Kalain, I think your points have merit. In particular I would like to have someday the ability to hide objects, similar to the hiding of layers in "Photoshop" and in "Flash".
-
Granot, I don't think this is the correct interpretation. The way I understand this is that if you are distributing mp3 music using Thompson software and/or equipment, and your sales are under $100,000, you won't have to pay license fees for using the encoding facilities. You still have to respect the copyright laws regarding use of the music itself.
-
Ron, This hasn't been activated yet. Next beta.
-
Ragnar, I find that it works as before in "sync" mode. Are you synchronizing the show to music?
-
This request has been raised several times in the past, but it is a valid one and would help a great deal in visualizing one's project and remembering where the objects are.
-
Granot, Good to have you back with us. You must have mis-spelled the URL for the link. It should be: http://www.mp3licensing.com/help/index.html This would indeed be great news, but it's different from my understanding of the situation - unless the courts have established something new in the last few months. I know the wedding photo industry has been lobbying to have more realistic rules put into play. I believe that the license referred to in the referenced FAQ is for mp3 technology, not the use of mp3 music, itself.

This will be great news to many expectant people!

Haydn "the création" part II (track 13)
alrobin replied to smithore's topic in Slideshows & AV Shows
Stephane, I just wanted to tell you again how much I enjoy your shows, particularly the last two on Haydn's "Creation" - you are a true AV artiste! By the way, can someone, maybe a moderator, please tell me how and why a thread can be marked "closed"? I wanted to post this message in the thread started by Stephane, but it was marked "closed" and refused to take my reply. I think I just found the answer to my own question - it's because there is already another thread open. Maybe the posts should be moved over when that happens. (and I can't seem to be able to delete this post and repost to the proper thread!) ?? -
Kalain, Welcome to the Forum! Re your suggestions: 1. I think this would be a good idea - maybe a small, compact menu window with text boxes to show the current PZR and time parameters and be able to make changes as required, without having to click on the correct properties tab. 2. I'm with you on this one too. Quite often I wish I could nudge the keypoint by clicking on the arrow bars, but of course these serve only to change focus from one keypoint to another. "Ctrl - right-arrow" and "Ctrl - left-arrow" would work just as well and be valuable additions. However, these improvements should probably wait until after Igor issues the current updates to the program.
-
I've noticed google.com logged on for some time now, and I suspect it is just their search engine looking for information.
-
No, there's no sound associated with the "O&A" window. This is one of the things Igor has said he will consider, but no definite promises yet. However, you can access the "Preview" window from the O&A window, but it's just the same preview that you see from the main window of PTE.
-
Terri, Windows Explorer will show a small file like that as 1 Kb, but if you right-click on it, and select properties, you will see it's true size (less than 1 K.) If it shows 231 bytes (not Kb), then it is probably OK. Just put it in the same folder as the rest of PTE and double-click on it and it will install the key into the registry.
-
Tabyrd, It sounds like your file may have been corrupted. What size is it? The proper "key" file should be exactly 231 bytes in size. Igor will probably come to your rescue - however it is now the weekend over there, and you may not hear from him until Monday. Be patient - this problem will be resolved.
-
Igor, This is great news - we'll be all charged up and ready to try out the new product! Have a great weekend!
-
Hi, Colin, Welcome to the Forum. Igor has promised an option in the new version which would allow one to accelerate and decelerate a pan or zoom smoothly at the beginning and/or end. You can approximate this now by using a lot of key-points, but this may not be very satisfactory, and is a lot of extra effort.
-
JP, Happy Birthday! Hope you're feeling well enough to celebrate with a bottle of champagne.

submarine, Welcome to the Forum! WnSoft usually close down over the weekend, so that could be a reason for no reply yet. However, don't despair - the enjoyment you will get out of PTE in the future will be well-worth any wait at this stage of the game. It sounds like you already have your key so all you have to do is go onto the WnSoft website and download PTE 4.48, the latest "official" version of PTE. Then you simply put the "key" file in the same folder as the one where you downloaded and installed the "trial" version of PTE, double-click on it, and voila! - your registration "key" will be put into the registry and will unlock the program for you. Let us know if you have any problems locating the key file. See HERE for some further information from the forum on registration of the program. Best of luck!

Hi, Jean-Pierre, It's so good to hear from you again at last - sounds like you had a really close call! So, now I hope you will be able to get lots of rest and take care of yourself until you gain your strength back. And, I hope you will be able to participate here on the Forum again soon. All the best!

Hi, Philippe, Welcome to the Forum! No, you only have to copy the "exe" file onto the CD as all the necessary music and image files are embedded into it. Do the links work from the exe file when you copy it from the CD to a different computer? I presume you are using version 4.48? If not, and you are using version 5, then keep in mind that these objects are not yet available in the beta version.

Paul, That size is probably larger than your system can handle without shutting down all the other running processes. Of course it depends on how many other images are also that size, and whether you have a lot of objects in play. I have used very large images for panning, but they are large only in one direction, depending on the direction of panning (either horizontally or vertically). For zooming, it might be necessary to keep the zoom ratio to no more than 2 times the screen size. Otherwise, you might have to use the method I described earlier to shut down all other background processes. Also, try reducing the jpeg quality to achieve smaller image files (you can get away with lesser quality images if they are in motion through panning or zooming than if they are stationary on the screen). "Fit to slide" should not be a factor unless you are leaving your computer monitor set at a very high resolution.

Hi, Brian, Glad it helped! This program is becoming so complex it's hard to remember all the inter-related parameters. Not complaining - just an observation! We like it here in Ottawa - there seems to be something for everyone to enjoy. I often wish I lived a little closer to those Rocky Mtns, though! Best of luck with PTE!
-
Paul, Sounds like everything should be OK and you should have the horsepower to run things smoothly. I would try "Enditall" (I believe it's been replaced by "Taskpower 2") - it's very easy to use, and works for me on both pc & laptop. Just a bit of a nuisance if you have to use it whenever you are viewing or previewing a show. You might use it to narrow down the problem, though, by eliminating the other processes one at a time.
-
Paul, Have you started using a higher monitor resolution? If so, this could be the reason for some stuttering. I find I need to adjust my monitor to around 1280x768 to eliminate stuttering during the transitions. Also, it helps to shut down all other non-essential processes in the background before previewing or running a show, especially if your show has a lot of action happening at once, or too-large images, etc. I use a little utility called "Enditall" (advertised HERE) to shut down processes which are not required.

Peter, Welcome to the Forum! Glad you decided to join the ever-growing group of PTE afficionadoes world-wide, some of whom have been happily using PTE for many years now. The term "firm release" does not apply to PTE - it is simply a rather arbitrary point in time during the ongoing, continuous development of a high-quality, full-featured product. Like any software product, it will never meet the total needs of everyone, any more than any other piece of software does. I can understand your concerns when you are new to a program, and haven't had the experience that the rest of us have had in using it most successfully over the years. You have to use a product for a while before you develop any loyalty to the brand, or develop a confidence in the providers. I can safely say that even if development on the program ceased tomorrow, I, for one, would still be happily using it in its present form for years to come - that's how good it already is. However, WnSoft in the past have demonstrated an interest and a willingness to bend over backward to give us new requested features and we have no reason to believe that the future will be any different. If you are expecting someone to give you a guarantee, then you won't get it here as no one knows any better than anyone else when different features will be available. WnSoft have given us their targets, but like any other software, when you run into unforseen design issues and have to re-design existing features and certain core areas of the program in order to make them all fit, and work smoothly together, then these targets can easily become impossible to meet. One thing we can be sure of, however, is that the new features will not be made available until the designers are satisfied that everything else in the program is compatible with them. As Lin mentioned, the current beta version of the program is a well-functioning and full-featured version, and no one should have any qualms about using it to display one's images in a satisfying, enjoyable and professional manner.

Hi, Brian, Welcome to the Forum! Yes, you can preview in full screen just as you do in v.4 provided your show meets the following requirements: 1. The aspect ratio in "Proj Ops / Screen" is the same as that of your screen. 2. The images are also of this same aspect ratio. 3. You haven't displaced the images in "O&A" so that they are outside of the black rectangle indicating the viewable area. If you are still having problems, you can email me your project file (no images or music files), and I'll see if I can see anything out of line. My email address is alrobin @ alrobinson.com (no spaces).
