play multiple pte after each other
stonemason replied to filip.debacker's topic in General Discussion
There is a very easy way of preventing taskbar flashes between menu driven slideshows. Create your menu sequence to run through to a slide full of buttons which activate other shows ( I used PTE 5.1 ) turn off 3d acceleration for the menu sequence and select stay on screen until escape is pressed, create your menu.exe file. Now for the important part before running your menu right click on windows taskbar select properties, and Uncheck "Keep taskbar on top of other windows". Your shows will now run and go back to the menu with no desktop or taskbar flashes. Regards Geoff -

PicturesToExe Deluxe 5.5 Release Candidate 5
stonemason replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
Hi Jeff this used to work fine in older versions of PTE but I have to admit I'm guilty of assuming it still worked in the newer 5.5 betas. as you can see from my post I'm busy with lots of AV's at present so haven't had time to experiment with 5.5. I also assumed that this is what Barry has been talking about in other posts as I remember him using the "insert key" method at one of his lecture days. Sorry if I misled you. Regards Geoff -
PicturesToExe Deluxe 5.5 Release Candidate 5
stonemason replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
Jeff you can insert a slide while the soundtrack is playing by pressing the insert key at the desired position and the next slide in the list will be added at that point. I am at present creating several slideshows with a total image count of 1400 and would really like the select slides to the right feature in the right click menu in the timeline ( shift + home does this but also takes you to the end of the timeline which is a pain) I'm using the last version 5.1 as these shows are the results of a national competition and I can't risk using beta versions as I'm working to a deadline. From what I have seen of 5.5 it looks great can't wait to get this project over and start using it. Well done Igor and the team. Regards Geoff -
Hi John enjoyed your AV very much, having been to Skye many times and walked on the Black Cuillin ridge it bought back some very happy memories. Tend to agree with bjc about one or two of the images not on screen long enough, but I will definately be watching this again. Can you tell me what the music is please? regards Geoff

Thanks Igor very impressive list, I still hope for "Select slides to right" to be added to right click menu in timeline view. Regards Geoff

I've commented on the lack of feedback in the past, and have personaly come to the conclusion that people are reluctant to risk causing offence by criticizing other peoples work. Personaly again I would rather read why people did not like my work than get no feedback at all which teaches me absolutely nothing. I very rarely make my shows available now for that very reason, if people are not prepared to say why they like or dislike a show then the whole exercise becomes pointless, as the main reason for making shows available is to try and learn from the feedback. Thanks for all the info. The reason for the question is that I do multi slideshow evenings for clubs and organisations, which are selected in turn or at random from a menu system, which is all that the audience is able to see. Any intervention on the computer's volume controls means that they are visable on screen. For this reason I have been using a Hi Fi amp and although this works well I would like something a bit more compact. I use a midi tower computer as I am no great fan of laptops, not least because of the silly money you need to spend to get decent graphics caperbilities, as reams of posts and replies on this forum well testify. I use passive speakers to cut down on multi amplification problems and all in all it seems to work OK, but I'm always willing to learn from others experiance and would like to cut down on the amp's physical size. Brian I hope the above clarifies things somewhat, in that the speaker out on the soundcard is connected to the Hi Fi amp and then onto the speakers. There is always variation in volume between different slideshows and a means of discrete adjustment while they are running is very useful. Geoff

Can anyone recommend a small mixer / volume control to place between the computer and speakers to enable the control of slideshow volume whilst it is being projected. Must be UK available. thanks Geoff

Excellent AV, with images and soundtrack all perfectly matched. I enjoyed it very much Geoff

PTE Made Easy tutorials - Continuously Updated
stonemason replied to Lin Evans's topic in Tutorials & Video Lessons
Hi Lin Many thanks for your excellent tutorials, and your genourosity in giving so freely of your time and expertise, it is very much appreciated. Regards Geoff -
Interested to know from those who have digital projectors which you have, DLP or LCD models. Any particular must have or best avoided models based on experiance would be good also, preferably those available in the UK. Thanks Geoff

How about a New Year resolution for everyone here namely not to copy and paste everything that someone has written, before giving your answer/opinion. Some of the posts on the forum consist of 30% information and 70% quotation, and perhaps it's my grumpy old man side but I find it's turns reading otherwise interesting threads into a very tedious business. Grump over very Happy New Year to all. Geoff

Igor this feature is very useful when manipulating slideshows with large numbers of images in the timeline, I know that the shift+end command can be used but this takes you to the end of the timeline which is not helpful when you have to scroll all the way back again. I appreciate that is perhaps not so useful when making slideshows of 30 to 50 images but with slideshows of 100+ images it can be a very usefull time saving feature. Regards Geoff

Happy New Year Igor Is there a chance that 5.2 will include right-click option "select slides to the right" in the timeline Regards Geoff

Merry Christmas to all at Wnsoft and many thanks for all your efforts and help throughout the year. Also many thanks to all at the forum who give so generously of their time and expertise to enable others to get the maximum enjoyment from PTE. Merry Christmas and a happy and peaceful New Year wherever you may be Regards Geoff

Al I'm at a bit of a loss here to understand why you would want to use the spacebar at all for a manualy advanced slideshow as there is no need to pause the show. If a keypress on the space bar advances the slide then I can't really see what problem that would cause? Regards Geoff
-
Igor no need to apologize I think that I speak for most people on the forum when I say that we are very grateful to you and the team for the speed at which you act to address any problems that will inevitably occur during the development of any software. It's good to be able to get positve feedback from you and the team, rather than the take it or leave it attitude of some of the major software companies. Many many thanks regards Geoff

The wait for keypress option works fine in beta 9 and over-rides the "display slides for option" but does not work in beta 10, so between betas 9 & 10 some coding is not doing what it should. Geoff
-
It's a definate bug in beta 10 tried the pte file in other versions up to beta 9 and it works fine just sits and waits for keypress as you would expect. Geoff
-
I've created a slideshow using beta 10 which I wish to use manual advance. I've checked the wait for keypress button but the show still advances using the display for time either this is a bug in beta 10 or I am missing something which I should set. Any ideas please. thanks Geoff

Brian I had photoshop open when I experianced the closures ( but not a web browser ) it's happened again since my last reply to Igor, but appears not to follow any pattern apart from it seems to happen when PTE is minimised to the task bar. I installed PTE on my wife's computer to eliminate the possibility of the problem being specific to my PC, and is been doing the same thing on hers. I have now uninstalled all but PTE v5 beta 4 from my PC just in case there is a conflict between several different versions. Sorry Igor wish I could give you better diagnostics to work from. Geoff
