  1. Guru, I was afraid that question would come up. Normally I use PTE for a slideshow of all images taken at a wedding or other event. We are always a two-photographer team and usually average 1200-1500 images over the course of 8 - 10 hours of wedding coverage. The primary slideshow is sync'ed to music and is given autorun status on the CD. I then reproduce the slideshow without music as a totally manual operation. The client can then click through each image to examine them at their leisure. This makes for an excellent proofing tool since I can provide a fairly high res image in a manner that is very difficult to "capture" (if you know what I mean). Because of the PTE file size I can usually fit both of these shows on one CD. Clients love it. (Now if we could only find a way to prevent copying the CD I'd be really happy.) Most of my clients have PCs and this method works great. I just don't want to give up my MAC clients or have to come up with another way of proofing for them. Ciao, Steve
  2. Thanks, everyone, for the feedback. Guru, I guess the dvd version will work. However, do you know if there is a way to advance "frame by frame" with a dvd slideshow? (The files are too big for a SVCD.) Ken, that's a great idea too! Since you thought of it I'll let you be the one who gets to give the xmas gift. I wouldn't want to steal your thunder.... Just send it to me and I'll be sure to pass it along! Ciao, Steve
  3. I believe that I have read that PTE does not work for Macs. I have a client for whom I made a slideshow but he can not open an exe file. Is there some way to create a slide show that Mac users can view. I tried to copy the temporary avi file created for dvd but was not able to do so. Anybody have a suggestion or solution?
  4. Thank you all. Ken, you have an excellent suggestion. I suspected there was an easy way to do this - just couldn't figure it out. To everyone else, I'll check out your recommendations. I knew I'd get good feedback from this group. S
  5. Several of you have used screen captures for you p2e tutorials. Can you recommend an easy procedure or program for acquiring screen captures? Thanks.
  6. Sorry. I started this in the wrong topic section. Mea culpa! How do you delete a post?
  7. Thanks guys. This was my first attempt to burn a DVD (the file was too large for a VCD) and it took about 2 hours. I prepped the .pte file with version 4.20 and then used 4.30 beta 1 to create the .avi file. I just purchased Easy Medial Creator 7 and test burned the DVD on +RW media just in case something went wrong so I wouldn't waste a DVD. The end result was pretty good. I didn't do anything in DVD Builder except put the .avi file in position 1 and burn. My next attempt will be to dress up the DVD with menus and multiple chapters. The test I made was of a wedding containing 1025 image with music. The slideshow is 46 minutes duration. PTE = 162 KB EXE = 182.357 MB AVI = 481.357 MB DVD = 3.04 GB Looks like I just about used all my DVD space!
  8. Anyone have an idea of how long it takes to burn a slideshow avi to DVD? I'm using Roxio DVD builder and so far it's been over 90 minutes. The avi file is 481,000 KB. The disk burning program indicates the DVD file size at 3.3 gig. I'm getting sleepy, sleepy...
  9. Hello everyone. I'm pretty new to p2e so forgive me if my question is redundant. I have tried to find the answer but so far no luck. Is there any way to determine the length or duration of a slideshow that shows the entire (image + transition) time. I've seen the obvious comments about stopwatches and other external time keeping. Is there a utility within p2e that exists for this purpose. This would really be helpful in letting me determine the length of the music file I will need. Thanks.
