Hi John, I have just come upon this thread and I certainly appreciate your problem ~ it's most annoying !! If Marys'..."windowssecrets.com"...has sorted out your problem thats good news and there is no point in proceeding further with this 'pandora's box' of Microsofts Updates. Here is another "Tip" to impliment having sorted the problem:- Make sure you clean out your Browser-Page as this will contain the 'Auto-Cookie' whichs triggers that update. It's obvious the update did not cancel its own cookie as it was designed to do, hence it keeps activating when you go on-Line. This is a very common problem when Windows get's itself in a twist. See the 'attachment' below for instructions. (That usually sorts it permanently without going into the Cookies Folder) For Forum Members, here is a Program which allows you to Edit/Delete Cookies and keep your PC clean. Igor, From my point of view your response #16 above is very welcome because I personally appreciated the difficulties facing the WnSoft Team when it comes down to Video-Projector compatbility ~ which is nothing to do with Pte. As you well know, there are too many 'sub-standards' and variables even within the NTSC/PAL Systems to even consider the development of a Software-Package to suit the basic TV-Standards never mind the sub-standards and the Pte 'user choices' of non-standard and non-compatible Image-Sizes which they insist on using.... Personally I am looking forward to getting involved with the (new) International-Digital 1080 Standard which offers the best chance of Pte quality TV and DVD-reproduction which then spills over into the (new) 1080 Projector Systems which I previously wrote about. For Forum Members may I say...."Like it or not Digital Television is here to stay as its now an International Agreement to overcome our lack of Radio-Space. It's most certain that the Digital 1080 Standard will be adopted Worldwide due to its cross-system compatibility and good quality, and offers up to 10 times expansion of current Radio-Space. It's in production as I write this and if I were a Camera Club I would be making efforts to sell my 'Non-1080' Projector and re-invest the money into the 1080 System. It makes absolute sense when you think about it !! This opens up the possibility of advancing PTE into the Digital TV-Markets because WnSoft are good with Software. Best regards, Brian.Conflow.

Hi Guys, I have followed this thread and its companion thread with much interest and in fairness to 'Flight Deck' he has a very valid point of view and I being one of many who have been in direct contact with him appreciate his efforts in trying to provide an 'interim' fix to a very nasty problem being experienced by those who use Pte with Projectors. (This has nothing to do with PTE). To balance that statement, it has been my experience that the WnSoft Team come up with 'solutions' not excuses and yes there have been delays in the past in solving such issues ~ that does not mean the problem is being ignored, its simply the way WnSoft work's and goes about such problems. So let's get the fact's straight,viz:- 1) Igor and the WnSoft team were 'forced' into a situation where Pte.Customers wanted to see their Slideshows on Television. 2) A Team was hastily assembled to develop a (simple) Utility to make that happen ~ they did, but the quality factor was poor. 3) They are now being 'forced' into another situation to get Pte running on various Projectors where no EIA Standards exist. 4) The only Standards relative to Projectors are TV-Standards NTSC and PAL (4:3 and 16:9) and simple VGA Graphics. Considerations:- (a) To my knowledge No Projector Manufacturer has ever claimed their Projector will work with Motion-Vectored Graphics nor will they work with SVG-Graphics ~ and that's what Pan-Zoom-Rotate are all about....apart alltogether from any quality considerations. ( 'Pix-Builder Studio' is a Graphics-Editor Program designed for Image enhancement for Web usage and for DVD making. That implies it must be capable of making a Video-AVI for burning on to a DVD Disc for showing on a TV-Set. (Lack of quality is a known factor). (c ) Codecs...You can try as many of these as you like. You will never emulate a Commercial DVD nor TV-Signal because codec's only address the Video content of a commercial signal which is a very small part of the overall 'TV-Composite Video-Signal' which can be reproduced on to a Commercial-DVD after some very, very, complex modifications. (Commercial DVD are Printed-On not Burnt-On) Finally:- If one assumes that a Homemade-AVI can compete against the quality of a Commercial TV-Signal or Commercial-DVD as seen on a Projector ~ then I'm afraid that person is a optimistic dreamer because it simply can't be done with available Home-Technology. The complexity is like comparing a Mouse to an Elephant both in terms of Graphic-Management and Signal Composition and unless one has a fundamental understanding of the "NTSC/PAL Composite Video-Signals" one will get no where except wasting their time. I'm sorry, but all the discussions in this thread and likewise will not change the facts concerning "NTSC/PAL-Composite Video Signals" which must be used if you want a good quality rendition of your Show on TV or Projector. (A simple Codec will not suffice). Brian.Conflow. PS. I would like to add that there is a lot more to this than meets the eye of the casual reader.

Laszlo, Sure that's one solution, but Kieron has a different problem alltogether,viz:- He has to get the Sound and Mic-Over from his Laptop to a distant Sound-Booth which controls the Auditorium Amplification and in doing this he has to use of the Laptop volume control which shows up on his Laptop Monitor and on the Projector Screen which is distractive and ruins his Show. Quoted..."I am presenting a show in a large Auditorium where the main sound controls are located in a Booth away from where I will be located. I will have time to set up prior and hopefully have the correct levels. My question is regarding the window that come up on my Laptop Screen or Projected Image when I adjust the sound level's on the Laptop. If I have to 'tweak' the sound levels part way through a Show using the Laptop sound control it is very distracting to have it super imposed on the Projected Show". Is there a way to hide this window?? Hope this puts you in the picture, regards, Brian.Conflow.

Kieron, You wrote..."The Galaxy has not turned up as yet from the supplier, probably held up at customs"... Kieron, I'm surprised at that delay as B&H Photovideo are renowned for their delivery services. May I suggest to get back on to them and and having quoted your Invoice/Payment Number request a 'Parcel ID Number' so you can make an enquiry with the USPS (United States Postal Service) who will trace it for you. I doubt its to do with Customs if it was properly declared as an 'Audio Mixer' ?? Just a suggestion... Brian.Conflow.

Igor, Thanks for the message ~ that confirms what I suspected, it definitely is a 'Backdoor-Robot' being spread by unsuspecting PC Owners who are 'innocent' not knowing about these things. Unfortunately these 'robots' are rarely detected by Anti-Virus Utilities for the reason that they are always mutating, so it takes time for A-V Utilities to catch up with them. However once detected they are fairly easy to remove with the correct Tool followed up with a IE Browser cleanup. (For those interested see below.) Brian.Conflow Cleanup Tool:- Apart from cleaning out Kazzaz it also cleans out other 'Robots'. When the page opens up select 'Free Removal Tools' and then 'Backdoor KOwbot'. http://www.bitdefender.com/VIRUS-1000001-e....A---1.3.B.html

Hi All, For those of you who opened the 'Attachment' you have now most likely become infected with a 'Backdoor-Robot' whose action from time to time will re-direct your Search-page to an 'illegal' Re-Director Site which will be part of a hub of similar infected PC's. If this happen's to you ~ you need to download 2 Programs which will find this 'Robot' and should remove it from your System. (A) CoolWebShredder ~ ( KOwBot Remover Tool. Link (A):- http://www.brothersoft.com/coolwebshredder-74069.html Link (:- http://www.bitdefender.com/VIRUS-1000001-e....A---1.3.B.html (The latter Program is courtesy of Bit Defender.Com.) These should help you if you experience any 'Robot Re-Director' problem. Brian.Conflow.

Difference in monitor vs projector displays

Hi Guys, On this subject, I have contributed many Posts some time ago. I am rather surprised why nobody has given some cognizance to the simple technical content of those Posts for the reason that the contents will answer many 'puzzle's' as to what's going on with the Projectors you are 'Testing' and comparing. The 'Screenshot'' below will show why such variations are experienced:- And if further proof of this is needed please read the 'Article' in Projector Review, viz. Link:- http://www.projectorreviews.com/advice/Hom...terpolation.php I hope this is of some help to you Guys, Brian.Conflow. -
Henri, I am a late follower of this thread ~ but concerning the 'NVidia Ge9400' Card, this is using a variation of the Intel (Board-level) Chip-Sets 900 and 940 Series which are used on various Laptops and they really work very well on Motherboard installations. If you follow this 'Link' below you can make a comparison as to how these work which may help you in any selection you finally choose. Look out for the Laptops which are using these Chips. http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....t=0&start=0 Brian.Conflow.

3rd Bug!!!-> "Unable to create file with presentat
Conflow replied to goddi's topic in General Discussion
Peter, You are so right in that simple explaination you have just given ~ may I expand on that as follows for the benefit of other Forum Members ? RAM is an 'Interchange Working Area' on every PC. Compare it to a Major Railway Interchange Signal Box ~ if there is too much Traffic it gets blocked up. Because its an 'Interchange' it controls signal-routing and where the Train (program) is going to go. So it assigns a Route but also an amount of real-estate (Virtual Memory) for the Train (program) to run on. It also fill's in a 'Traffic-Log' called Page File Memory so it can keep an eye on on the (program) Trains progress. In Summary:- RAM is an 'Interchange Working Junction ~ It assigns Virtual Working area ~ It keeps a Log Page-File of work progress. So if any of these 3 Tracks get clogged-up the Train will be delayed or it wont run ~ same thing happens with all PC's. OOhh, and dont forget the slow Goods Train (Celeron) ~ that really makes a 'hames' of any Interchange Switching. Now you have it, thanks to Peter.... Brian.Conflow -
Piscel, I don't have the time right now to answer all your questions as we are closing down for an early Weekend. However I did retrieve your Test-Menu File:- "test_menu_v3" and tried to open it ~ It would not open That is simply the "pte.Dat File" (Work in progress File) there never are any Images in such Files. I then decoded it with 'Wordpad' and below is the 'Text-File Instructions' as a Word.Doc and as a Pdf. I also enclose a 'Screen-Shot' of the results when I tried to open the File ~ Post that on the Forum. Regards, Brian.Conflow. test_menu_yemenv3__Wordpad_.rtf test_menu_yemenv3__Wordpad_.pdf

Hi Xaver, I have no experience with 'Apache Servers' but the fact that Urls' (Address Lines) are modified to lower-case is normal, it would seem something is not correctly set-up in the Internet Explorer Page that is the final 'junction' before the Url-Stream is transmitted into the Internet. It might not be supporting RTF Format or Cookies or some other tiny Utility may be turned off or the HTML Editor may be incorrectly set to something other than Notepad. That makes Url's into lower case, not Pte. It may be that 'Apache' wants RTF Format as the HTML Editor then use Wordpad, thats simply a guess ?. When you open Internet-Explorer,select-->Tools then-->Internet Options. You need to drill down through the Tabs marked Security-Privacy-Programs-Advanced, under the 'Advanced Tab' make sure (Always send Urls as UTF-8) is checked and under the Accessibility Tab make sure all those "boxes" are empty. You might have to hit the 'Restor Defaults' Button and then reset the Security-Privacy Tabs to Medium. I don't envy that job ! Brian.

Daniel and All, Firstly thank's to you Guys who ran this "Test" and reported back from many Countries. Some time ago I developed a technique to make 'Action on Mouse' work despite many PC problems and stupid typo error's I had made myself. I also found that simply 'Pasting' a Url into the Pte Command Box under 'Action on Mouse' did not always work. This had nothing to do with PTE as I had used 'Notepad' in the past to contain an accurate copy of many Url's. Then Notepad also started to become unreliable until I discovered many Websites needed to download a 'cookie' on to your PC before you could get access to Accounts and downloadable Flash-Files and other Media. However if I used the Links in Favourites in 'Internet-Explorer' there were no failures. After much work I realised that many 'dynamic' Websites needed intact metadata pointing to JScripts and CSS Docs in order to access Multi-media embedded on those sites. YouTube is such an example, there are many. What always work's for us is a way of using 'Wordpad' which retains and saves Metadata such as when saving a Webpage in the format 'Save As'. When solely saving the Web-Address Line it seems Wordpad has better intergration with the Pte Program than other Word Documents and within the past 2 years I had no failures with this simple procedure. It is also important that you keep the Wordpad Document within the Slideshow Folder. Below are 'Instructions' on how to do this and why it works. It works on Win 2000,XP,Vista. Be prepared for a surprise when you 'hit' the Rtf File below ~ how fast it opens up. Brian.Conflow. (Edited 3/4/09 - 09:30 GMT) Instructions.pdf Instructions.rtf

Hi Al and Ken, I see you agree with me concerning the French Site (Link) :- http://www.artsvie.asso.fr/welcome.htm Title:- ARTS Et VIE. This seems to be on a single Server System and on account of all the Images and English Translation page this would slow up its rendering to a snails pace, it takes 32.secs to load. And we all know that it is not Pte's fault.....Daniel please Note!! Brian.

Daniel, This is what I am saying:- 1) You are running XP-Sp2...This OP.System has an embedded 'Microsoft Firewall' which is "On" by default. 2) Zone-Alarm is also a Firewall ~ Its a 3rd.party Firewall and if activated it 'clashes' with the XP-Sp2 Firewall, 3) You can choose to run one or the other but not both at the same time On my "Test Show" (using your Url's) the "Action on Button Click" works perfectly. If any Forum Member wants to see this 'Test-Show' download the Zip-File below, Save it, Unzip it, then Run it. 'Attached' are details of the Show and copies of the Url's and screen-shots of the downloaded Web Sites. Daniel ~ You will have to look elsewhere to solve your 'Action on Button Click' problem ~ It is NOT a PTE problem. Your (Button-1) the PTE Url ~ was downloading 'Home Cinema Classic Exe' ~ I removed this to save Forum time. Your French-Site has a very slow Server, it takes some time to open up. Brian.Conflow. Daniel, It is a 'Technicians-Law' in the Computer Industry, one must never have 2 Firewalls running simultaneously. For further information open your 'Google' and type in "Running 2 Firewalls on a PC" ~ you will get 2,700,000 Hits. Now you must read and decide for yourself. Your above Post reply:..."So we can consider either it is a Zone-Alarm issue, or either it is a PTE one"... Sorry, that is an assumption. There is nothing wrong with Zone-Alarm nor with PTE. I made that quite clear in my original Post. I gave you 2 Links about this problem and I asked you to read them in detail ~ did you?. Its nearly 95% certain that you have a 'System-Conflict' issue on your PC ~ and may I ask, have you applied the Zone-Alarm upgrades recommended some time ago. These were a 'remedy' to make the product more compatible with the XP-Upgrades released last year and there have been more Xp-Sp2 upgrades since then. As I said, you need to sort out these issues first ~ before tackling any (assumed) issues with PTE and those are rare. Best regards, Brian.Conflow

Igor, Very many thanks for the 'feedback' and as you say HD-Output to YouTube is for the future ~ Perhaps YouTube is not ready for this Hi-Quality Video and we also know that many Forum PCs can not use Pte-HD at all. Is it possible for the WnSoft Team to look at 'Cam-Video Format' that might be a solution?...I must say it was a excellent 'Survey' and it exposed many PC problems which are limiting the quest for High-Definition Video. Thanks again, Brian. Conflow Services

Piscel, I have said this many times before on the Forum relative to unexplained "PC Crashes" ? "Why are you using 'Zone-Alarm Firewall' when you have a very good (hardened) XP-Sp2 Firewall installed ??? Zone-Alarm is known to cause conflicts with XP2-Sp2 Firewall. If you dont believe that issue see Link below. Many of these conflicts are still not fixed nor ever likely to be, because these 3rd.Party products are completely superfluous and will never surpass the security now installed on XP-Sp2 and XP-Sp3 and Vista PCs. Link: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/07/09/ms...zonealarm_woes/ Its also very difficult to Uninstall 3rd. Party Firewalls and Virus-Vendors because the 'Uninstall' can do more damage to your PC as they mess with the Registry. To 'Uninstall Zone-Alarm' its important read this Microsoft Link in detail. Link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291793 Other information, when a PC 'Freezes'~ Its because its Processing something it can't resolve and ends up in a 'Loop' locking-out everything else. Sorry but the PC User is generally responsible for this but also system-conflicts can do the same thing. When it happens try pressing either of the Window-Buttons on your Keyboard that might work. Piscel (like it or not) you have Machine issues here which have to be resolved before tackling PTE issues. Do as I do ~take it easy, step back and look for the simple problem~ its always that which is overlooked ! Hope this helps... Brian.Conflow.

Lin, You wrote..."I have seen similar playback on my own shows on Youtube where initially the playback was quite jerky then upon subsequent plays it was quite smooth"... That happens on quite a few PCs and there are number of causes:- 1) Anti-Virus is 'buffering-up' the Download when playing directly from the Local ISP Server. (jerky effect) 2) Some ISP Servers 'break-up' large downloads and 'batch-buffer' these to the Client, same effect. 3) When you download the File and on 1st.Replay the Processor has to 'render' out that File (inc gaps) but on 2nd.Replay the Processor has re-composited the File and usually there is no jerky-effect. 4) Low-end Processors (Celerons) cant 'render' YouTube nor Pte5.6 fast enough, same effect again. 5) PCs with low levels of L2-Cache Memory will give a 'jerky-effect' as the Processor cant access Main Memory. 6) No matter how good the Video-Card if it cant get access to the 'video-data' in a smooth linear way then we have problems which cant be resolved unless one replaces the Processor ~ if the Motherboard is suitable ! Finally:- YouTube, Vimeo and Flickr have a preference for (mass-audience) 'CamCorder-Video Format' which works well but when it comes to emulating that with PTE.5.6 (with PZR) it's an entirely different technology not always suited to those Servers. It's my opinion:- That its Igors' reason for this 'PTE Show Survey' but so far we have not heard from Igor nor the WnSoft Team. At this stage, it would be nice to have some 'feedback' from them as to how things are going. Hope this helps... Brian.

Andrew, You wrote..."I cant get a second Sound Track in the project options to play immediately after the first" ! That's a bit confusing, do you mean..."I cant get a second Music Track to play immediately after the first" ? As in 'Music Track' from a CD-Disc ~distinct from an actual Sound-Track which is many pieces stitched together. If you can give some more detail about what you are trying to achieve there's lots of help here on the Forum. Brian.Conflow.

Yachtsman, I completely agree with you ~ The selection of a Projector is a very personal thing or it's a Club decision after much discussion. However there are other problems which one has to be keenly aware of,such as:- 1) "Unthruthfull" Marketing descriptions by those hell bent on selling these Products come what may ? 2) "Cave-Entor" Buyer beware. How can 'Buyers' be aware unless they have the full facts on the Product ? 3) "Cheap-Products" which are penetrating the Markets (Laptops etc) which are 'Media-Specific' operation only ? 4) "Good-Technology" which is cost effective once you know what it is, and that's the crunch-question today ? I also agree with Yachtsmans' comment..."This “MUST HAVE” mentality of the minority is jeopardising what the average user wants, and hitting them where they can least afford, in the pocket"... This prompts me to re-iterate what I wrote before, those vital 4 vital Questions:- a) What do you want the Projector to do for you ? Where is it most likely to be used and for what ? c) Will it ever be used for PZR effect or HD-Video ? d) How 'future proof' do you want this Projector to be ? Best regards, Brian.Conflow.
-
Hi Geoff, This 'topic' was discussed to death last month and it really highlighted how little people knew about Projectors and in particular how little was known about the recent 'technical developments' in this important field of Video-Electronics. Its not os much a matter of DLP -v- LCD Projectors nor the newer Plasma-Mirror types but in reality its all about,viz:- a) What do you want the Projector to do for you ? Where is it most likely to be used and for what ? c) Will it ever be used for PZR effect or HD-Video ? d) How 'future proof' do you want this Projector to be ? You need to sit down and take notes and 'thrash' out these (4 question) in the expectations of current and future usage. To depend on 'well meaning' current recommendations relative to Projectors which are a few years old is like comparing Single Processor PCs ~to~ Duo Core PCs. The difference is really that great. The most up to date Technology is:- "Multi-Frame Buffer Projectors" based on 1080 Technology either DLP or LCD Types. Below are some Drawings & Attachments and Links which should point you in the right direction BUT BEFORE YOU BUY make sure you have a small 'Demo Pte-Show' with PZR effect in it ~ bring it with you and try it out alternatively bring along a HD-Video Show. Ignore this advice at your own peril and I am certain other Forum Members will say the same thing !! Good luck with the Shopping, Brian.Conflow. http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9528 http://www.projectorreviews.com/advice/Hom...terpolation.php (Read the very last Paragraph in the above Link suggesting 1080 Technology Machines)

Roger, How right you are, very good advice indeed, and here an example of what Roger is about:- Two years ago I posted a small Christmas 'snippet' on Media Fire. It was a New Camera Test of 45 secs with an Mp3 snippet of a Childrens Charity Choir (to whom I had contributed) and had purchased their CD. Some time later a I got an EMail Application Form from an unknown 'Mp3 Artists Protection Association'.... My god has the World gone mad with the 'OTT Claim Society' we live in ??? Next time I willl give the money to those Children personally in the true spirit of Christmas and I have never posted to those Public-Servers again. Brian.

Yachtsman, DaveG has answered everything ~ Mp4 is really the only option open to you and as Dave has tried it out and it works, and as you also know the Flickr limitations it a case of ~ 'QED' Have fun, Brian.

Yachtsman, This is what they mean,viz:- Thank you for contacting Flickr Customer Care. Here's a list of the file formats we accept:- AVI (Proprietary codecs may not work)--------------------------PTE Avi-Files may not work. MOV (AVID or other proprietary codecs may not work--------Movie Video may not work MPEG (1, 2, and 4)---------------------------------------------------Mpeg Video 1,2,4 will work 3gp---------------------------------------------------------------------3G (Broadband) Phones will work (Inc.Camera) Hope this helps, Brian.Conflow.
