5.6 cannot open show that was saved in 5.7!!!
Ken Cox replied to goddi's topic in General Discussion
well for one thing the this beta is different than 5.6 and no Igor did not omit "Is this something that Igor just did not attend to yet?" but, i have even made the mistake of opening with a new version, saving the pte with a new version and then trying to open the show with a 4~ version and getting the message "Cannot open this file. This file is damaged, or it was created with newer version of PTE (maybe v1.00 - 1.60)" and numerous other people have done the same thing as i said in my first post use the search of the forum ken -

thks dom Gary write/save this step by step thread for future reference -- also "Ken...That's the problem. When I saved the slideshow in 5.7, I saved it over the file made with 5.6. So now 5.6 will not open the slideshow. I never saw any warning that 5.7 would corrupt the file so it would not work in earlier versions." always "save as" the pte with a different name messing withe the pte if you dont know what you are doing is like messing with computer registry when you do not save it with a date so you can reuse it if necessary ken -

open the 5.6 program open the original pte with 5.6 - not the pte made with 5.7 this has been covered many times since ver 5 was issued -- use the search function of forum ken -
to put it bluntly -- it aint apples and apples - it is apples and oranges the show is going to look better on your monitor because it is made differently than the tv unless you have the latest state of the art high defintion tv connected to your computer via hdmi, vga or svhs cabling and then it becomes a diffent situation -- on my setup, svhs connected to a ws hd tv, the monitor is still better but not by much - you have to look close and know what to look for to see the difference for more info on subject see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_Graphics_Adapter ken
