I have in the past used TDK Printables with good results. My question, is the label side, printable or not, actually a factor in anybody's results?

Fried, your presentation has well done written all over it. Very enjoyable as well. I don't know if you sell the show or sell follow-up photos or what? I am just thinking that many of your subjects would enjoy a longer look at some of the photos. I realize the sync'd, snappy pace is important for the show's appeal, but have you considered a version where the viewers would have the navigation option? Thank you for taking time to describe your work-flow. It is very appreciated. I, for one, would sincerely like to see other presentations you have done if that were to be possible. Thank you again for sharing your fine work.

Dom, I agree with all your observations on this presentation. Still, it is a fun way for me to learn a little bit more of using V5 features. Your instructions and JPD's template are very helpful in that regard. I think there are many of us that can work from such templates but cannot originate such possibilities on our own. I think many of us can come up with some nice uses when we have a "launching point" such as the templates. Refining our "fun" will continue I hope. This was probably the thing that bothered me the most. It seemed more obvious when I used the actual photos than when I watched the demo with the numbered cube faces. I changed nothing in that regard, but I guess the changing of photos just seems more pronounced than the changing of the numbered surfaces. I would like to know how to make it so no new photo appears while it is on the "front" surface of the cube. I also tried applying fade transitions rather than the no-transition used by the template. But the fade transition goes against the inherent concept of the rotating cube faces. For Journey Into Autumn I would prefer the cube rotation to be slower. But it was not readily apparent how to do that as I think JPD had advised to not change the timeing?

I think your presentation is quite nice and very creative. I liked the view through the hanging willows. I like the idea of the "moving frame" created by showing the near and far shore as you pan. There could be any number of ways to flow objects through this view of the river. Thanks for sharing.

Of course, CreatingSlideShows.com is the home page and hopefully you can register there. Desert Dave (DD) is the owner of the site. If for some reason you can not register, wake him up and harass him gently to get you in. His email is simply dave@creatingslideshows.com.

Fish 2, I am butting in, but am sure Peter won't mind. His presentation can be downloaded here: CreatingSlideshows.com You will probably need to register (free) to be able to download. Your participation on that site would also be welcomed.

Journey into Autumn linked here to Beechbrook. This is an attempt to utilize the excellent template from JPD and the very clear instruction in the Readme file by the Dom. As I returned from a hike in the autumn woods, I found this template would be a fun way to play and present some of my photos from the day. This Version 5 Beta is so amazing. And a genius template just opens a billion more possibilities. Using the template is incredibly simple yet it opens many more options and questions. Before asking my questions, I would like to see what other members would observe and comment. I will say, some aspects appear to me when using the actual photos, differently than when running the (teaching) template with the numbered cube faces. Thank you Jean-Pierre and Dom.

Fish is adding more praise to your show and asking how you made the stars and triangles. Fish is telling us she has condition of dyslexia.

Marvelous Jean-Pierre ! I too had to gather the household of people to see "what you can do if you study your math." Of course you also need a brilliant guy like Igor to open the world. Thanks to you both.

Ganz gut. Was soll ich sagen? Ausgezeichnet ! Werner, I think you have done a really fine work. The photos are good. In my opinion the "script" is well designed. Your sound work is skillfully done. Very good all around. I like the "gee whiz" opening with the rapid pattern of film strips. I need to go watch that again. If you would care to make your project file/template available, I think some of us might enjoy looking at that too for the special effects. Also, nochmals, danke.

Thank you for the update. I have not tried any Vista myself. We see again however, how front-line Igor is as he has considered Vista from VERY early as he has developed PTE 5 to not only be compatible but to utilize Vista. Another opportunity to congratulate Igor! Thanks.

John, that sounds like a useful idea. But I'm not quite sure it would always look right in the presentation viewing. Is there one of your posted examples I could review?

Thank you again for an intriguing demo. I can't come close to keeping up and using all these, but I certainly enjoy seeing your excellent offerings. And your "demos" have very nice photos ! Thanks again.

Proposed pdf Tutorial for version 5
LumenLux replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
Ron, I don't mean to cheat you out of a rest, but I'm not sure you are drawing the right conclusion as to interest level. Having been away a few days, I notice you had three or four quick responses on the positive. And as you and I know, we don't have a lot of postings that with huge a number of responses. Now, I have downloaded and look forward to learning from it - with or without a tutorial. Without the tutorial, you will for sure limit interest as most of us likely will feel lost as to doing our own. Just my thoughts to your thoughts. -
I think your presentation is a fun approach for sharing your snaps with all the participants. Music lyrics fit, I think. Fun pace. I wondered if the photos might deserve some more "rest" time for more detailed viewing and maybe conversation. I don't remember if the navigation bar is functional yet in Version 5. When it is functional, this type of show could then allow the viewers to pause where desired. Was this the show where the credits "whizzed" by too fast for my appreciation?

Giel, I think this is a great sequence. I like your use of movement in this presentation. I think you have combined the "natural" with the "man made" successfully. The artistic rendering of the early sea/beach scene sets a tone that you maintain just fine. The only thing that I don't like is the font you use. Personally, I almost never like what I call a "medieval" font. Purely personal appeal. The presentation "works" well !

Thank you John and Jean. I'd like to discuss in a day or two. Perhaps others may offer comments in the meantime.

Mind-boggeling to me ! "Amazing" is easier word. The changing scenes inside the cube that then become the outside surfaces ! Very interesting effect. Can also give allusional headache. Then I looked only at stationary slides in PTE file. Amazing. Thank you Celou.

Posted on Beechbrook.com is a 4 1/2 minute presentation, The Philosophy of Willow Lake I am still trying to decide when and where the PTE V5 features are useful. This short sequence makes rather "quiet" use of some. Probably too much for some viewers? Or do effects just need to be applied "better." Everyone agrees they are good if "not over-used." I suspect "over-use" is not only personal opinion, but is different for each specific presentation. Maybe if we hear enough "opinions" it will make the technical critiques even more useful. So fear not - take a view of this short and express your thoughts.

Thanks John, The Zip backup will be a good idea. However I need to look to see why the template feature does not seem to work for me in Version 5. It continues to work in V4.48, but seems not in Ver.5.

Is the Create Template feature working in PTE V5 Beta #5?

I think you are right on all counts, Lin. Sounds like you know the area. Have you made the same hike? The trail starts near the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon, which is the canyon of Alta and Snowbird ski resorts. What ever the hike length is, say 'X" miles; It is definitely the "longest" "X"-mile hike in Utah. The trail covers about the first 40% of the distance and then you are mostly on your own. Steep no matter what route you find. Some different friends and I had taken this Bell Canyon route a year ago as part of our climb to Lone Peak. We figured for that hike, the elevation gain is about 6500 feet, at an even steeper rate. I don't know if you were "around" when I posted the PTE of Lone Peak. If you or anyone else "missed" it and want to see it, it is still linked on Beechbrook at Up Close and Personal - to a mountain.
-
Posted on Beechbrook is The Boys of Bell Canyon. I consider this to be a little "life-share" presentation. It is an 11 minute glimpse into the current life of a few aging friends. Please feel free to share any observations you may have.

Lin, the link gives me a split-second long download. The dl'd zip then gives a "corrupt" message and no exe file.

This entire string of astronomical presentations is outstanding. I said in the first week of PTE V5 that a few good minds with a few PTE licenses could put whole animation studios out of business! Now I know who those "few good minds" could be. thanks guys
