I have maintained for as long as i have been on the forum that it is improper for somebody to take control of my system -- after all folks the shows posted at the "cottage" or similar sites are not the for entry to the "WORLD CUP OF SLIDE SHOWS" they are to be analyzed by your peers -- i could care less about the music so my speakers are turned off and if i want to hear i put my headset on -- JRR's latest show posted on the "cottage" has narration and therefore should be listened to. It is so easy to make these productions why not make one for "the group/forum" and another for "WORLD CUP OF SLIDE SHOWS" -- you do put them up to be critiqued and if they are critizied enough then you will change the master for "WORLD CUP OF SLIDE SHOWS" competition version 5 shows do not allow this freedom, but it wll ken

well Peter here is LIN"s description There have been numerous questions over the last few months about various video cards and how they perform with RAM loads. I created two 30 piece puzzle slideshows (very brief) which are virtually identical in practical appearance but which differ greatly in their use of video RAM. Each uses 30 layers with 30 puzzle pieces each of which are PNG files but one will run on low RAM systems very smoothly while the other taxes even the very best video cards. Below are links.... http://www.lin-evans.net/p2e/puzzlesmallRAM.zip http://www.lin-evans.net/p2e/puzzle.zip The first link is to the low RAM version which runs smoothly on almost all systems. The second link is to the RAM challenging version which even challenges the Radeon 9800 Pro. Put these two versions on a Flash media card and take them with you when you shop for a notebook computer. If the computer runs the high RAM version half-way smoothly, it has a decent video card. Best regards, Lin and to quote you I've been happily playing AVs with smooth zooms, pans and spins for years on my DeskTop (NvidiaGForce 128 Meg) and LapTop (ATI Radeon 7200). So what is this Puzzle AV that neither of them will play? ver 5 only came out in May of this year - so what have you been playing have you read this thread http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4298 have you downloaded the test/demos described here -- did they run? http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4327 i cannot run some of igor's demo's on my 1 gb ram system with a 16 mb video board did you run the start/run/dxdiag/display and how much video ram do you have?? ken

well copy the zip into new folder call it zip test un zip the zip in zip test folder the components and the pte are the components that you had/were using when the zip was made the pte must be opened with ver 5 so open version 5 and direct it to the pte in "zip test " folder and make it open the pte and your show will start - when you make the zip tou do not zip the exe just the components ken
-
peter you are likely ok but download Lin's test files http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....t=0entry30503 ken

peter i have 64 mb on my ati card and it struggles to play Lin's big tester and on my 2nd system with only 16mb vid card i can not play igor's test demos so you are going to be limited to playing standard shows successfully unless you update ken
-
pte 5 will open a pte made with pte 5 only but pte 4 series will not and thus the message and pte 4 series is the default opener you must open the pte program and direct to open the pte 5 pte it is not a good practice to have programs on the desktop only s/c's to te programs ken

snapper once you get the exe made -- go over the first section here http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1408 the procedure is also in the help file of the program the basic procedure to make the temp avi has not changed since it was written you cannot make an avi with ver 5 beta's yet i use nero 6.6 suite others use nero 7+ suite and other complete authoring programs to make the dvd -- quite a few people run into problems when they try to make the dvd with a partial suite -- oem software bundled with a burner are generally a lite version of the suite and will cause you heartaches by the number:) ken

you are starting fresh so you will have to email for new key unless you have it saved on a floppy or cd ken

https://www.yousendit.com/settings.php http://www.yousendit.com/static.php?key=support http://www.sendspace.com/maxone.html?r=join yousendit is a free -- to a point-- service where you upload a zip file -- you supply the address to where you want it to go and they will email the people that there is a file for them and they supply a link so they can download it send space is along the same lines - i have received a file by it but have not uploaded yet to their site generally the file will be on the server for 7 days so one wants to be in contact with the people another option is to use msn messeger to transfer files -- i have used it many times to transfer 100 mb zips as well as single jpgs -

It has been suggested that this thread be duplicated here http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4567 Tutorials have been offered by many and demo's as well -- some of the main tutorials according to my records are listed below -- quite likely there are more so if the author's will post the info in this thread we can direct queries here we keep forgetting -- at least i do that Igor posted this tutorial the first day he ammends this page with every beta and same is locked by him http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4327 http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/show/PTE_v500_Tutorial.doc also we have http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/jvedette/PTEV5guide.pdf with commments http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....topic=4424&st=0 and Lin http://www.lin-evans.net/p2e/index.html http://www.lin-evans.net/p2e/tutorial.pdf Link above to both pdf (better to read and print) and html. Also a puzzle tutorial and zipped file containing the entire pt2 so the user can play with it: http://www.lin-evans.net/p2e/puzzletutorial.zip http://www.lin-evans.net/p2e/puzzletutorial.pdf and BJC http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....topic=4465&st=0 ken

dom the link is still there --version 2 dagrace post 3 And I thought I had an original idea! I guess "nothing is new under the sun". By the way, I had an error trying to run your earth.exe. Maybe it was on my end. I'll try again later. I have made a version 2, by the way, replacing version 1 on the same web page. Version 2. Ken was complaining about no music, so I added some! Also fixed the transitions and registration some, but it's still got a way to go to be really smooth. -------------------- David Colorado, USA
