  1. Hi Igor, You are right about the variable frame rate of my iPhone 13 Pro video. I did some more experiments and used handbrake to convert the video into a constant framerate video before importing it in PTE. Then the problem is solved and the published video is fine. This is a lot of work however, because I have many hundreds of videos... Could PTE not implement the same algorithm as handbrake to convert VFR videos to CFR before publishing ?
  2. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes and also on AppleTV. If I import your video in my project, it plays fine (both in preview and when published). So there seems to be a difference in video formats between your iPhone video and mine. Here is a link to a shared folder with my files: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/12_1Gy-eO--fI6P0wgv8WCIAsbLIgJR1h?usp=drive_link It contains my iPhone video (IMG_3473_trim2.mov), the pte project file, the published mp4 file and a screenshot of the publish settings. I hope this helps you to find the cause of these problems.
  3. I tried the new build 3 and can confirm that the hardware acceleration is now working again and the choppiness of panning across still photos is now gone, but the problem with the imported iPhone videos is not solved. I think this problem has another cause. The choppiness of the videos is different from the choppiness that that was on the still pictures. The still pictures had a constant jittering whereas the videos have a sort of small pause about every second when published at 30 fps and about twice every second when published at 60 fps. This can be seen very clearly both on the MacBook and the AppleTV and both for 1080p and 4k videos. The original iPhone videos play back perfectly on both the MacBook and the AppleTV. Edit: I should have posted in this topic: https://www.pteavstudio.com/forums/topic/46348-sequoia-problem-video-not-smooth/
  4. I cannot confirm this; unticking Hardware acceleration does not fix my problem with stuttering iPhone video's.
  5. I have similar problems, see this topic https://www.pteavstudio.com/forums/topic/46442-stuttering-video-playback-problem/ I just installed v11.0.15 (Apple Silicon) Build 2 and did some publish tests. The published show contains a short iPhone video and some cropped pans over a hires still image. test 1: 1920 x 1080, 60fps, hardware acceleration enabled test 2: 1920 x 1080, 60fps, hardware acceleration disabled test 3: 3840 x 2160, 60fps, hardware acceleration enabled test 4: 3840 x 2160, 60fps, hardware acceleration disabled I watched the results both on my MacBook Pro (Quick Time player) and on Apple TV (infuse media player) On test 1 and test 3 (hardware acceleration enabled) the results are bad: the iPhone video is very jerky and also the pans are not smooth but have a small (but irritating) stuttering. On test 2 and test 4 (hardware acceleration disabled the results are much better but not ok yet. The iPhone video is still jerky but the pans are perfectly smooth. The 4k version is a bit better than the 1080p version. BTW, I am on MacOS Sequoia 15.1.1 (24B91)
  6. I just noticed the other topic concerning this problem: https://www.pteavstudio.com/forums/topic/46348-sequoia-problem-video-not-smooth/ I will also try the new beta build and post my results there.
  7. I have a problem creating stutter-free video presentations using PTE AV Studio. This is my situation: I am using PTE on my MacBook M1 Pro to create a video from various media sources such as iPhone photos (HEIC) and video clips (1080p 25 and 30fps) and “real camera” (Sony A7III) footage, also photos and video clips. My goal is to create a HD or 4k video that can be played on my LG tv, using an Apple TV media player. The problem is that when I create a presentation using PTE’s publish HD and 4K video, the result is a mp4 file that has stuttering issues. The stuttering is most severe on some iPhone videos the are included in the presentation, but is also visible on hires still photos from the Sony camera when panning a cropped portion of the photo. I have tried lots of combinations of resolutions and frame rate settings, but the stuttering will not go away. It does not matter if I play the presentation on the Apple TV, a Windows PC (using VLC) or the MacBook (QuickTime player). If I use the “Convert/Trim video clip” command to process the videos before importing them, the stuttering gets even worse. I get the best results when publishing as “Video for Mobile Devices”. Then the stuttering is still visible on the included iPhone videos, but the panned hires photos are perfectly smooth with no stuttering at all. Also when previewing the presentation inside PTE or publishing as “Show for Mac” and using the PTE AV player for playback the result is perfect, even the included video’s do not stutter at all. However, the PTE AV player is not available for Apple TV. Are these stuttering issues a result of my setup or could there be a problem inside PTE’s publish code?
  8. Hi Igor, I tried build 4 and can confirm that the error has been fixed.
  9. Without Reversed Order I have not been able to reproduce the problem.
  10. I tried with a folder containing a small number of files, see attached screenshot "filenames.png". At first I had the File List Sort Order set to "Exif Date", trimmed a file and had no problem. Then I switched the File List Sort Order to "Name" and "Reverse order" and trimmed the same file again. After trimming, PTE came back with an "Image load error", see attached screenshot "error.png" Also, the file list was corrupted again, see attached screenshot "corrupted list.png"
  11. If I select a video file from the file list and do a "Convert/trim video clip", I would expect that after converting/trimming the converted file should show up in the file list next to the original file. However, when the conversion is ready, the file list shows up again, but is corrupted. Some thumbnails do not match with the file names anymore, see attached screenshot. You can see that the video file gets the name of a still image (A7_04287.png). After switching to another folder and then switching back, the file list is ok again.
  12. I checked with version 10.5 and it also crashes. You don't need to add an image to the timeline, just selecting an image from the file list in fullscreen mode and double clicking it in the preview window will cause PTE to crash. I'm using the touchpad of the MacBook.
  13. After some more testing I think the crashing is also caused by PTE's inability to handle fullscreen mode. I can now easily reproduce a crash (using latest PTE V11 RC): Create new project in partial screen mode, add an image to the thumbnail timeline (any image will do), enter fullscreen mode, double click the image => crash crashreport.txt
  14. I tried this new version and I can confirm that the .HEIC image now renders correctly. Thanks! I have also downloaded version 10.5 and this version works fine on my system. I did not have a single crash. With PTE V11 RC3 (4?) I have noticed one more problem: if I run PTE in fullscreen mode, I cannot drag items anymore. I cannot drag images into the timeline or move images along the timeline. As soon as I start to drag, the PTE window completely disappears from the screen and I am left with my draggable item over a clean desktop. If I switch to partial screen mode, dragging is working fine.
  15. I am experiencing lots of problems with the Apple silicon version of PTE version 11 RC3. Crashes happen at various moments: when dragging an image into the timeline, when double-clicking an image, when clicking the preview button. These crashes do not happen always; I have not been able to consequently reproduce a crash. However, they happen very often, like 20 times in half an hour. Sometimes I can then restart PTE without a problem, but sometimes I must first use the "Force quit" option to kill a crashed PTE instance. I am using PTE on a MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GB RAM, OS: Ventura 13.1 Apart from these crashes, there are some other problems with this version: Some .HEIC images do not display correctly in PTE (they are ok when viewed with other apps). It looks as if a colour channel is missing when viewed inside PTE. Most .HEIC images render ok however; it's about one in ten that have a problem. I have attached an image that will not display correctly in PTE. .MTS videos can only be played from the very beginning, if I move the cursor along the timeline, the video starts to stutter and will not sync until I place the cursor at the start again. Is there anything that I can do to help to resolve these problems? Edit: I added a crash report Crash happened when clicking Preview button in Objects and animations screen. IMG_1520.heic crashreport.txt
  16. ...so you can easily include photo's from your iPhone / iPad in your slide show.
  17. It would be nice to have a button action "Run Slideshows" that can play multiple consecutive shows. With the current version (PTE V9.0.16) this can be a rather painful experience, see this issue
  18. I inserted a new blank slide at the beginning of the show, but still I get mixed results: Sometimes (depending on slide durations maybe, I think...) the show seems to play ok when published to exe, but almost never when in preview mode. Also sometimes I still get only the last or the last two shows. I have even seen the shows being played in reversed order! To me it seems that this part of the software is buggy. It is certainly counter-intuitive and the manual/help is also not very helpful. It is not clear to me what is meant by "run external application". Will the application start as soon as the slide is reached or after the slide duration or when the transition to the next slide starts? Will it wait until the application finishes or can another application being started by a following slide while the former is still running? From what I can see now is that the blank slide is shown for some random duration, then the external application is started and on finishing the same blank slide is shown again for some random duration. Then something is flickering and the next blank slide is executed. Or sometimes not... or in reverse order... I think I will leave this feature alone until a more stable version emerges. Wish there was a button action "Run slideshows" in stead of "Run slide show". Shouldn't be too hard to implement I think; just add an extra 's'
  19. Thanks everyone for helping me out... The most promising option for me is inserting blank slides with run commands as proposed by @jt49 I gave this a try, but the results I got were very unreliable: I created a series of 3 small test shows with just a few slides and a menu show with blank slides containing run commands for the 3 test shows. When running the menu show most of the times nothing happens; I just see a few black slides and some flickering in between. Sometimes however, one of the 3 included shows will run, most often the last show or the last 2 shows. I did see once that all 3 shows were run, but I can't reproduce this anymore. I tried both absolute and relative paths for the run commands, fiddled with the slide durations and transition times, but I can't get a reliable result.
  20. I would like to create a menu slide that lets me select to play one of several slide shows (and then returns to the menu to select another show) plus a button that will automatically play all shows consecutively (and then also return to the menu). Is there a way to accomplish this with PTE ?
  21. Ok, Ok, Ok, Ok, Ok, mea culpa, mea culpa. I will order my brand new PTE licence tomorrow... Kind regards to everyone involved!
  22. Sorry to hear that. It was not my intention to start a negative tread to scare people away from PTE. Actually, I am reconsidering to using PTE myself. After reading Lin's remarks I have been playing all day with PTE and Adobe Premiere. Both applications are sort of overkill for what I basically need. I am slowly getting used to PTE's "dual timelines" (the slidelist in thumbnail-mode acting as a sort of simplified extra timeline). My major issue is with trimming video clips. I can understand that a slide can have multiple clips or other objects and that they all could have different lengths. But then there should be at least some button or option to set the slide duration to the length of the maximum enclosed object or something like that. I now have (to remember) to manually fiddle with succeeding slides to get things right again after trimming a clip and this just does not feel right. What itches me most is that when I import a video clip into my project, a slide is automatically created with the right duration, so the developer who wrote the code to do this has rightly assumed that this is what I want. Now, if I do not add any other object to this slide, he (or she) can safely assume that I want to keep it this way, that is: duration of slide = duration of clip. So, developer, please finish what you started to do so well? Anyway, I've not given up yet...
  23. @Lin: Thank you for your detailed response. I can see that you care for this product and I can see why, even though I do not agree on some of your points. You say that PTE is not an editor, but for me PTE most definitely IS an editor, namely an editor of slideshows. Not an editor of photos or videos as you seem to think I do; I use Lightroom for that. The only "real" editing I want to do in PTE is trimming videos. I think that an editor of graphical items should have a graphical UI. I find it very strange that -when for example I want to reorder some images- in PTE I have to switch over to a textbased list of filenames which mean nothing to me when I can see the very items before me on a beautiful timeline. The same with adding images: I can see them in the file list and I can see the place where I want them to be on the timeline, but I cannot put them there. I cannot see the point or the advantage of not being able to do this and this frustrates/irritates me endlessly. (Perhaps my background as a software developer plays a part in this I am just itching to put this right (for me, that is)) Concerning the AVCHD issues: I already found a way of dealing with this in PTE and I certainly wouldn't mind waiting for a PTE-fix. As to the video trimming issue: ticking the option you mentioned did not help me, but I found another thread on this forum with this very same problem: so gladly I am not all alone here... So, thanks again and maybe we'll meet again later (at PTE V9 perhaps?)
  24. Thanks for joining in! Yes, in LR my images are already in a sorted collection. If I should export this collection and rename the images, I could indeed import them in PTE in the right order. But, if I later would add new images to the collection in LR, I could not export again without things getting messy: new images would get duplicate sequence numbers and all images later than the newly added ones would be renamed. So this would only work for a one-time export-import. Instead, I have chosen to use exiftool (or actually AdvancedRenamer (which uses exiftool)) to rename the exported files based on date-time. That way I could always add new images and have them automatically inserted in the right posistion. (If Lightroom could rename images during export based on date-time I could skip the renaming with exiftool, but alas, LR can only rename based on date, not time.)
  25. During the last couple of days I have been tinkering with a trial version of PTE 7.5. I am getting to the point now that I think PTE was not meant for me. I have not come to this conclusion lightly; I read the manual, browsed the forum and did a lot of experimenting. I know now that PTE can do everything I need it to do and can produce stunning output. However, it is just taking me way too much time due to the (in my opinion) extremely confusing and counterintuitive user interface. It is very frustrating to me that PTE cannot do the most basic and simple tasks (adding, deleting, editing, moving images around on the timeline) in a way that I can appreciate and have gotten used to from working with other applications. Although I know PTE can do all of these things (and I did them in some way or another), I have just not found a proper way for me to do it. Just some examples: If I delete an image, the images "to the right" don't snap to the left, If I drag a picture into the timeline, it just drops into another one, messing everything up instead of neatly fitting in by making enough room, I cannot just pick an image and drag it to another place in the timeline, I keep trying to right click to change object properties, but they are not there, If I trim a video clip, nothing happens to the slide duration (it just gets a freezing image at the end), (and if I trim it in the converter I just get yet another converted image (that I didn't want in the first place, but PTE cannot handle my .MTS AVCHD files)), I... I could go on but I won't. I know that there are many nice and helpful people on this forum that would like to help out on every item on this list (I think this is one of PTE's most strongest points), but I am afraid that this list is getting just too long. So, I will sleep over it one more night, but I fear will have to leave you all. Please note: This post is not meant to be un-nice to or critical of the developer(s?); I am sure that there must be valid reasons for PTE to work the way it works. I really do appreciate PTE, especially the extremely powerful (and easy and intuitive way!) of creating pans and zooms, which was the main reason for me to look into PTE.
