BullGuard protection is transitioning to Norton
tom95521 replied to rosy's topic in Equipment & Software
I'm still mad at Symantec for buying Sygate back in 2005 (my favorite software firewall) and dropping it after purchase to avoid competing with their own product. That was a great firewall program for Windows at the time. Tom -
Thanks. Lens replacement is relatively safe and quick procedure. I am not worried. Displacement mapping reminds me of bending light like lens refraction. Tom
-
Hi Denis, I hope Igor adds these transitions you created to PTE. They are really good. Mine are okay but not quite perfect. I'm scheduled to get refraction correction/lens replacement surgery (Alcon Vivity) and hope it will improve my vision. Thanks, Tom

Hi Denis, I updated PTE to Beta 2 and the transitions imported just fine. I must pay more attention to updates in the future. Great transitions. Thanks, Tom
-
I can see the image files if I change the extension to .zip and decompress. Probably something about my system. I will check again after Beta 3. Thanks, Tom
-
It's still not working for me. Maybe if you post project zip it would be included or I will wait for Beta 3 to fix the bug. Thanks, Tom

Hi Denis, I am having trouble using the transitions. I have 2 files that are 0 bytes. They are onde30 and test30. Thanks, Tom

I have fixed the rain shift problem (in all the transitions) due to incorrect opacity values and displacement map strength. I also experimented with water transition based on filter forge tropical water bump map. There are 3 variations. From mild 1 x 100 = 1 cycle with strength 100 To strong 7 x 300 = 7 cycles with strength 300 There are also 3 extra versions that have x 360 for rotation of normal maps for strange effect. Slide Option Transition in Project Option Transition [SOLVED]
tom95521 replied to tom95521's topic in PTE AV Studio 11 Beta
Cool. Thanks, Tom -
Just a theory but maybe a displacement mask frame and opacity mask together? I think a frame works better to displace the objects below. Tom
-
Yes. Of course you can use anything I post. I hope you can improve upon the basic concept. Thanks, Tom

Today is my farming day but I will look into this when I return. I think I added a neutral grey (RGB 128) behind the slides because when cross fading between slides it appeared darker than either slide. I think I can fix the problems. Thanks, Tom Update: I now keep slide 2 at 100% opacity to fix the cross fade. I think this solves the problem and how the PTE dissolve transition works. I have not found the problem with rain transitions so far. Ripple4.pteeff

Latest version. So many variations possible. I used a spiral 2K jpeg normal map displacement image. I will keep playing in my spare time. Tom Ripple3.pteeff

First attempt needs work. I think the normal map displacement is reversing so I tried to emulate by using 2 normal maps and oscillating opacity 50 percent out of phase. Tom
-
Hi Igor, I had forgotten about those transitions. My first thought is I think I will need to add an opacity mask to see the second slide in the displacement spiral. The curved wave front displacement should be easier. I did not think about saving size on mask but it's easy to change to jpeg. I will see what I can do and maybe others wish to play with the idea. I am not an expert, that is for sure. Thanks, Tom

Here is my last version I think. On to other projects. Various number of ripple spirals and 3 random location versions. I like it when the ripple patterns touch each other and create new distortions. Tom Ripple2.pteeff

Thanks everyone. Maybe Igor will add a displacement transition. This was only an experiment testing normal maps. I might make another version with random drops. Feel free to improve on the transition. and post. Tom Only 1 random option, not finished.

I like displacement maps. They are very powerful but will take some time to learn how to create the custom masks. I created a simple spiral object in BoxySVG and then converted using https://cpetry.github.io/NormalMap-Online/ Tom 1,2, or 4 ripple transitions. Ripple1.pteeff

My Skyreat 1.33X anamorphic lens for the GoPro has arrived but I have not tested. I hope to test soon. Thanks, Tom

Image crop is very fast. I don't think this method would work on other software. Thanks, Tom

I have updated 4:3 and added two more aspect ratios for NTSC and PAL format videos. Not sure how useful it will be for images but I think it sometimes helps videos. I use it to convert old 4:3 DVDs to 16:9 and add a slight amount of sharpen to the video. You could always make changes to the style zoom values. I think the original SuperView was designed to use the full sensor aspect ratio (4:3) instead of cropping to 16:9 and losing pixels. Playing with aspect ratio conversion. Instead of a linear X zoom it uses 10 image crops with 5 different X zoom values. I am planning on purchasing an anamorphic lens for my gopro and I wanted to test converting aspect ratios using image crop feature in PTE. GoPro has a SuperView feature that does something like this inside the camera. Probably not a style that is useful for most people unless you want your 4:3 media stretched to 16:9 instead of cropped. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anamorphic_format https://community.gopro.com/s/article/What-is-SuperView?language=en_US Tom Anamorphic Stretch.ptestyle

Yes, there are many options for trimming/splitting/cutting videos. I think the PTE version of trimming is good except I wish PTE would auto update the slide duration after making the main object video shorter or faster. Tom

I find that sometimes I have to repeat changes I have made to the shadow adjustment. I know I can save the settings and load them back again. If there was an editor setting to retain shadow adjustment settings then it would save me time. It would be even faster than the other method of selecting all the objects and adjusting the shadow settings. Tom
