John, With respects to yourself you are one of the few who are having zero problems ~ but other users are having problems !! Its all very well and fine to suggest...'spend time with New Software'...I agree with you provided its works properly on all variations of modern PC's. This New Invision Board is 'unstable' under certain conditions which I gave in Post #1. The 'Hallmark' of all good Software is that it must be backward compatible to older versions, this is not so here. For example:- How would you like it if Pte.5xxx would not open nor play previous versions of all the 5xxx (Betas) nor open an older version like 4.49 ??...I doubt if you would be at all happy with that. Thats the situation which now exists. Furthermore, IPS did not Post any 'Operational Requirements' nor 'Specifications' of their New Invision Board 3.02 consequently everyone is left ignorant as to what these are and what's needed to get it to work properly. Apart from those issues there are logistic and ergometric problem's with its operational Controls and Layout ~ not at all friendly ! Brian (Conflow).

Hi Ken & Yachtsman, We found:- Its not happening with our XPs + Google or MSN Search Pages with IE-6 thats seems O.K But with 2000 or 2000.Pro or '98se we get the same problem as you had experienced with IE-6. Now try and select different Fonts for your EMails and it behaves like a Win'95 and double spaces lines and it goes 'Ga-ga'. Yachtsman you are right about the 'Auto-Word-Wrap' it doesn't work ? It's different behaviour's with Win 2000 and Win Xp is very worrying as both are NT-Systems and 2000.Pro is the only truly 'cross-platform' PC capable of talking to 95 + 98se + XP. I hope its not coming to a situation of no choice ~ 'Vista' or nothing ?? My concern is this behaviour is going to do damage to our Forum in respect of 'New-Members' who will simply give up on this 'messing-around' trying to make a simple Post. Brian.

Hi Igor, The last thing you want to know about are 'problems' with the New-Forum's and PC Operational difficulties... New Forum Navigation Problems 1) In the past, users could use the Return/Forward Arrows in the Browser-Page (<--or-->) to go back and forward. This no longer works with XP nor 2000 or '98se. Users now have to go to the end of a page ~ there is no 'Back-Button' ? 2) If one uses the 'Browser-Arrows' the Forum drops 'Off-Line' and asks for a Refresh ~ which does not work ? (Attachment). 3) If you are working within a 'New Forum Category' its virtually impossible to get back to the Main Page Directory ? PC Operational Problems 1) If one is using a Win'98 or a 2000.Pro this New-Forum takes for ever to open up the Main Page Directory using IE-6. 2) When trying to Edit-Post with 2000.Pro and IE-6 (irrespective of Search-Page) it takes up to 10.secs for each Edit ? 3) Using 2000 ~ If you try to change the Font Size/Type it does not work in the 'Script-Window' nor in the 'Preview-Window' ? consequently when you Post to Forum it's all over the place and it is impossible to Edit due to 1-2-3 above. My review of good Software takes into consideration:- Backward-Compatibility and Stability and Ease of Use. The new 'IPS Board-Product 3.02' does not meet these criteria because it has operational & compatibility issues on older NT-System PCs ~ this should not be so as XP itself is an NT-System based on the Win 2000.Pro Model. It's not a Browser issue as IE-6 is used worldwide with 1000's of other Forums with no problems what so ever, except recently ~ Microsoft is "Gatecrashing" other Browsers trying to distribute its IE-8 Product ~ thats another story !!! Hope this report can be of use to you... regards, Brian (Conflow)

Pushu, Seems to me that you need to check your static and dynamic Memory-Resources. The 'Attachment' below shows you how to do that. Let me know how you get on ~ Brian (Conflow).

John, Here is a 'technique' which should find your missing Zip-Files. We have used this method for the past few years with good success. See the 'Attachment' in this Posting for the method & instructions used. Best of Luck... Brian.(Conflow)

Larry, Thanks for the reply ~ I do appreciate what you are looking for ~ essentially you want to 'paste' the Music Tracks into a Box which will show the Track-Title plus Track-Time and at the end of a list of Tracks it shows the Total-Running Time. The 'Accumulative Track Timer' I posted is really designed for those who don't know Microsoft-Excel or can't configue it. best regards, Brian (Conflow)
-
Hi All, From time to time one has to calculate the 'total' playing time of Multiple Sound-Tracks to coincide with a Slideshow running time. It is difficult to add more than 3/4 Tracks each of X.mins + Y.secs to give a total Sound-Time. Yes it is possible to do this in Excel but its 'tricky' at the best of times and nigh impossible to do if you don't know Excel. Here below is a rare Program that can add Mins+Secs upwards of 20 entries. It also 'Prints' out the addition's and answer and can import Numeric time values from other Programs. Let me know if it's useful.. Brian (Conflow) AddTime.zip

Well Xaver, We all have our own opinions about that ~ I see no difference when a Film Soundtrack ends with the Credits ~ so whats so special about a PTE.Slideshow? ~ like any Film its still an Audio/Visual presentation. While we are on the subject may I remind you that this is no place for 'personal comments' about other peoples Posts. It is a survey page being conducted by "Dom" and all remarks should be addresed to him as the Moderator of this Survey. Brian.

Dom, Well I have just Posted a 'simple' Mp3 Audio-Trimmer which works well for me ~ I only wish it had been available in Pte long, long ago. Link: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....ost&p=67574 I am not talking about a 'Full Audio-Editor' just a simple utility to 'cut-down' an Mp3 Track to match the Slide-Times without the complication of opening Audacity or Audion which for 'New Pte Users' looks like a nightmare. Auditor-Editor Utilities are very well and fine if you need to do a complex editing job vis-a-vis a long Slideshow with styalized effects and PZR etc,etc ~ I use those utilities myself. But for Pte.Users & Photographers who wish to show their 'Holiday or Wedding Photos' (on the fly) to friends with a 3/5 minute Sound-Trak which has to end when the Show ends ~ then there are serious problems !! Nobody has the time (nor patience) to open an Audio-Editor (on the fly) and spend hours trimming a Sound-Trak to suit the Pte-Slides Timeline so that the Slides+Effects show for 5/6 sec.each accompanied to a fixed duration Sound Trak. Better off to calculate your chosen Slides+Effects duration and then "trim" a Sound-Trak to suit that. "Mp3-Trimmer" does that. What could be simpler ?? Brian (Conflow) P.S At the time of Posting this I note the response to your Submissions:- Generally in favour: 71% and 29% against.

For:Bill Artman Bill, No you're not 'crazy' ~ it was a simple suggestion and a valid one ~ and Igor would have appreciated it. To make a long story short ~ here attached is a small Mp3 Audio-Trimmer which will suite your needs. 1) You can 'Trim' an entire Sound-Track or 'trim-off' any long Lead-ins or 'trim' to suit the Show duration. 2) You can even 'Trim-Off' a small Sound-Track,ie:- Tracks less than 10.secs duration or Fade-In for any Slide. Sorry, it only works for Mp3 Sound Files but I believe the developer is working on a WAV version. I attach a File showing 'numbered' Instructions as how to use the Program and Sample/Original and Sample/Cut Music. Link to the Program: http://www.mptrim.com Let me know how it works, Brian (Conflow) Zither_25s.mp3 Zither_15s.mp3

Gentlemen, As far as I can see, it appears that this Forum is now starting to "polarise"" into 2 Groups, viz:- Group (A) Those who make their usage of PTE a serious issue whether thats for Business or Perfection in exploiting all the highly advanced features of the PTE Program. This group also shout the loudest and some seem to think that they represent the entire 5800 Members of this Forum as it evidently displayed in the above Posts. Group ( The vast majority of past and present purchaser's of the PTE Program represented by 5800 Reg.Members whom you rarely hear from ~but do enjoy reading the Forum-Pages~ but rarely post anything here ?? Is it that they feel intimidated by some Members in Group (A) ? Question.1. Is it necessary to insist that one one uses Audacity or Audion to fade a 'simple' Soundtrack in a Pte Show ? Question.2 Is it necessary to "rubbish" the suggestion of Bill Artman to incorporate a 'simple Fade' in the last Slide ? The above examples of verbal 'bullying' are becomming more evident as time goes on. This is a matter of ethics in giving consideration to another Members 'point of view' then weighing it up properly and making a consideration based on popular demand ~ thats democracy in action~ quite the opposite to what I have read above. Brian.(Conflow)
-
Hi All, Not that it's any consolation to anyone ~ but I had been asking for that 'simple fade' feature since V.4.42. Yee.heavens, how long ago is that, 2004. Since 2006 I had given up on that suggestion.... Perhaps this gentle 'Memory Jog' might re-ignite interest in that considering the Software advances in V5.6? Brian (Conflow)

Colin, You're so right ~ I had posted about that last week and I too have clients complaining about that Anti-Virus (No names). Brian (Conflow)

Hi Dom, I had a look at those Fonts and pushed them through my Font Library and Amp-Font Viewer. These Fonts are not TTF-Fonts nor Adobe-Helvetica Types but seem to be Bit-Mapped Fonts more suited to Unix/Linux for use on Apple-Mac Pcs. They wont work on any Windows-Platform which require (Microsoft-Type) TTF-Printable Fonts and I'm afraid Vista is no exception. (TTF=True-Type-Fonts). Even if you acquire and use Adobe OTF Fonts (CS3+S4) these will default to the nearest TTF Font on any Windows Platform (provided you have something like an OTF nearest match installed). (As a help) TTF Fonts are vectored fonts which have a known progressive size-matrix depending on Font point size ~ whereas Bitmapped Fonts have no such structure for re-sizing. Brian (Conflow).

Virus is now preventing me from re-installing PTE
Conflow replied to goddi's topic in General Discussion
Gary, I actually sent you the "Microsoft Removal Tool" as a Link in my last Post #10 above. I have just run the 'Utility' myself to make sure I am O.K....thats an affirmative. When you hit the 'download-button' select Run and it works immediately. You can also save a copy to run later on. See the 'screen-shot' below Regards, Brian (Conflow). -
Virus is now preventing me from re-installing PTE
Conflow replied to goddi's topic in General Discussion
Gary, This 'Malware' is still on your PC - You wrote...."I still have the problem when I try a 'Create Exe' so I have to have it unticked when I do a 'Create'. I'll have to be more careful to re-tick this selection when I am not doing a 'Create".... If you refer back to the Microsoft File I sent you, you will see this "thing" creates 4 Registry enteries and then changes the Address-Line in any program it infects. As I said this is not a malicious Trojan, in fact its 'childrens stuff' written by some dopehead trying to impress his friends or someone else trying to sell Ad-crap. Today I believe they call such malware "recretional-vandalism" ~ god help us !!! (This type of 'bummer' is not new, its a variation of the rubbish which was all too evident in the days of Windows'98). In your case when you try to create an Exe, this "thing" chages the 'address-line' of your new Exe (in construction) consequently the PTE Program will freeze as it can no longer write to the 'work-in progress' because it no longer recognises the File its trying to write to. So don't delete your Show-Folders just yet... You need to get yourself a 'Wiper'~ These are free (stand-alone) Once-run Programs which wipe the infection from the PC. They are available free from:- McAfee, Symantec-Norton, Kaspersky-Labs, CNet Downloads, Major-Geeks etc. Just type into your Search page: (1) Trojan-Remover or (2) Malware-Removers Also below is the Microsoft-Link for their (Once-run) Trojan-Removers for XP,2000,Vista:. The previous Link was for the Scanner only. Link: http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.aspx Other Readers:- Bookmark this Link you never know the day you will need it. Best of luck with the work ~ don't worry, this is 'fixable. Brian.(Conflow). -
Virus is now preventing me from re-installing PTE
Conflow replied to goddi's topic in General Discussion
Gary, Your problem concerning the deletion of 100 PTE.Exe Files.... It may not be necessary to go to those extremes, it may be possible to restore those Exe's to their original state. You mentioned a Trojan infection ~yes that obviously happened, but the method as to how it happened seem's to be that you 'ripped' some Music Files having downloaded them first. During this rip/download process you appear to have used your "ogg-dll" which is an encoded/decoder used by the 'ripping/download' process. Then the infection seems to have attacked the 'Sound-Files' within your Pte.Exe's but I very much doubt it would have effected your Exe.Photographs or the performance of the Pte-Program ~ to me it seems as if the Exe's have "stalled" because of problems with the Music Files. This is not a serious Trojan ~ its a Malware-Delivery System that attaches itself to the 'Address-Line' in various Programs with the silent intent of re-directing your Browser to other Malware-Sites. In effect your Browser is "infected" and then it shows up as Program-Infections which are false-positives (hiding techniques) to force you to open the Browser for help. FaceBook Users: Beware, this infection started to spread through Facebook since 22nd.July. This might be worth trying:- Go into 'PC Safe-Mode' and then scan any Pte.Exe with your Anti-Virus Program and ask it to "fix-it". You may have to update your Anti-Virus. If it tries to 'quarantine' the Exe ~ thats a sure sign your A/V is not up to date. Alternatively download and run the Microsoft-Scanner (at end of page) Microsoft Link shown below). Igor, With the type of intensive development work you do ~ what PC-Tools Firewall is doing to your PC does not surprise me at all. I have never criticised good Programs which have small-faults ~ but "PC-Tools Firewall" has long ongoing issues which are not yet resolved and worse still they are Computer specific to certain types of PC set-up's ~ in particular to those running Xp2 and Xp3. This should not be ! Below is the 'Version-History' of PC-Tools Firewall issued by Snapfiles/Webattack.Com and it clearly identifies some of the issues which would be of prime interest to yourself. I won't go any further with this thread, but I hope this can be of help to you.. Brian.(Conflow) -
Latest 5.6 .EXE files hang my PC when viewing
Conflow replied to michohio's topic in General Discussion
Igor, As you know from time to time we have to repair Customers PC's. In the past few years we have these problems with many 3rd.Party Firewalls particularily those who do not have an accredited Microsoft Certificate. In all problem cases we found the XP2 and XP3 Firewalls "switched-on" when attempting to use a 3rd Party Firewall. When the Xp2 & Xp3 Firewall is "turned-off" then the 3rd.Party Firewall works. With 'Vista' it is nearly impossible to 'turn-off' its System-Firewall ~ its a different design to the XP as you well know ~ and it continues to run in the background no matter what the PC owner does. Running 2 Firewalls together is not recommended by Microsoft (this you know) and it only causes problems for the PTE Program and other Programs. In many cases it causes Processor 'looping' which then crashes the whole system. Its our experience that this eventually causes Kernel damage leading to a complete re-install of the Operating-System and in most cases 'System-Restore' does not work. Hope this helps... Brian (Conflow) -
Hi All, This is in response to Mike (Mightec) concerning Image-Sizes and all others who may need a really accurate Pixel-Ruler. We have used this tool for the past 4 years working on PC.Board (Print) Artwork and Photo-Images with great success. The advantage of this tool is that it will measure in any direction even difficult transverse lines to within 1.pixel depending on how steady your hand really is and on your set-up calibrations. Download Site: www.charten.com (Images below) Enjoy... Brian (Conflow).

Chrisp, Today the 27th July you wrote (extraced quote):- ....."All of a sudden, I cannot pull in any projects or pictures without hanging my computer. ....."I could not find posts on this hang-up so I hope someone can help"..... With respects, many people replied to your Post of 12th July (as I did) a copy of which is below:- Copy Post #5 to Chrisp 12th July 09:- Chrisp, I have said this many times before on this Forum and it can be supported by the Microsoft Corp. XP2 and XP3 have excellent "Intergrated Firewalls" built into the Operating Systems which from time to time are 'auto-updated' by the Microsoft Corporation without reference to the PC Owner. Microsoft DO NOT advise the installation of a 2nd.Firewall on any XP whilst the original still exists on that PC and under Anti-Monopoly Law's the Company is precluded from preventing you installing a 2nd Firewall. The Anti-Virus Industry know about this 'loophole' and exploits it to supply/purvey their own Products and unfortunately most PC Owners fall into this trap with detrimental effects to their Computer. The Computer Industry is well aware of the problems of 2 concurrent Firewalls and have advised the Public over and over against this practice, however there are some PC owners who seem to know better than the Computer Industry. Ask yourself: Who's better to provide an effective XP-Firewall ~ Microsoft of a 3rd Party ?? Now you have the facts and its your choice... Brian (Conflow -

Dave and Peter, Dave, I think 2 threads are merging into one here, I was trying to give Peter an option as he had asked a specific question,viz:- Peter wrote:- Here is what I am looking for: 1. Black slide - No music. 2. Slide one - Music starting. 3. Continuity.... 10. Slide 10 - Music fading out. 11. Black slide - No music My Post and attachments would solve his problem. To your problem, I have no answer but perhaps one could set the Program to enter a 'pause-period' on Start-up thus holding the 1st Slide and only releasing that with a 'button' function. Somewhere in the back of my mind I recollect that one could write a piece of script to do that in old versions of Pte. (See below). Sorry I cant be of more help... Brian.

Hi Gary, Thats a nice one ~ even works on Win 2000 in 'full screen' with 256.mB Memory. Excellent quality, but one has to allow for some 'zoom-jerk' with these Win 2000's but thats normal. 'Duo-Core' Win XP's are perfect. Well done... Brian (Conflow) -
Dave & Peter Hi Dave, I'm under pressure today so I opted to answer you with sample 'Shots' about our 'Start-Screens and 'End-Screeens' for our various Pte Slideshows,viz:- Examples below 01-StartScreen. 02-EndScreen 03-PteOptionsSee The example Shot titled "03-PteOptions" will point you in the directions as to how we make these. We keep a Library of these Screeens and use them over and over again, the only changes being the 'Text-Captions' which we preamble on about when showing to an Audience. Hope this helps... Brian (Conflow) P.S Sorry, I'm not at my XP-PC so I had to do this with a 2000.Pro using V4.49.
