  1. Greetings, My way of doing is... Have PS set as your Graphical Editor. Go to Settings/Preferences/System, Set Graphical Editor and point to your PS's exe file. Then, for images already in the show, right-click on the image you want to make adjustments to (whether the image is in the File List or Slide List) and click on Edit File. PS will open with the image. If you clicked on an image in the Slide List, after you've saved it in PS, it will automatically replace itself in the Slide List and the File List. Gary PS I see Jill already answered your question...
  2. Greetings Barry, Thanks...Very interesting. It seems that PS does not like that type of image with the Auto Levels. Kind of makes it a pain that I have to manually go through 500 or so images and select the ones that don't come out correctly. I don't have this problem with 'regular' images...only the ones with the sands in Namibia. Thanks for testing it. Gary
  3. Greetings, The problem seems to only be with these images where most of the image shows the sands. I you have an updated PS, I have attached a smaller file. It would be interesting to see you come up with a similar result...or not, doing a Levels (Automatic). I don't see a connection between PS CS5 and an operating system affecting the colors. But, it is an interesting theory. Gary
  4. Greetings, I use PS Levels all the time. However, when I apply the Levels (Automatic) to certain images, they come out really with strange results. When I apply the Levels (Auto) to images with sand, they come out almost monochromatic or yellow. Here is one image. Other ones come out yellow. But other images with only partly showing the sand, they come out just fine. Any idea why PS CS5 can't seem to handle this type of color in the image? I ask this because I am doing a Batch of over 500 images using an Action with Levels (Auto) to speed things up but seems I'll have to manually address these image individually. Just wondering what might be causing this issue. If I do the Levels manually, I don't get the monochromatic look. Gary Here is the 'manual' Levels:
  5. Greetings, Thanks...I'm still digging out images from slides that I have digitized... Gary
  6. Machu Picchu - 1992 After doing our Patagonia hike at the end of 1991, we continued to Machu Picchu (going by train from La Paz, to Puno, Lake Titicaca and Cusco, then Machu Picchu). Gary Oddi
  7. Greetings Igor and Jill, Yes, I tried 8.0.23. If I show Thumbnails in Filelist, the images all show up and the file info does show they are pointing to the correct location. I also just tried V565, it won't even open the .pte file. See below. Yes, I know of the arrow key to advance the images in O&A, I just think it is easier to use the F12 each time than the mouse. One finger on F12 and one on the mouse to select 'Main object'. Gary
  8. Greetings Igor, I see that I can easily use F12 to advance each image while in O&A and select Main Object 1 for each image, so it will just take some time to do this. But I think I will be able to bring it back into V11 to do some editing and rework the project. Gary
  9. Greetings Igor, I did install V8 and tried to open the old project. However, the Slide List does not automatically populate with the images. If I drag down an image, it is just a black image with an error message. Gary
  10. Greetings, I d/l'd version 8. It showed the files in the File List but would not populate the Slide List. I tried 10.5, too, but same problem. I've got over 200 slides in this one show so I don't look forward to having to do one-by-one to make each a 'Main object 1'. It won't even let me drag an image into the Slide List. Gary
  11. Greetings Jill, The show was made back in 2003. I don't have PTE8 anymore. Any other way to do a batch change for the images to be 'Main object 1'? Kinda strange I can't just save the .pte with the new location and have it stick. Gary
  12. Greetings, Previously, I had this problem copying files from a folder in a hard drive to another location on the hard drive. It was solved by temporarily renaming the original location's folder name. However, this time I have a very old show that was put on a CD. All the images, music and .pte files. After I copy all the files to my hard drive from the CD, all the files show up in PTE but none are highlighted. I removed the CD so the .pte could not refer to its old location but that did not help. I poked around and found that none of the images show 'Main object 1', each one is blank. If I change them to show 'Main object 1', that image then shows up highlighted. So my question is, is there a way to change all the images to show 'Main object 1', so I don't have to do one-by-one? Another thing I noticed that 'File Info' for the images does not work until I change it to 'Main object 1'. Then it shows the new location. Not sure what that means... Gary
  13. Yes, that is true. That is why my Golden Rule is to have all the images, audio files, or anything for each project is to be in one folder. But I know not everyone follows this Rule. Thanks...Gary
  14. Greetings, Ok...but...if I put the correct location in the File List in the new project, and save the .pte, it would seem that PTE would then know the new location of the images to be used in the new project. Having to rename the old folder temporarily just to allow PTE to 'find' and then correct the new location of the images is kinda strange. But, OK, it worked. Thanks... Gary
  15. Greetings, Yes, I had one more project folder that I needed to do the same thing to. I followed those steps and it worked. Just a bit strange that renaming the old folder allows the new folder to recognize the location of its files. Thanks.. Gary
  16. Greetings Jill, I renamed the original folder. The new folder then showed the correct folder for the images. However, when I renamed the original folder back to its original name, the new folder went back to linking the images from the original folder. I went back and forth many times and finally, not sure what I did differently, the images for both projects are linked to the proper folder. I think there is something not right. If I copy everything of a project to a new folder, set the file list to the new folder and save the project, you'd think everything would be working as expected. It did not. Not sure if there is something that can be done so this does not happen again. I never got any 'Missing File' in either folder when I renamed the original folder. Gary
  17. Greetings, No, I don't get the 'missing file' notice. The File Info shows they are all still linked to the original folder's location, not the new folder's location. Gary
  18. Greetings, I completed creating a new project. I want to do some testing and changes, but I want to put this entire project into another folder. So I copied the entire contents of the old folder to a new folder. I opened the new folder's .pte that was saved when the new folder was opened in PTE. However, none of the slides are highlighted...they are still referring back to the old folder's location. How can I create a completely different folder with the same contents of a project? I don't want to have to replace each image in the new folder, one by one. Any easier way? I don't really want to do a 'Create in Zip' because it would exclude images that I might want to use in the new folder. Gary
  19. Greetings, Sure, I do scroll through the YouTube AudioLibrary first, for hours. I've checked Macleod...used some at times. AI...not ready for prime time yet. But if you want folk, public domain, copyright free music, related to the country your show is about, it is very difficult to find. Finding ethnic music for India and Nepal that is really copyright free...and free, very hard. But my point is that when Facebook dings a song that is listed as copyright free, there does not seem to be any remedy to contest it. YT might have some way to do that. And many 'copyright free' sites require a monthly or annual subscription. I just filed a protest for another song I tried to use that is from the NCS site ('No Copyright Sounds'). This audio file was dinged by Facebook. I sent the info to NCS about this ding and waiting to hear back. So that is the struggle to find the music that you can use. I do try to use copyright free music but it is not always obvious that it really is or is not. Gary
  20. Greetings Rosy, I had forgotten that I started a Vimeo account many years ago and don't really like it. But I prefer the setup that FB (and YT) has. I can upload a video and friends and family will be notified and can watch without me having to send out links for notices. And there seems to be a restriction for the amount of videos uploaded. I'll just stick to FB and YT and deal with the copyright issues and they pop up. Gary
  21. Greetings Igor, YouTube will also give dings for copyright infringements, so it is just inconsistent in how YT and FB do it. I have used the links for royalty-free music you mentioned but it is very hard to find exactly what I am looking for. For example, my current project needs Nepalese music for a trip to Nepal. Very hard to find copyright-free instrumental Nepalese music. And even if it says it is copyright-free, it gets dinged by YT and no way to protest the ding. I was hoping to see if anyone has received a similar notice from YT and if there was any way to protest it or what it really means. I probably will just use the music and let it be muted in the '45+ countries' it mentioned, wherever they are. Finding appropriate copyright-free background music is probably the most difficult part of creating a PTE show. Gary
  22. Greetings Rosy, The AudibleMagic site is only used to check if an audio file is copyright'd or not. It is not for posting or hosting of videos. I used to use it for a long time but it seemed to have been removed for such use some time ago. I just happened to try it again and it seems to be functioning again. It is good to use because you can test your music or video file before you put it up on FB or YT. I don't have a paid or monetized account, either FB or YT. If you just post a link on FB to a PTE show, you still have to have the show hosted on some other site, which I don't have. I just enjoy making the PTE shows of my travels and events and put them on my FB page. I put some on my YT channel for my family/friends who refuse to open a FB account. Gary
  23. Greetings, I am having problems with music I’ve used in PTE shows. According to the site where I got the music, it is copyright free. However, it has been dinged by Facebook. But when uploaded to my YouTube channel, it shows no restrictions for the music. Also, when I upload the show to AudibleMagic, that checks on copyrights, it is approved to use. This happens many times. The Facebook ding shows this: Seems like Facebook just automatically adds this notice arbitrarily. And it does not make much sense. First of all, there are no links to challenge the ding. The ‘Restore Audio’ and ‘Post Muted’ links are dead. And when I play the show, nothing is muted. And who are these 45 and more countries? Also, it says it ‘…removed from 3 minutes and 10 seconds of your video.’ The actual music, a single file, lasts over 5 minutes. So none of this makes sense. Do I ignore the Facebook ding? Does it really matter? What is also weird is that some shows will not be dinged on Facebook. But the same show posted on YouTube my channel will show a copyright notice saying ‘Copyright-protected content found. The owner allows the content to be used on YouTube.’ There seems to be no consistency. Can anyone explain the Facebook ding about the video being muted in over 45 countries, while YouTube and AudibleMagic don’t show a copyright problem? Choosing background music for PTE shows is one of the hardest parts and important parts of making the show. I can spend more time trying to find appropriate and non-copyrighted music than putting together the show. I understand that some people claim they own the music just to get monetary results. But this Facebook ding seems impossible to deal with. Gary
  24. Thanks, Aleina...that's two of us! Gary
  25. Greetings Jill, I understand all that you have mentioned and I have done those steps. In this show, I have already put in all the still images that I want to use. Then, I am inserting the short video clips from the long video file. Yes, I can drop in the long video file, then roughly Trim the Beginning. Since I already have my still inserted in the Timeline (and the next slide is way, way far to the right), I have to drop down a dummy image where I want the long video clip to end, roughly. Ok. Then go back to the Slide mode and remove the dummy image. Then to trim the beginning and ends of this short clip more precisely, I bring it into the Adjust Time Range function. But even though the new video clip is only 20 seconds, the entire remaining long video is still there and I have to drag the far right triangle roughly to where I want have the final trim established and use the Start Time/End Time box to do the minor adjustment. If one does work with long video clips, I understand the lack of understanding with my work method. I prefer to do an actual trim and save the clip as its own file and it show up in the File List. I don't think my suggestions would affect anyone in a negative way, but actually make it more intuitive and easier. The Trim function can be made to be more logical and useful for trimming long and short clips. And, using the Convert/Trim process, as I prefer, allows you to use different Convert Presets for each trim if you wish. Gary
