automatically choose optimal fast NVIDIA graphics on laptops with dual graphics (NVIDIA + Intel). Regrettably AMD doesn't provide this possibility and performance of PTE depends on default settings in Windows 10 or in AMD Radeon Catalyst Control panel. You need to switch your 3D graphics for maximum performance (in plugged mode and with battery mode). There are two variants: 1. For certain app. But it's not optimal if you run PTE EXE shows or preview. 2. Global settings for all apps. Recommended by me. You can also read this article, probably it will help: https://www.trickyways.com/2019/07/how-to-force-an-app-to-use-dedicated-gpu-windows/#gpp
