i scan 4x6's at 300 dpi tiffs,-- they can be quite large files -- 8x10 would be +- 25 mb ea tiff then save the masters and resize to 1280/960 at 80% quality jpegs -you can always go smaller but you are going to lose quality if you try to make the jpgs larger later - i use irfanview or ezthumbs with the resize algorithim set at lanczos3 -- this the slowest,as per Igor many moons ago:) keep your masters on cd or dvd in case something goes wrong also see http://www.scantips.com/no72dpi.html ken

Igor has been after ATI and other board builders for quite some time to get up to speed with their graphics drivers - - he is getting promises only board mfg's are only interested in gamers ATI promised to update for vista as Igor has mentioned may times you do not specify the details of the new system -- as i recall you had several in the past ken
-
Fred why can you not write to ATI and explain your problem to the tech dept. It is like asking for someones personal phone # in the newspaper. This forum is monitored all the time by google and other BOT's for information. ken

when troubleshooting i would like to cut speed of the burner from 4x to 2x the only thing that will change is the burner i am going to use PLEASE READ THE THREAD AGAIN Fred my system is totally different than yours so we are not talkng apples and apples with nero, roxio and many more dvd burner programs on my system i can set the burn speed for the burner with vb i cannot adj the speed - it selects the max speed for the combination i am using and that is not the proper way to test/trouble shoot i do not dream up these scenarios - i would not post if i had not researched the situation and tried to solve it on my own ken
-
AT THE PRESENT TIME YOU CANNOT LOWER THE SPEED TO MINIMUM using vb, with one type of disk my older burner burns at 2x my newer burner burns sane type of disk at 4x i want to be able to set the speed on the newer burner at 2x and vb will not let me ken
