Greetings, I am wondering why the 'Rotate Clockwise/Counterclockwise' does not work for video clips? For clips that don't need to be converted or trimmed, it would be convenient, or just to be able to view them right-side up before using O&A. Should it? Gary

Greetings, I understand a new Convert/Trim window is coming in future Betas. However, I find the current method is a bit difficult to set begin/end points for the Trim function. My suggestion is to be able to set the Trim begin/end points while in the MiniPlayer window (Timeline view). The idea is to set the Trim's begin/end points first in the MiniPlayer window, then hit the 'Convert/Trim' button in the main window, as seen in the screenprint. Then the current Convert/Trim window would then open with the already set Trim points and settings/adjustments can be made from there. The current Convert/Trim window is really too small to made adjustments to begin/end points. Gary

Audio from GoPro terrible when video clip is converted
goddi replied to goddi's topic in Troubleshooting
Greetings Denis, Thanks so much. Just gave it a try and it worked!!! Do you know why the audio from Hero7 clips are being distorted in PTE when it does not happen to clips from Hero 5? I don't see any difference in the audio specs that could create this problem. I hope Igor will test the PTE 10 to be sure that Hero7 files will work with it. Thanks again. Gary -
Audio from GoPro terrible when video clip is converted
goddi replied to goddi's topic in Troubleshooting
Igor, What is strange is that I have not had problems using video clips in PTE from my Hero 5. I don't see any difference in the audio specs between the Hero 5 and the Hero 7. Can you see is there is a difference in the audio specs and what might be causing the problem? Not sure if it is a GoPro problem or something else. Can some test this short file in their PTE and see if the distorted audio problem also occurs with their PTE? Just trying to isolate what is causing the audio distortion. https://send.firefox.com/download/5ed040fba80b0a10/#K4FphpogAdIPb4tuFWf1AA (This link should be good for 7 days..) (JUST NOTICED THAT THE LINK EXPIRED ALREADY....NOT SURE WHY) Here is a new link...see if this works. Should be up for 7 days...not sure why it gets expired so soon. https://send.firefox.com/download/6d523829f58aecef/#7pl84Ly4oLVGg-qaEYnLWg Gary -
Audio from GoPro terrible when video clip is converted
goddi replied to goddi's topic in Troubleshooting
Igor, Here is a sample of an GoPro Hero7 Black video clip the shows the problem. You can play it in Windows Media Player with no problems. But when you play it in the PTE player, the sound is distorted. Please take a look at it and see if you can tell what the problem is. (The 'send.firefox' link will be good for 7 days or 5 downloads.) Thanks... Gary https://send.firefox.com/download/937375185843ba11/#gtkpwnUUU1ATt9GRxQHh7g -
Greetings, I have not had any problems in the past with 'GoPro Hero 5 Black' audio when a clip has been converted in PTE. However, I am now using a 'GoPro Hero 7 Black' and the audio is terrible after I convert a clip in PTE. It sounds as if in a wind tunnel, totally unrecognizable. Here is a screenshot of the audio portion of the original GoPro clip and after it has been converted from MediaInfo. The sound is just fine before it is converted in PTE and plays fine in WindowsMediaPlayer. Can you see anything that points to the problem? Gary Added Later: The GoPro Hero 7 video clip's audio is distorted, whether it is the original clip or the converted clip when playing in the PTE player. The original clip plays just find if played through the Explorer. Not having the same problem with the Hero 5, no problem with its audio, when playing a converted clip in the PTE player. I attached the distorted audio portion of one of the clips from the Hero 7. GH010013.converted.mp3

Igor, Just to clarify, if I use an H.265 (HVAC) video clip in the upcoming PTE10, will the PTE's MP4 output be readable in computers that normally would not be able to play an H.265 clip? Gary
-
Igor, What is confusing is you say, in Handbrake, to change 'H.264' to 'MPEG4'. But you also say H.264 (AVC) is the same as MPEG4. Aren't you starting out trying to convert an H.265 video to H.264? Seems that we need to convert H.265 to H.264, to be useable in PTE9. The original posting has to do with using HEVC in PTE9 and needs to be converted. Where does HVEC (H.265) fit in? I understand that HVEC codec will be usable in PTE10, but it can be converted using Handbrake to H.264 (AVC) so it can be used in PTE9? Gary
-
Igor, When you said 'change "H.264" option to "MPEG-4"', did you mean 'H.265'? I'm getting a Hero7 so this caught my eye. I thought H.264 was MPEG-4. Or am I missing something? Gary

Glad it worked... Gary

Glad it worked out. The program I use is not very intuitive. Tried every combination of settings until I got it right. But I kept getting an error message, "Encoded JPG detected (Photodex)...". Was this show created by ProShow? Just curious. Gary

Cedric,
In case you did not see my previous message, I have 233 images extracted from your PTE exe file. I need your email address so I can send you the zip file (41 Mbs) of these images

Greetings Cedric, I still have the program that should be able to extract images from a PTE exe file. I haven't used it in a long while and it is not an intuitive program. But, sure, if you can get it to me, I will be glad to give it a try. Hope I can remember how to do it. You can try a new way of sending files, mentioned by Igor. Try: https://send.firefox.com/ Seems pretty easy to use. I sent my email address to your PTE message box. Gary

Took me a while before I figured out what '3x3' meant. But you have to uncheck the 'In pixel' selection before entering the '3x3'. Gary

Greetings Cedric, Super!!! I tested both versions of my show and it worked just fine. But I looked at Slide 8 and it is not blank. In fact, Slide 8 and Slide 9 are the same image of a map (Slide 9 does a zoom). Besides that, all looked good. Thanks.. Gary

Greetings, I gave the 'PTE Info' a try. Some worked, others not. For example, I have two versions of the same show, only changed the background music, and removed some images for the most part. For those that it does not work, I get the following error. Both versions of the show have a blank slide as Slide 1, if that matters: Any idea what it could be? Gary

File list, used file name in bold characters
goddi replied to ppenen's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
Pierre, I agree and I have asked for this in the past. I'd also like to know which files have been used in the show, whether Main or not. I'd like to delete some of the unused files but not necessarily all unused files. Having to create a Template or do a Backup In Zip does not really address the problem. If every image/file had some indication that it has been used in the show, it would be most helpful. Gary -
Solution for the problem with "Controlled folder access" in Windows 10
goddi replied to Igor's topic in Equipment & Software
True. My point was that someone might activate this feature and then just go about their day. Then, a program that used to function does not work, as with the Adobe Premiere. But there was no error message or warning as to why it did not continue to open. It opened to the Welcome screen and just stopped. I only happened to put 2 and 2 together and figured it was this new feature. So I added it to the trusted apps list and now it works. But, I'm not having any problems with PTE 9.0.22 not being on the 'trusted app' list. Gary Added later: If a program works without it being add to the activated 'trusted apps' feature, and then added to the 'trusted apps' list, is it then 'protected'? -
Solution for the problem with "Controlled folder access" in Windows 10
goddi replied to Igor's topic in Equipment & Software
Igor, I took a look at the 'Controlled Folder Access' feature you mentioned. Out of curiosity, I enabled it to see what would happen. I tried to open my 'Adobe Premiere Elements 15' and it would not open beyond the Welcome screen. I then disabled it, and then the Adobe opened. So this 'feature' can cause problems beyond PTE. Gary -
Igor, Ok. I did a test. I converted a 60fps video clip (1:30) using Quality 25 and compared it to converting it at the default Quality 50. If I convert the 60 fps, 336 Mbs, 30.4 mbps clip at Quality 50, it converts to 60fps, 344 Mbs, 31 mbps. If I convert the 60 fps, 336 Mbs, 30.4 mbps clip at Quality 25, it converts to 60fps, 234 Mbs, 21 mbps. I could not detect any difference between the two conversions in quality or performance, even with the reduced bit rate. I do notice a quality difference in shooting a clip at 30fps vs 60fps. So it looks like I will be shooting at 60fps and just convert with Quality set at '25' and get a good playback and a bit smaller file size. Thanks... Gary
-
Igor, Yes, I understand that. My point was that the PTE convert process does not reduce the file size for a 60fps clip and it does for a 30fps clip. Gary
-
Igor, Both, the 60 and 30 fps clips were exactly the same (Format: AVC). The only differences between the two clips before converting were the fps (and the bit rates were only slightly different). If seems that the the PTE convert process is handling the process differently? I just expected the 60fps clip to also be reduced in size, not increased. (The 60fps clip was only changed to 30fps using Videoproc software. Nothing else changed. I only wanted to see how PTE handled the two different fps clips). My testing is due to that fact I am planning a trip where I will be taking a lot of video clips and want to be careful of file size and quality. Gary

Greetings, I haven't used my GoPro much but now trying to learn more how to use it for inputting clips into PTE. I've notice the following: If I convert a clip that is 30 fps, 295 Mbs, 27.3 mbps, it converts to 30 fps,168Mbs, 15 mbps. If I convert the same clip but is 60 fps, 328 Mbs, 30.4 mbps, it converts to 60fps, 336 Mbs, 31 mbps. So my question is, why would the conversion of a 60 fps clip increase in size and in mbps, when the 30 fps clip decreases? I see that the 60 fps clips from the GoPro are better quality than the 30 fps but I want to also keep the file size down. So I want to be shooting at 60 fps but just curious why the conversion process of a 60 fps cip does not follow a similar decrease in size and bit rate as conversion as a 30 fps clip. Gary
