http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....ost&p=32120 = have always used the Acoustic Energy Aego speakers which many AV workers have seen & heard at my lectures & then bought themselves. A new range came out in December 2005 which can be seen on their web site at Aego M-system They can be obtained here We and many of our friends have been very pleased with these and they certainly fill a large hall and can be used at home. There are some threads on the PTE Forum relating to these speakers. Best wishes Maureen KEN

yes Dave if i had known the way we were heading, my saved picts would have been a lot bigger but to redo there isnt enough hours in the day " think big " ken
-
DAVE when i had my present system built it had a ati 64 mb all in wonder card and i did not have a problem using "as took picts" doing shows then we migrated to the pan and zoom and i settled on 1280/960 size and had no problems with my shows but was seeing some problems with Lin and other shows where they were really "pushing the envelope" I had a chance to get a new card 11/11/2006 changed out ATI - all in wonder 2006 edition Is a 9600 with 256 ram since that change seldom see a problem with other people's shows I still use 1280/960 - picts are +- 500 kb each from my wet darkroom days i remember how much easier it was to work with med format negs than with 35mm negs so i guess that is why i use the "bigger is better" quote. years ago when i first started making shows i was scanning 8 x 10 calendar picts at 300 dpi -- they were +- 25 mb each -i was using the info from Wayne Fulton's "scantips" site on how to minimize jaggies in repro scans from printed material -- I then would resize the scans to 800/600 or 640/480 and picts were +- 60 kb with no jaggies Hans klinken came up with a standard he used that was 719/519 my, how times change ken

72 dpi -- see http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....60&hl=72dpi this argument is as old as "dirt" yet it continues to be dug up imho if people would forget about the adobe save for web setting, it would be the first step in having quality picts to add to their shows -- bigger is better:) ken

yes the compatibility issue is a pain but now you know when we started testing the beta's for ver 5 i had so many different version i would lose track even to get to ver 4.48 the beta testing was horrendous -- much time was spent and i forget how many betas we did so i soon learned to not write over a previous pte pretty quick if people would learn all the features of 4.48 before tackling the 5 series they would have less problems with all the enhancements of ver 5 it is unfortunate that you only just joined the forum as you stated you have been using the program for 6 yrs ken
-
Roger as i said in my entry "make yor shows in 4.49 save pte then if you want some of ver5 features open the 449 pte with ver 5 save as the pte under a diffent name 5 can open 4 series but 4 cant open 5 series" series 4 cannot open series 5 templates but 5 can open 4 it will just take some time if you are using the same components i start out with series 4 and use it till i am comfortable with it, then i open ver 4's pte with 5 and save it under a different name and use the enhanced features -- the only increase in size is the second pte ken

I got my decibel meter out and recorded the following sound levels in my computor room - conditions at start - tv on and computor running - 65.3 db tv off -61.3 db i then stuck the snout of the meter directly at one of the air intakes of the computor - 67 db and from the instructions of the meter they show elevator music as 70 db specs for my meter see http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/Product....product=1219799 I bought the meter after Ronnie tried to give me a lesson in sound -- comparing 160/192/256/320 kb discs -- a definite change in db level between the different recordings. when i worked we were always trying to lower sound levels in the powerplant to comply with regulations - a very time and money consuming project a +- 2-3 db change is quite significant ken
