Harry 21:34 11/25/03 using p2e 4.2 beta 2 just got done making a 5 part vcd final size on the cd = 261 mb took from 18:34 to 20:39 to encode it and 2 mins to burn the cd with a 32x burner IT 'S RUN TIME IS 29 mins 33 secs+- for details on my other burns see the thread http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...=2&t=1302&st=20 i think the only thing i have neglected was my swap file - i have it on a partition fixed size at 700 mb ken

Max you must leave the p2e process "running" until the vcd is burned do not click the finish button until you are completely done -- the easiest way is to save it into the folder you are creating your show from and direct the vcd creating software to that location you can test the file before im porting it to the vcd softwar by double clicking the avi wmp will play it in its entirety you can create multiple shows by opening other instances of p2e and creating the additional avi's -- i think this is covered in the help file -- and importing them to the vcd software ken

Lisa the picts from pcworld range any where from 30 to 375 kb and must not be larger than 640/480 see PC World's Digital Focus Newsletter-http://www.pcworld.com/howto/locations/0,loc,81,tk,dfx,00.asp and have a look at the archives and you can and save the picts and experiment the puppies were 11 to 58 kb at 720/540 -- the picts are part of a series -- picts are taken real close up with a wide angle lens to accentuate their noses -- sort of a fish eye effect another site to visit is http://www.mplonsky.com/photo/Gallery.htm he has picts of bugs that are sharp at 72 dpi -- i had good success puting some of his shots in a proshow vcd dont know what else i can tell you the puppy file is 14 slides 13 animal slides and an intro slide [the text on intro slide does not convert nice]zipped they are are 452 kb -- small enough to email if you want to play with them email me at pbyk@sympatico.ca ken

do you mean the individual slide names if so my comments from above posting make sure you have good size text and i would suggest not placing it on the slides -- use the object editor and put it there or as others have said many times make a slide up in a graphics program and put your text on the slide and then insert it in the sequence and same is mentioned in other recent threads http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...t=ST&f=2&t=1321 ken

if your software supports it harry you can burn a vcd but study the forum a bit see my post on http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...E=02&f=2&t=1302 ken

another success i used ver 4.2 beta 2 and made a multi show -- 3 shows - with roxio's dvd builder used one show that i had previously made with my pictures [100 dpi]using the beta 1 the exe was 4,248 kb the avi was 25,394 kb the other 2 shows were from pictures from the web -- one set was a series of puppies and the other was made with weekly winners of pcworld's photo contest -PC World's Digital Focus Newsletter-http://www.pcworld.com/howto/locations/0,loc,81,tk,dfx,00.asp both sets were 72 dpi - i elected to use someone else's picts to rule out any bias on my part -- - my own pictures have been adjusted -- in the case of the puppies i wanted to see the hair detail and the mix of pictures from the magazine were all winners puppies details exe was 1,143 kb avi was 25,394 kb pc world details exe was 10,815 kb avi was 53,889 estimated vcd size was 101 mb -- there is +-3 mb of overhead making the menu etc encode time was 48 mins and 50 sec. burned at default speed 32x - actual speed varies total time encode to burn complete 49 mins 25 secs. final size on the cd-r disk 90.6 mb. the show was played on a 6 mos old plain Toshiba dvd player sent to a plain 1 yr old Toshiba 29" tv the fine details of the puppy's hair, ears etc was perfect and the PCWorld show was just as good - my picts were -- well they were of my grandkids so what else can i say:)) my system details PIII 1.3 ghz 512 meg ram winxp home edition dvd builder portion of roxio ezcd platinum 6 be well rested before you start make sure you have good size text and i would suggest not placing it on the slides -- use the object editor and put it there or as others have said many times make a slide up in a graphics program and put your text on the slide and then insert it in the sequence verify the operation of every step in the bulding of the avi before starting the final process a lot of work, but was worth it -- good things dont come quick and easy ken

this was a question asked in this week's digital newsletter. Q&A: How Do I Copyright a Digital Photo? I've noticed that many pictures I see on the Web and elsewhere are copyrighted. What is the process to get a picture copyrighted? Do I have to repeat the process for each and every picture? --Carol Bar, St Louis That's a great question, Carol. Copyright is not well understood. Let's start with the basics: Copyright is the method established by the government to protect the rights of artists, regardless of what form their work takes--text, music, drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, or software. Violation of copyright is punishable by law. And since copyright violation is a tort, the artist can sue for punitive damages as well. In a nutshell, that's why you shouldn't take images from Web sites without the owner's permission. That said, how do you copyright something? Well, any work you create is automatically copyrighted. In other works, there is an implicit copyright on your work, and you don't need to do anything to receive some protection under the law. On the other hand, there are copyrights ... and there are copyrights. While no action is required to copyright something, if you ever expect to challenge someone in court, simply putting a copyright notice on your work before it's published dramatically strengthens your case. To assert your claim, just place a copyright notice somewhere on your image--use your image editor's text tool to add the copyright symbol [©] followed by the year and your name. That ensures someone can't claim that they thought your photo was in the public domain. Finally, the most aggressive copyright action you can take is to register your image with the Copyright Office in Washington, D.C. There is a form to fill out and a small fee to pay (it's currently $30), but this provides you with the highest level of protection available under copyright law. For the vast majority of us, though, that's overkill. For more information on the issue, visit the United States Copyright Office: http://www.loc.gov/copyright ken

Peggy it might be advisable to start a new thread re you reg key and write to Inna Malkova, WnSoft Inc., support@wnsoft.com explaining your situation Jeasco re "Didn't I read somewhere that the registration code is for life? " there was some talk of "grandfathering" existing keyholders if there was an enhanced version developed new people would have to pay more ken

Veronica, where is your original registration key and program. your original key will work on your present system. i still have ver 3.4 on my xp system and it still works fine. all you need to do is install the latest version over the original program and install the original reg key. If you are in the USA there is quite a time difference between the USA and tech support in Russia. in some cases the key gets scrambled by the email or anti virus settings on the recipients system. sorry this info doesnt solve your problem ken

Bert, a little time saver -- do not trash your original tiff's -- wait until you are happy with your show, then burn them to cd, then make sure you can read them from the cd before you take them off the hard drive ken

Kel welcome to the forum. just drag it where you want to put it and from the program help file First step 1. Creating new project In Main menu select "File" and then click "New" item (or press Ctrl+N). Type project name (for example, Project1). 2. Drive panel Use this panel to change drive for file panel 3. Adding pictures PicturesToExe supports .BMP, .JPG and .GIF pictures. Use file panel to browse for pictures on your computer Now you have to add needed pictures into image list. Each added picture will be a slide in your presentation. There are several ways to add pictures into image list: a) To add one picture: Set file cursor to the picture (in file panel) and press <Enter> or drag the file (with mouse) to image list; To add all pictures from the current folder: Click right mouse button and choose <Add all pictures> item in popup menu; c) To add some pictures to image list: Place file cursor to the picture and press <Insert> button or call popup menu and choose <Select picture>. Selected files become gray (in Windows standard color scheme). ken

I have been searching for an article that stated it was not wise to have exe's or folders on the desktop -- they should just be s/c's to exe's and folders. It has something to do with a system crash - i have a very unstable xp home and this summer during one of its performances i managed to lose track of the folders that had been on my desktop -- not nice trying to remember/recreate all one's little "cheats sheets". since then just s/c's on desktop. PCForrest StartMan version 1.3, if you can find it is my preferred for xp for win95/98 StartUp Manager 2.1 Copyright © 1997, Daniel Hofman - All Rights Reserved ken
