  1. Greetings Chad, Re: Slow download--I am talking about when I downloaded the file from the OrangeDox link that I sent to myself. I sent a large file to myself and downloaded it and it seemed to take a very long time. Re: Confusion. The box where it wants the 'Share Link Reference Title (eg Website Link)'. That is not intuitive as to what you want or that it is needed. Ultimately, I stuck in the file title and got it to work. The 'Website Link' portion really threw me. Still don't know what it would mean. Also, it would be nice if we had the ability to copy the link to the clipboard, instead of having to highlight it and then do a Ctrl-C. And, I notice that the last part of a long filename does not get into the link. It seems to still work, but it adds confusion. See attachments. Gary
  2. Eric, I just tried it again and I got it to work. The problem was that I never filled in the 'Share Link Reference Title'. I sent the link to myself and downloaded the linked file. The statistics show that it was downloaded. Got it... But the strange thing I've noticed is that, if the link is long, the last part does not get into the active link portion. But it still seems to work, but very slow downloads. Thanks... Gary
  3. Eric, I have been trying to get this Orangedox to work but I can not. I have followed their instructions but I do not get any statistics to show. I have copied/pasted their link and sent it to myself. At first I was able to download the file from Orangedox but no statistics are shown. Now, I get a 404 error...can not find the file. Is it still working for you? What's the secret to make it work??? Gary
  4. Tom, My wife just got a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014. It's Android and can not create PTE shows. But I am amazed at the quality of the video when it plays the MP4 files made with PTE. So now a question. Why would we need 'Publish/Video for Mobile Devices...Tablet'? If an MP4 that is created using 'Publish/HD Video' produces an MP4 that plays on an Android tablet, why/when would we use the 'Publish/Video for Mobile Devices...Tablet'? And I play them off a memory stick and the show with the added video clips play smoothly. Not sure of the difference. Thanks... Gary
  5. Lin, When you say 'A video show made with PTE...', are you referring to an .exe or .avi or mp4 or just any output from PTE? Just not sure if you are being specific in the type of output or in general when you say 'video'. Is the 'exe' considered a 'video'? Thanks... Gary
  6. Dave, Yes, you can do that. But with PrtSc, you have to take additional steps to have another program opened (like Paint, etc.) and paste it into it and save it. Claudio is not concerned with getting a full screen res, I think. With the ScreenCapturePrint, you just set the area you want with your mouse to capture and you can immediately print it or save it or send it to the clipboard. If you have a lot of images or areas on the screen you want to capture, this is really a good tool to have handy. It is great, also, in capturing areas of the screen when you have a question about something on the screen, like in PTE's menus. Gary
  7. Lin, What I suggested to Claudio was to use this free program called ScreenCapturePrint: http://www.infonautics.ch/screencaptureprint/ I like it because you can very easily define the exact parameters of the screen area you want to print. I think if you use the Windows printscreen, you would get more than just the MiniPlayer or the O&A screen area that Claudio wants. Great program. Gary
  8. Peter, I have been checking out the 'star' again. Now, the 'star' is NOT greyed-out and it does show '...first unread post'. I wonder if they updated the software. So it is now working as you have described. Very strange but the problem seems to have been rectified, for me. Gary
  9. Peter, I see something new with this problem. When I get an email notification of a posting in this topic, I usually just click it to go directly to the posting. The 'star' is greyed-out. However, today, there was a new posting from Eric. Instead of clicking on the link in the email notification, when through the browser and openned the site and clicked on 'View New Content'. The 'star' is now black and, I think, the mouseover said 'first unread post'. I have 'New since my last visit' checked. So here is the problem. The 'star' should remain black and active to go to the 'first unread post' even though I might have made a posting to the topic because there might be many other unread postings in the topic since my last visit. I will have to wait for more postings to see and test what might be going on. Not too much activity lately. Gary
  10. Peter, If you are saying that the 'star' can be clicked on to be taken to the first unread post, this is not happening with me. My 'star' is greyed-out and does not function except to tell me, with a mouseover, that I have posted in the topic. If this is true, I wonder if it is due to the fact that I am using Win8? Please let me know if your 'star' is black or is it grey. When I have a black circle, it will take me to the first unread post. Thanks... Gary
  11. Greetings Peter, Ok, just for the sake of discussion, let's first talk about the 'New since my last visit' selection. If I have made posting to this topic, it shows a 'star'. To view the postings in the topic, I could click on page 2 and maually scroll down to find the first unread post. Or, I could click on the 'Today' icon, but that takes me to the 'last post'. Now, what if I am away from the Forum for, say, a week or more. And there are, say, as dozen postings that I have not read yet. Why would I want to go the the 'last post'? I would want to go to the 'last unread post'. This, to me, is a 'logical problem'. The previous version would take you to the 'last unread post'. Why change this logic? See attached. Gary
  12. Greetings Igor and Peter, Thanks for the info. I never noticed the small 'circle' that you mentioned. However, my small 'circle' does not say 'Go to last UNREAD post'; it says 'Go to FIRST unread post'. Maybe it was just a type. I don't see what the 'New since my last visit' does. It does not seem to do that. The 'star', indicating that I have posted in that topic, doesn't do much, actually nothing. So my only choice is to click on the 'Today...' to 'Go to the last post'. But what if I want to go to the first unread post in this situation, not just the last post? It would make more sense if it went to the 'Last UNREAD post', not the last post. I am sure I am the only one who thinks these changes are unintuitive and unhelpful. It seems they want to make something 'new' again by changing things that don't really need to be changed. What's new? It was logical before. Not so much now. I am sure, eventually, I will get the hang of this, but I give it two thumbs down. Gary
  13. Thanks, Igor. Much appreciated. Gary
  14. Eric, Every update or change to a program is never perfect. There are always something that needs a tweek. Why did Igor create a Topic for this??? Yes, I do think it is strange that I am the only one who reported this deviation from the way it used to be. But you have posted questions that no one else has had. So let's get real and just try to help out and not post comments that do not further the discussion in a helpful way. Don't know what SSC is. Gary
  15. Eric, I am getting pretty tired of unhelpful comments like that. We post what we believe and what we think and we ask questions. If a program worked in a certain way that was beneficial and logical before an update, I think one would believe that it should still be there after an update of a program. So all I am asking is to bring it back if it can be brought back. Making the people who are in charge of the program of a perceived problem seems to be a logical step. We do that with betas of PTE. Telling someone that it 'doesn't matter what you think' is pretty lame. If we just hum along, as you say, we surely would not get far. Maybe I don't have correct setting somewhere, maybe not. But, for me, the Forum is not acting as it did before the update. For all the questions you have posted on this site, I am amazed you even consider saying what you said. Gary
  16. Eric, Yes, I tried that. But I don't think that should be a requirement. If you select 'New since my last posting', and then 'View New Content', it should not show posting you have already read. It worked in the previous version, but not now. Gary
  17. Dave, So, could it be a setting that I have missed? When I click on the link in the email notice of a new posting, it goes directly to that new posting. But when I do what I have mentioned above, it does not show only the New Content, it goes to the beginning of the old read content. This is in Win8. Gary
  18. Dave, I also use Firefox, so I don't think it is a browser thing. Peter says to click on the 'Today' icon. That does not make sense. What if it has been a week since you viewed the Forum? Does the 'Today' only show what was posted 'today'? What about the postings prior to 'Today'? Selecting 'Contents I have not read' makes perfect sense but it does not do that. I added some screen shots. Gary
  19. Peter, I don't think you have understood my posting. If I go to 'View new content' for a topic, and, say, there are 3 pages of replies, and I have viewed every one except the last one, I expect to automatically be taken to this last posting. This is how it worked in the previous version. However, now, it dumps me at the very first posting in the first page of the three pages and I have to manually scroll to that last new posting. If this is the way it is 'supposed' to work, they have taken a step backwards for no good reason. Sure we can adjust, but why make the viewing of postings more difficult??? What good is 'View new content' if it shows you already read content? Gary
  20. Igor, The original topic was apparently removed but I don't think one of the problems was resolved. It still is not working as it did in the previous version. It does not recognize postings that have already been read, as I described in my posting in the original topic. Is there a setting I am missing or not?? It does not skip over the already read posts. I have 'New since my last visit' selected. Gary
  21. Igor, It still is not working as it did in the previous version. It does not recognize posting that have already been read, as I described in my previous posting. Is there a setting I am missing or not?? Gary
  22. Peter, I'm not sure if you are saying it is working corrrectly or not. But I think it is not working correctly, yet. For example, I have "New Since My Last Visit" checked. Then, I click on "View New Content". Then I choose the "Updating of the Forum Software" topic. It currently has 2 pages. Since I have been following this topic for each posting, I expect it to automatically go to the last posting on page 2. It does not. It goes to the first topic on page 1. Then I have to manually go to page 2 and scroll down to the last posting. This is the way the previous software worked. I hope it can be fixed. Gary
  23. Igor, Along this same line, it seems that the new software does not automatically recognize the postings that we have already read. I seems to always return to the first posting of a topic. So we can apparently manually click on "Mark Community as Read", but before it automatically placed us at the new unread posting without having to keep scrolling down to the new posting. Nor does it seem to pay attention to "New since my last visit". Gary
  24. Greetings JRR, I have mentioned this before in other postings, but this might be of help in getting more info from video and sound files. I like to use the MediaInfo program. It gives much more information about these files than the Windows Properties/Details tab. See the attached where I ran an mov in MediaInfo. Here is the site to download (free) if you want to try it out: http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo Gary
