If I remember correctly the Windows 64 bit for both .exe and .zip limit is 4 GB. If you create a .pteav you can create larger file sizes. I remember testing a few years ago and I had a slideshow of many videos with a duration of days. Then you can associate the player in Windows to run the .pteav files. Tom

Hi jmc, Thanks. I have not been very active in the forum due to spending time outdoors in nice summer weather. I have an idea to make a Tetris style transition that is different than Pascal's great geometric text transitions. Not sure how long it will take to create. Windows laptops usually have an option to run from the CPU graphics (Intel HD) or external graphics( Nvidia). I think if you right click under properties I think you can change the graphics mode. You might try the opposite to see if the problem is better or worse. Tom

Hi Igor, I can use my Windows PC when I need to make a bold cursive fonts. I did find a possible API that I will send by DM. Thanks, Tom

Hi Igor, Thanks. Font substitution also happens with Italics. Tom

While testing some Google fonts I noticed that many do not include bold versions. When the bold option is enabled PTE does a font substitution. If possible create a synthetic bold version of the font like Boxy SVG does. I think Photoshop has Faux Bold option too. Many graphic editors just have regular font with bold disabled. Also the font rendering on Festive looks different. Examples from here https://fonts.google.com/?category=Handwriting Thanks, Tom Mac Ventura 13.4.1 PTE AV Studio 11 Pro 11.0.6 (Apple Silicon)

I sometimes run First Aid from the Disk Utility app to check for errors. I have not had problems with PTE Apple Silicon for Mac in version 11.0.6 and Ventura 13.4.1. Tom

We have copy and paste objects, but no duplicate object/layer. It would save time there was a duplicate option and is an option in some other programs. I don't know if control D or cmd D is available. I think on the Macs it moves a layer down. Tom

Hi Rosy, Unfortunately my IP address is outside the UK so I would probably need to use a VPN server in the UK to watch the show. Tom

Generative AI is very interesting. The background fills are sometimes very good. Mona Lisa has been a favorite subject for fills. Tested in photopea. One image I told it to fill with mountains. For the other image I did not tell it to fill with anything and it added some random objects. I have no idea what machine learning algorithm it uses to fill in with objects. The colors it chose are very good overall but the blending is not perfect. AI is also being used to create music, design, and write. AI copyright is a hot topic. Maybe some day PTE will have AI. Interesting that Pixelmator Pro, a popular graphics editor for Macs did not work properly. Affinity Photo 2 and Logoist 4 had no problems with the font. I emailed Pixelmator Pro support but I doubt it will be fixed as fast as it was in PTE. Tom

Off topic, but interesting technology. Caltech has created a virtual globe of planet Mars (Google Earth also has a lower resolution version of Mars) with a combined 5.7 trillion pixels of the Mars planet surface. https://murray-lab.caltech.edu/CTX/V01/SceneView/intro_c.html Tom

So far Reey seems to be working in PTE for Mac without extra lines and the other graphics apps I have tested on the Mac (Boxy and Art Text 4). Tom

Very nice. I wonder what it must be like for children that grow up with the internet and smartphones/tablets everywhere. I was about 35 years old before the internet was available with the world wide web and did not get my first smartphone until I was about 50 years old. I know my nieces and nephews started using tablets before they could walk or talk. Sometimes I miss newspapers, comics, handwritten letters, and research in libraries. Tom

Support Apple .HEIC file format
tom95521 replied to willemx's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
Hi Denis, I agree it would be a nice feature. Currently on a Mac (11.0.3) it's possible to create a show with HEIC files and publish as a Windows Safe Executable for PC. When the Windows PC tries to run the show it will show an error message on a HEIC file. Ideally Windows version of PTE would support HEIC or the Mac would provide a compatibility warning during publish. Tom -
Photopea has a feature to add 3D effect to text. It would be great to have something like this in PTE. It is much faster than adding many layers of text. https://twitter.com/photopeacom/status/1604942653451390976?lang=en Thanks, Tom * The problem with a 2D continuous drop shadow would probably be noticeable if the text is rotated on the X or Y axis unless the drop shadow is updated in real-time.

I sometimes check https://www.cameralabs.com/ if I am looking for reviews on cameras. I'm sorry to dpreview shutdown. It was always interesting. Tom

Hi Renato, This should be easy to do with 2 masks. One mask to cover HDTV and one mask for an expanding circle with edge blur. Tom

Metadata Color profile and Color space and ? characters [SOLVED]

Hi Igor, More metadata would be a nice addition. Thanks, Tom -
Hi Rosy, I found it on my Windows PC. Interesting that if I watch a Windows created .pteav slideshow on my Mac that it can display a vectorized version of the Curlz MT without having it installed on my Mac (no font substitution required). If I install Curlz MT on my Mac then I can create slideshows with the font. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/typography/font-list/curlz-mt The paper towel absorbs some/most of the oil from the bacon. The less oil the healthier, but less taste I guess. I am happy eating Quorn instead. Thanks, Tom

Hi Rosy, Good attempt at an AF breakfast. Many years ago when I was addicted to Bacon Lettuce and Tomato sandwiches I remember wrapping bacon in paper towel and microwave for a few minutes. Our local bulk food store sold microwaveable bacon, but plain bacon works too. What is the name of the curly font? Thanks, Tom

I have been experimenting on my Pixel smartphone shooting JPEG + RAW. For JPEG I duplicate the layer set to multiply blend then adjust blend amount using opacity slider. I don't see much difference in dynamic range in RAW after adjusting exposure levels to remove clipping. My test software is Pixelmator Pro, Affinity Photo 2, and Luminar Neo. I am beginning to think RAW is not worth the effort for most smartphone photography. I am guessing most DSLR users disagree. My future smartphone tests will include camera HDR and editing software HDR. Tom https://share.cleanshot.com/qPvJy4xR

I should know the answer to this question (probably mentioned in beta testing) but File Info is not something I look at very often. The question marks in the color profile text between the letters and also why sometimes graphics program uses different text to specify the color profiles. I think PTE only reads Color profile and not Color space? Thanks, Tom Mac mini M2 Ventura 13.3.1 PTE 11.0.3 Build 2

Hi Igor, Very nice. Your technique and Barry's are almost the same. A partial image with transparent background (webp or png) for the bottom section. I think using a mask or maybe multiple image crops might work and would work with videos. It is interesting how many different methods could be used. Thanks, Tom
