  1. well fellow Canadian Roger welcome to the forum if you read How to prepare and burn DVD-Video or SVCD disc, Quick tutorial at http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...t=ST&f=4&t=1408 it explains the finish feature and Video Temporary files, Why are files temporary? http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...t=ST&f=4&t=2689 answers the second question ken
  2. Isabel with irfanview open a jpg save as *.ico then try setting to the following 32x32 256 colour i checked my icon folder and found one as low as 7 colours i always have to diddle the colour setting it can be done - just perservere:) ken
  3. Tony the short answer is Igor uses as many of windows "tools" as he possibly can so he can keep the actual program small in size thus less problems Igor will have to give you the long answer. I should have mentioned that you could import each temp avi into TMPGEnc and convert them to vcd or svcg quality mpgs for reuse when building another dvd -- they can be converted to dvd files but i haven't figured how to use them I use Nero 6. suite platinum and WinDvd 6 and can import the temp avi's into them and they do all the encoding - generally without a hitch depending on the total raw size of the of the files -- have found that Nero balks when a mpg is much over 700 megs -- there are many things to learn once you enter the dvd burning game -- i have burned +- 500 dvd disks since this July and i am just scratching the surface of the learning curve ken
  4. ltdedorc when i started putting shows to disk via the avi feature i had to change my screen reolution to 1024/768 from 800/600 I then drew pencil marks on the monitor case where the centre of the vertical and horizontal dimensions are for reference -- and i keep a plastic T square on my desk for rough checking the right side has the roll up thing for placement -- on my screen it is +- 3/8" or .9525 cm this has to be allowed for when positioning as well as the other parts of the object editor creen when positioning text/jpgs etc if you search for grid in the forum we had some discussion on this +- 11 mos ago and you may get an idea how the members overcome this problem -- i think they put a grid in the object editor placed things and then removed the grid -- there was an url available and where to /how to make the grid in adobe ken
  5. they do make dvd-rw's then you would not be wasting a buck:) ken
  6. gogs i have experienced the shimmer during transition as well i think it has to do with the transition rate try without music or without sync and see what happens post results and see if anybody else jumps in with a clue ken
  7. gogs welcome to the forum edge shimmer is a common problem especially on pictures that have borders and right side is the worst it has to do with shape of the pixels between shows shown on monitors and those shown on tv's years ago when videoing skaters they would have a chromed edge on the right side -- depending on lighting in the arena -- shimmering also used to occur when copying tapes and one past the signal thru an "enhancer" too much enhance made the images glow a better explanation of the problem might be found using the search for pixel size one of answers here http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...t=0entry13600 i googled and found this http://www.monitorworld.com/faq_pages/q28_page.html ken
  8. on the main screen of PTE right side just below the picture area if you click a slide a little "looks like " a sandwich click it and you will preview from that point n - music and sound ken
  9. ratfugel you are of course making an avi and then follwing the instructins re leaving it open? and then importing it into a dvd authoring program? which proggie? you are not giving us much to work with and you should be posting in the video section of the forum http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index....php?act=SF&f=4 ken
  10. AT 09:12 Sundy, i could not get any -- may be too busy thks tho Ken will try later 10:25 ok ken
  11. I would like to take this time to wish you and yours from me and mine a MERRY XMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR. May all your slide shows turn out perfect and I hope Santa brings lot's of new Gizmo's to aid you in their production. Last year at this time we were discovering how to convert our show's to VCD,SVCD and DVD - PicturesToExe v4.20 + AVI video output feature. Now you can produce your presentations as AVI video file and then (using special software) burn DVD-Video, VCD, or SVCD disc. (Please read chapter in the help about work with video output.) - a very steep learning curve. I think i have found a use for cd-r and dvd-r spindles -- great for catching slugs and snail's and other things ken
  12. from woody's wee 2.08 From: Woody's EMAIL Essentials [wow-robot@woodyswatch.com] Sent: Thursday, September 30, 2004 11:33 AM To: pbyk@sympatico.ca Subject: WEE #2.08 - Hotmail and Outlook changes Woody's EMAIL Essentials Make electronic mail work better for you Hotmail Changes | Outlook update | Capitals or not? 30 September 2004 - Vol. 2 No.8 quote snipped There’s an important change to Microsoft’s Hotmail service coming which will effect people who use Hotmail with Outlook or Outlook Express. Outlook 2002 or 2003 and Outlook Express have a feature to let you receive and send email via your Hotmail account but using the software interface instead of the usual web browser method. This is a handy way to store past messages offline or to compose long messages. Setting it up is fairly easy, just create a new email account in the software and choose the ‘HTTP’ or Hotmail option. Though it is labeled ‘HTTP’ in the software it actually uses an extension of the web protocol called WebDAV to communicate with the Hotmail servers. From now on, only paid subscribers will be able to access their Hotmail accounts via Outlook or Outlook Express. Microsoft says that WebDAV features have been abused by spammers and they need to clamp down on access. If you’ve been using WebDAV to access your email with an external email client then you have some time to decide what to do. Microsoft says that people who have been using the feature will be given continued access until March 2005. The paid options are to either join MSN Premium or Hotmail Plus ($19.95 a year). While Microsoft is ‘selling’ this as a anti-spam measure there’s no doubt it may help convert people to paying customers. It’s just as well this change is getting mentions in various media because you’d never know from looking on the Microsoft sites. There’s nothing on the Microsoft web site devoted to press announcements nor on the MSN or Hotmail sites – even the online help and account policies haven’t been updated. This change is a sad but alas necessary thing. While it probably won’t make a difference to the amount of spam we all get, it will make things a bit harder for the bad guys. ken
  13. Ian the issue of hotmail restrictions is a MS thing that they introduced a few months back iwill see if i can locate more info ken

  15. I have just burned 2 AVI'S TO DVD using my 2x LG burner used Nero suite and added nothing other than the standard background and buttons 01 avi = 408688 KB 32.46 mins 512x384 02 avi = 43,634 kb 04.05 mins 512x384 time to encode and burn first disk was +- 60 mins time to burn 2nd disk 6 mins 42 sec's final size was 1.74 gig worth every bit of the time to burn ken
  16. to throw some more to the pot, i quote a part of a thread by one of the moderators of another group re dual layer Date: Sat, 4 Dec 2004 11:58:25 -0500 From: Wayne Johnson <wdj@WAVIJO.COM> Subject: Re: CD/DVD At 03:29 AM 12/4/2004, Jim typed: >Can someone please suggest a CD/DVD RW with >the latest bells and whistles. Two sided DVD etc etc. I don't mean to >start a war here -- so maybe a quiet offering in the corner. I like the Pioneer line especially since they are the largest manufacturer of burners & they were also the first for PCs. I believe you have confused 2 sided with dual layer as one could have a 2 sided dual layer disk which would hold only 16 to 18g. Most any DVD burner will burn a 2 sided disk as you burn each side as if it's a single sided disk but the dual layer that's another issue entirely. IMO were NOT ready for DL [dual layer] disks yet in that most stand alone players will not play them most likely do to the fact that only the +R camp makes them & they are considerably slower at 2.4x which is approximately an hour to burn 8g of video or data. ----------+---------- Wayne D. 19. Robert the physical space savings alone is a plus -- i sent some shows and it was 7 cd's -- sent again new collection was 1 dvd -- big savings in postage as well as they say you cant have your cake and eat it too:) but i would include a text file to help you document/find what is on the dvd see http://www.homestead.com/algor/ FolderPrint Freeware utility allow save listing of directories(folders) and files on a hard drive or any removable media (local or networked) into the text file(comma delimited option for importing into database). Listing can be printed out in Standard Letter size ( 11 x 8 ) or in ZIP, CD, Jet, Jaz, etc... case layout; sorted by name, size, date, etc. Win95 ,Win98 , NT4. Size 360 Kb (180 Kb compressed.) Note: There are known issue with 'Browse' button under Windows ME and Windows 2000. A new release will have fix. works fine on xp ken

  21. Grobert welcome to the forum. ulead problems have been brought many times so if you use the forum search function you may get a hint as to the problem ken
  22. Kingbingo1 Igor uses system resources to create the temporary avi - -as long as the pte is open the system can "marry" all the components if you try to save the avi for use later and you closed the pte you will only get sound i have had as many as 8 pte's open at once -- until the dvd is burned and tested on home dvd players they stay open ken

Other than putting text directly on the original picture with a graphic program, or using p2e's Object editor Is there any way you could change the program in such a way for example that if I picked the top of the screen position i could lower/position it in increments to say 2" by using 4 buttons -- up - down - left - right ? farther down i get an answer ken
  24. goddi i think if you use thesearch function of the forum the problem with interlace and ulead has been discussed ken
  25. Gene, welcome to the forum. I have been making shows from friends and family that are taken with digital cameras - and some of the pictures are in the area of 2mb each -- if you have the computing power to make the show, use the images as taken -- p2e will make them fit the screen when set at 100%/fit to screen -- it is when people put borders on their pictures and then they come to the forum askinfg how they can get rid of wiggling horizontal lines at the edges when shown on a tv -- they might look great on a computer but are lost on the tv screens -- so i have adopted the idea that all my shows will eventually be on dvd /tv so i use big pictures and let the encoding make em fit see what Ken went thru to make things work for him http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...t=ST&f=4&t=2604 you can always reduce the quality/size of the pictures but you are not going to have much success making better quality picts when you start with small picts ken
