  1. Yes. The GoPro Volta adds about 4 hours of recording time (if your memory card is large enough). Some people have had problems with the USB interface not working as a remote, with the bluetooth still working. It's supposed to be fixed with a firmware upgrade. https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/mounts-accessories/volta/APHGM-001-master.html Also the 155 deg. FOV max lens mod for maximum hypersmooth and level correction. https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/mounts-accessories/max-lens-mod/ADWAL-001.html Tom
  2. I decided to order the GoPro. I wanted the option to overlay gauges like speed and elevation using GPMF data embedded in the video or imported from a data logger on my smartphone. Thanks, Tom
  3. Hi Rosy, Good idea. I will do more research. I assumed the GoPro had the best stabilization, but maybe there is a less expensive option that has better stabilization than my existing camera. Thanks, Tom
  4. I have a seldom used 2 year old Yi 4K action camera (GoPro clone). Recently started e-biking and thought I would try to capture video. I notice image stabilization problems on rough country roads. I am thinking of upgrading to a GoPro 10 and use hypersmooth or reelsteady to stabilize the video. Also I am upgrading my e-bike seat with suspension system that might help. Does anyone have a GoPro and have they created biking or hiking videos? How is your stabilization compared to the video below. Some of the YouTube videos look amazing but never sure if they give impartial reviews or payed influencers. Thanks, Tom Yi 1080p/30 Chest Mount
  5. Goode idea. I like how Boxy handles history with slider or button or selection. Tom
  6. In case you are looking for a decent graphics or drawing program for Windows, Mac, or iPad without a subscription fee like Adobe. https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/ Tom
  7. If you want to try to chroma key the background then you could try using Google Chrome and press F12 to get into DevTools. Then you can adjust the background color by editing the html code. Remove app-bg and bg-image-full from <div class="app-bg bg-image-full bg-classic"></div>. Select a background-color from .bg-classic. I'm not sure about using a video alpha channel (limited to certain codecs) unless it's an animated gif. Thanks, Tom
  8. I think the cloth animation algorithm is interesting. Amazing what javascript can do. If you want to make a quick flag in PTE just upload your image and then screen record a video. Many options to change wind, background, flagpole. https://github.com/krikienoid/flagwaver#readme Animate any image https://krikienoid.github.io/flagwaver/ Tom Demo
  9. My results from comparing encode times using the very versatile Shutter Encoder software. I was surprised how much faster the AMD Ryzen was for AV1 encoding compared to the Mac Mini using Shutter Encoder. The H.264 encoding time is the same. The fastest encoding was 1 min 49 sec on the Mac mini M1 (almost real time) using Wondershare Filmora 10 or 11. AV1 is apparently not supported on the Windows version of Filmora. The new Intel AV1 GPU encoder is supposed to be 50x faster than CPU encoding. Tom Source video 1080p 33 Mb/s 1min 44sec 432 MB Output video converted to 5 Mb/s Mac Mini M1 SSD macOS 12.3.1 H.264 HW 33 sec 69 MB H.264 CPU 1 min 25 sec 69 MB AV1 CPU 16 min 39 sec 67.8 MB (11x slower than H.264 CPU, 30x slower than H.264 HW) AMD Ryzen 2700 SSD Nvidia 1660 Win 11 H.264 HW 27 sec 69 MB H.264 CPU 1 min 25 sec 69 MB AV1 CPU 3 min 8 sec 66 MB (2.2x slower than H.264 CPU, 7x slower than H.264 HW) Update: April 5 I am now getting faster than realtime encoding in the M1 version of Filmora 11. The Sample Project is 2 min 36 sec and the AV1 encoder is finished in 2 min 15 sec (>60 fps). When AV1 is added to PTE AV Studio I hope it works as fast. https://tommendenhall.com/pte/compare.html
  10. From my limited testing AV1 software encoding is much slower than H.264/H.265. Now we are finally getting hardware encoding support for the open source AV1 codec. I hope AMD and ARM chips catch up with Intel. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-ARC-GPUs-trump-AMD-and-Nvidia-with-hardware-AV1-codec-support-as-game-streaming-demo-vs-HEVC-shows.611051.0.html Tom
  11. Future Windows personal computers will also have System On Chip (SoC) technology. It makes more sense to have a single large chip with shared cpu, memory, and graphics on a high speed backbone. My 2020 model M1 mac mini has been very fast and reliable. Tom

  12. Hi Rosy, This brings back old memories. In the 1960s my older brother was a mechanic in a foreign auto repair shop. He owned a very cute little Austin Healey bugeye Sprite that he painted bright yellow. He then upgraded to the faster Austin Healey 3000 he painted bright red with electric shift overdrive and also a BSA 441 Victor dirt bike. The bike was single cylinder and it was a real thumper. I think it had a compression release to make it easier to kick start. Thanks, Tom
  13. They are really easy to make if you have an evenly lit green background. Even then the reflected light from the green can leave a tint or halo around the foreground object if the lighting is not perfect. Green screens have been replaced in movies and news channels by projection or HDTV backgrounds because it removes the green halo effect. Sample video from https://mixkit.co/free-stock-video/female-reporter-reporting-with-microphone-in-hand-on-a-chroma-28293/ Tom
  14. Maybe something like https://exiftool.org/ to add the metadata you want to display to EXIF Info text template? Tom
  15. I created ptearchive.com site when playing with php. I thought when I retired a few years ago I would have more free time. I kept the site active only because I have other sites so it is not an added expense (other than domain registration). Thanks, Tom
  16. I have been testing the Plex Media Server on my Mac mini (free version, not Plex pass). It supports both DLNA and Plex clients. I prefer the Roku Plex client over the Roku DLNA Media player. No playback hesitation but it does buffer at the beginning of the video when using Direct Play. This happens on video repeat so it might be due to limited buffer size on the Roku. I have another Roku with extra microSD storage that I need to test. Since it's an older Sony model I can only view videos in 1080p. I have not tried transcoding options. Tom
  17. Cool. I like the animated masks. Thanks, Tom
  18. I have an older Sony HDTV (not smart). I use my relatively new Roku player with USB for my slideshow media files. I have no sound issues. Instead of replacing the TV you might consider an external media player like Roku. https://support.roku.com/article/208754908 Tom
  19. It would be convenient when comparing image/video of multiple versions of the same media to display the file size. If the file size is greater than 1000 KB switch to MB values. Maybe possible to add with exif data but easier if PTE would just display the size. Thanks, Tom
  20. I use Create Backup in ZIP listed under File. I guess it all depends on what you want to do. Tom
  21. Hi Barry, Another option for arrows is a font like this example. It is a vector format that can be enlarged without pixelation. The font does not have to be installed on a PC that is just viewing the slideshow. There are so many different methods to do things in PTE. https://www.1001fonts.com/arrows-font.html Thanks, Tom
  22. As a part time senior student at the local University I am lucky to have access to all the Adobe Creative Cloud software. In my limited testing I did not find much difference in quality between Photoshop and PhotoGlory. Back to the original topic. Fantastic slideshow of old black and white photos, colorized photos, and rust. I know a few people that collect old metal objects that rust and they place in their yards as art sculptures. Not tractors, but pieces of boilers, saws, etc. Thanks, Rusty Tom
  23. Hi Barry, Photoshop colorize filter processing is done in the cloud? I thought it downloaded the neural filter to the PC and it does the object detection and color processing? I have PhotoGlory which is a less expensive Windows only alternative. It is not a cloud based colorizer. It's not perfect and the skies are usually washed out. Thanks, Tom https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/colorize.html https://youtu.be/9rfb_AHLIwY?t=306
  24. This probably would not be the highest ranking feature requested but I was wondering how hard it would be to add different gradient interpolation options like in Photoshop. It looks like PTE uses classic (cubic) interpolation. I really like the perceptual interpolation version. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/gradient-interpolation.html Thanks, Tom
  25. Maybe in the future monitors will have new technology that will lessen the moire pattern. I understand some camera models do not have a low pass filter or use FFT filter to fix moire patterns. If I notice the problem I will add smoothing. Thanks, Tom
