for a chart comparing the various formats see http://www.dvdrhelp.com/svcd also on this page is a link to information to create your vcd using svcd files see If your DVD Player does not support SVCD you can try this VCD header trick, it requires no reconverting which mean that you do not lose any quality. I have yet to try it 09:00 est i have tried the header trick -- got music but just blocks of pixels -- back to the drawing board ken

Bubba one of the problems i have seen is a lack of players that will play SVCD vcd and dvd + the other formats -- mp3 wma etc are the norm i have ran numerous comparisons between vcd and svcd and svcd is better -- also twice the size so i figure that dvd will be a whole lot better --- i made a dvd of a show on a cd-r as a test the exe = 3.6 mb avi 25.827 mb dvd = 153 mb of course it would not run see http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#2.3 but the figures show how much more its packed into a dvd ken

BOB that is why, if one is shopping, they want to take a series of disks with varying combinations of components to try in the piece of gear you are interested in -- the sales person will not likely know what the piece will do -- they are only interested in selling -- and it is a pain to rebundle the product and take it back when was the last time you tried to get all the stuff back in the box ken

Garris the opening/transition speed will depend on the dvd player -- a jpg only slideshow -- the players i own have different speed ratings - only one brand that i own will accept an exe and a collection[not in a folder] of jpgs-- again the make determines the max jpg size. see http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#2.3 http://www.dvdrhelp.com/ http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVD...earchcomments forgot - my jpgs are generally not >150 kb and they view on 13" to 33" tv's fine -- viewed from a normal distance -- pixelation is there when viewed when up close -- a 4x6" print should be viewd +- 1/4 arms length ken

you cannot save a pte created avi.vid file they are temporary Harry, I have not used Roxio dvd creator for a bit ---especially the multiple menu/track type of show as one of my players cannot access the extra tracks -- the p2e/tmpgenc/nero process has given me the best results and all my players can access the various tracks if i make a menu driven show As Ron says none of his family can play svcd shows -- i have also found this to be a problem -- if i go looking for someplace to test "home grown" show, i take a vcd and a svcd -- the salesmen invariably do not know what i am talking about when i say svcd -- they dont even know vcd -- all they know is hollywood type dvd's -- and some people who have 3 yrs or older dvd players cannot play cd-r vcd's -- we are into area of experimentation and it is going to take quite a while for "all people" to have dvd players -- believe it or not all households do not have computers --and those that do might be able to play games and get their email and browse the web -- beyond that the majority are lost so i will try to explain the process -- the basic process is explained by Igor's first entry in this section http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...t=ST&f=4&t=1408 you just open the particular p2e shows and create avi's - to save you hunting avi's/vid to import -- i would set up a folder to save the avi's to - you leave them all open and import them into easy cd dvd creator in the order you wish them to be -if you put them all on the same line they will be treated as one show - but if they are on different lines they will be on separate tracks . the svcd process is the same as the vcd process -- only the final product is different. when the roxio process has burned the disk then you finsh the open p2e's and the temp avi/vid files disappear i will email you screenshots of typical folder configurations of vcd and svcd --- i will not email you the screen shots of the contents -- the meat of the shows are in the folder labelled mpegav -- the video files in that folder have a dat extension - if need be - they can be opened with windows media player 9 by using the r mouse open with command ken read Igor's first thread on the subject http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...t=ST&f=4&t=1408 ken

Yahoo has a service -- max file/storage size used to be 30 megs can't say whether they charge or not -- they were talking about charging - yahoo's site would let you restrict downloads of a personal nature by putting your shows on the Cottage site, as it stands now anybody can access your shows - - this was evident late December early Jan when the Cottage site was closed down for excessive bandwidth use, Bill Hines initially set up the Cottage site for the forum members to share their shows -- when his site was closed down he had to change the number of and length of time shows were on his site ken

How to prepare and burn DVD-Video or SVCD disc
Ken Cox replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
Jacques there was quite a few comments on this subject did try a search interlaced gives http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...lite=interlaced Igor basically said leave it on in PTE and TMPGEnc looks after itself if you have TMPGEnc set at it's default settings ken -
Sandra welcome to the forum try taking the music out-- both tracks then add it again and see if it plays both ken

The best check is to go to known pages -- this one is varying shades of soft blue and pure white in the writing areas go to sites where faces are generally shown -- the UK daily http://www.thesun.co.uk/ has a wide variety of faces Periodically i scan in a known value -- in this case i scan a photofinisher's envelope -- when the scan is done i compare what is on screen as to the original and i set the curves of my scanner accordingly as Jim says you have no control over what settings are on other systems I have friend that is colour blind and i use him to test my cd's - he thinks they are great bottom line look for known values and adjust as necessary always please yourself -- you might have a slight bit of colour blindness ken
