  1. Update: Quite an interesting week, Having received my long awaited MovieFactory2 I gave it a try – trying many different settings also to create DVD or SVCD all without any luck. Mike Craven had spent a lot of his time trying to help. I cam to the conclusion perhaps the DVD writer was at fault (it’s a LG GSA-4040B) purchased new I January this year. I contacted LG who after a few days suggested that I should download the latest firmware. This was not listed on the LG site and eventually with Mikes help I managed to obtain it and update the firmware from version A104 to A302. I was hoping this would result it a satisfactory conclusion. Guess what – still got the same error message. My LG writer was provided with software BHA B’s Recorder, Gold5 Ver 5.32,B’s Clip ver 5.32 and neo DVD ver 5.0. I removed this software and tried another programme I had “Instant CD/DVD” V6.5. I went through all the different ways possible inc DVD & SVCD all failed with the same message. Not a very successful week, perhaps over the week end I will get some other inspiration. Thanks to all who have contributed with help. John
  2. Fred: Sorry I did not answer your question, I have not added and further updates, I did not see any as I presumed the non Beta version was the full and final one available. I think it has only been available since around 5th March 04.
  3. Fred: Yesterday I noted from others that the version 4.20 is no longer a Beta version so I downloaded that (leaving the Beta version on the computer). This did the same thing ending with the error code Failed to convert video file Error: 80041c21 after completing the "converting Videos" (100%). I have sent an email to the manufactures of my DVD/CD Writer (LG) asking them if the code is likely to have been generated from there unit. I personally think it's an error generated from the MovieFactory2, but I could be wrong.
  4. Sorry my error, I am using version 4.20 John
  5. Gosh, no comments since 13th February, I was hoping to see some solution by now. LumenLux, did you get any response from Igor regarding your letter to him early in February? I have left it till now before making any further comment, I have just managed to get a new version of the Ulead MovieFactory2, it’s a full version and for once I was able to install it and more importantly register it. (the last one from eBay would not allow this). I anxiously proceeded to try and create my first DVD, I ran through all the required processes and all seemed to be working fine till I received the dreaded error:- Failed to convert video file Error: 80041c21. I am using the PictureToExe Beta 6 version 2.20. (latest version I think). This project is certainly costing us all a lot of money, I would not mind if I could see some chance of creating a DVD. And one that will play on a domestic DVD player. It will be interesting to see if the “Digital Photo” magazine runs any more articles about using the PictureToExe programme (due out around the 20th March). If anyone has any updated information I will be very pleased to see it posted on this site. – John
  6. It looks as if we have all run out of ideas, has any one tried using any other programme other than MovieFactory I really need to get burn DVD from PictureToExe as soon as possible. John
  7. Hi All, I have anxiously been looking at all your comments, very interesting. Having tried the Beta version (latest) and having purchased one via eBay (unknown version) and still not managed to burn anything to DVD from PictureToExe. I am completely stuck, in some respects I glad it’s not just me. As I have not been able to register my EBay purchased version for some reason, I just can’t get any advise apart from you all. Have any of you managed to register your product and make any contact with the technical support people. I have contacted the pre-sales email address but no reply yet (last week), I would be very interested to know what level of help this company gives, I certainly don’t feel like spending around £50 to find it still does not allow me to register or make contact with any one. I did see Lumenlux mention Igor – does he work for MovieFactory ? in which case perhaps he will be able to solve this for us. John
  8. It Arrived today. But still can’t seem to create my first DVD. On the box it’s called Ulead DVD MovieFactory, Easily Author Home Movies to CD or DVD. It has a serial number, but does not say what version. I have looked all overt the box and also on the various screens after installation. I have seen another box identical to mine that has the version 2 contained within it. Perhaps all the products come in the same box. I was hoping to register it so I could get some support, but I have tried all combinations on the Web site and it just will not allow me to register it. “Just my luck” I am listing some of the screens, can anyone tell me what version it is please. When I open it I get the following Screen view:- · Capture Video · Author Menus · Burn Disk Images · Make CD Labels and Covers Capture Video (shows as being:- Grab Video from a camcorder/other device and convert to DVD/VCD-ready Video. On selecting this you get the following options:- CAPTURE. If I select this I get an error message “There are no capture drivers installed in this system” EDIT. Selecting this gives you several options, (a) you can select video files, so I did this and selected my file Name_vid524.ptev This then highlighted thee options · “Clip Properties” · “Batch convert” · “Make Movie” Clip Properties showed the selected file with it’s path of directories etc. It showed Video as being PTE Video codc and Audio = PCM Audio Batch Convert gives 15 various options plus a custom one § DVD: 720x576 High quality § DVD: 720x576 Low quality VDV ……. § SVCD …… § AVI …..DV § AVI …. Cinepak § AVI …. No compression § MPEG 1, & 2 various sixes and qualities § VMV’s etc. etc Make Movie that seems to have the same options as Batch convert. None of these options seem to accept the ptev files EXPORT. This has seven options:- Ø Create DVD Title Ø Create SDVD Title Ø Create VCD Title Ø DV Recording Ø Web Page Ø E-mail Ø Greeting Card And a settings button. Perhaps someone who has a version like this can tell me what it is, also how can I contact Ulead from the UK
  9. Hi, I have just purchased a full edition of MovieFactory (I hope it's V2) from eBay as suggested, I hope it arrives in a day or so - I will then give that a try. Thanks for the long letter LumenLux. I was hoping for some comments from others who may have been using MovieFactory3 but perhaps its not been tried much yet. John
  10. Hi Ken, I did use movie factory to burn an MP3 music file and it did burn ok. I have tried my hardest to try and contact the manufacturers, but it seems without a serial number it's impossible. I have even tried to contact the importers also with out any luck. I have never come across such a strange company. Without getting the demo to work I certainly would not purchase it. I have obtained some DVD+RW so I don't waste any more DVD's. I have tried all sorts of combinations with the Norton switched off, still without any luck, I still get the same two messages: - (1) "Failed to reuse corrupted cache file" (4570) followed by(2) "Unspecified Error" Report ID: 0x800411da (4570) [14252:1:0]. When DVD Movie Factory3 is running I can see two progress bars, the top one is (TOTAL PROGRESS)"Preparing Video Title data" and the bottom one is (DETAILED PROGRESS) "Converting Video Title 1/1" it's just after the completion of "Converting Video Title 1/1" that the error shows up. At no time does the DVD burner seem to be running - I am presuming that information was being sent to my hard disc. I think I will have to give up on it and try another manufacture, I seem to be the only person using this version. Perhaps I should try TMpegEnc from www.tmpgenc.net The help files don't seem any help in giving me answer to the error codes. Thanks - John
  11. Hi Ken, Thanks for help, I have not been switching off the "Antivirus" (Norton) so did - I tried recording to a standard CD (drag & drop - MS XP) and this worked, I then recorded a CD with some MP3 music using ulead MovieFactory3, this worked. I could not see an option in ulead MovieFactory2 for writing to a CD - teh options are DVD, VCD, SVCD & DVD-VR. I am going out shortly to get some more DVD, perhaps R-RW to I can give it another try - ie copying PictureToExe to DVD. I will see if it works with the Norton Antivirus disabled. John
  12. Well I have had another unsuccessful day, I have a stack of NEW DVDs I have attempted to create my AV's to. They all seem to be corrupt and I can no longer use them. I have tried to contact ulead MovieFactory - don't seem to want to give any help on the trial version. I followed the instructions from PictureToExe to create the AV I saved the file (.......vid) and opened up MovieFactory3, Selected "Create Video Disc", selected "New Project" and DVD Ok, clicked on "Add Video Files, selected file created (....._vid749.ptev selected NEXT - Next selected Recording format "DVD-Video" ticked record to disc and it started to "Convert Video Title" 1/1, and after working for around 15min I got two error messages (1) "Failed to reuse corrupted cache file" (4570) followed by a second error "Unspecified Error" Report ID: 0x800411da (4570) [14252:1:0]. I really think I shall give up. I do have Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 does anyone know if this will do the conversion, I did see that some one had used version 6 ? John
  13. I have just had another look at the Elead MovieFactory it list a comparisons between DVD Movie Factory 3 Disc Creator and DVD Movie Factory 2. Have a look at www.ulead.com/dmf/compare3.htm perhaps you can tell me if it includes what I need ? John
  14. I have just looked for www.lowcost.com it gives a listy of twelve hundred sites onder that name !!! I think the one you suggested is cuttenty not active. Back to the drawing board, any other suggestions please. John
  15. Thanks Fred, I live in the UK, I have just checked EBay (worldwide) none listed, It looks as if I will have to try and download the version 2 and give it a try. I will report back later, after I have tried it. John
  16. Can anyone suggest what I should do, should I delete the MovieFactory3, then download the MovieFactory2 fromwww.lowcost.com Do really need such an expensive software kit, All I want to do is create a PictueToExe audio visual on a DVD disc instead of what I currently do to a CD for PC use. I am amassed how complicated it seems to be getting. John
  17. That's interesting Harry, are the versions 2 & 3 different, should I be able to do the same thing with the "Ulead Movie Factory3" I have already downloaded. ? John
  18. Thanks for the reply, Yes I did leave it active. When I used the drop down arrow to locate my AVI file no files were listed. It was by default looking for DMF Project (*.dwz) files, mine called "name_vid751" was not visable till I changed it to All Files (*.*). I still am wondering about the difference between Version 2 & 3.
  19. I have spent most of the day trying to create a DVD, My first problem was in connection with the download of “Ulead DVD MoviFactory2”, I tried several times but I only seemed to have the option of downloading Ulead DVD MoviFactory3, can someone advise me is version 2 and old version or a different version completly. I am on broadband and it took almost one hour to download. (the first time it stopped downloading at around 95% - so I had to start again) I opened Ulead DVD MoviFactory3, and the window has many options none seem to fit the list of instructions as shown on this site when using version 2. I have the following options "Create Video Disc", "Create Slide show disc", “Create music disc”, “Create data disc”, “Direct to disc”, “Edit Disc”, “Copy disc” and “DVD Player”. I looked at the first two and tried selecting DVD and Existing Project and used the drop down arrow to locate my AVI file. Called "name_vid751" it tells me that it is not a valid project file, or its format is not currently supported. Can someone advise me what I should do.
  20. I have been using PicturesToExe since August this year and I have very successfully created a few CD's with photographs I have taken. I have been looking forward to the day a version was made so that I could create DVD's - It looks as if this has happened. My question is, is it going to be complicated to convert the presentations I have already done into a DVD versions? I purchased the version I am using (V4.11). Can I purchase the full DVD version yet ? If I down load the Beta version will this affect my current version in any way? will the Beta version have any restrictions? I would like to buy a full licenced copy if its available. I currently do not have a DVD writer, and recommmendations for that and any other software will be appreciated. I hope the "Time limit" facility that is currently available on PicturesToExe V4.11 is going to be available on the DVD version.
