You know Ken, surprisingly I don't recall smelling the flowers ! They were nice to photograph - they close up each night and don't open until 9 or 10am, so you get to sleep in.

Ralph: Thanks for putting in the link. Thanks for the comment re the excellent photography - you should have seen the shots that did not make it into the show, they would have made these look even better :) Ken: Thanks, and yes the Florida flamingos would have looked better, but then that would be cheating ! Lin: Thanks for compliments. And also thanks for putting some oil on the rusty brain of mine and advising how to remove the comments from some images. Normally I would have put the comments in via Photoshop to ensure that they all were lined up, but using the file name and the comments from Project Options was much quicker. Bert: Glad you had a chance to spend 4 weeks over there. The pics represented about 70% of the different birds we saw/photographed. Yes most photographers go for the "big game" as did we, but being bird photographers too, we kept out eyes out for the winged game as well. We were in Tanzania for slightly over a week and then several months later (long story) we were in South Africa for 6.5 weeks, 2.5 in Kruger and 2.5 in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park on the border with Botswana. Another week was in Namaqualand photographing spring flowers, and then finally a few days in Cape Town. So I suspect we had more chances to see birds than you did. If you want to see (or share some of your Africa shots) join us on Google Plus (G+). Keep an eye on African Tuesday and Threatened Thursday amongst others. I can give you some names of people on G+ who post VERY nice images from there. Thank you all Gentlemen

After a long hiatus, a new "AV" of mine was loaded yesterday on Beechbrook entitled "African Birds". The quotes around AV are meant to indicate that it is not a polished AV. It is a quick and dirty one that I prepared yesterday as a friend wanted to have a look at some of my bird shots from Africa. As it is not a show that I intend to present widely (likely the one showing) I went with the images as cropped for compositional purposes, rather than for AV. That means they are various sizes and the transitions are not optimal. Also one or two pictures would normally have not made it into a serious AV as their quality is lacking. Have a look if you would like to. Any and all comments, keeping in mind my comments above, are always welcome. Thanks Jim Robertson

Davegee: I think you posted and then deleted after you saw that what Lin suggested worked. Thanks for looking in and helping
-
Thanks Ken, Still have a copy of it ! Yes I do have more birds some of which is what the quick and dirty show is about

Thanks Lin That worked. ( Shows how rusty I am )

To make a long story short, after not having done an AV for well over 18 months, I need to do a quick and dirty one. But I am having an issue with comments. I am using ver 6.0. I know I am way out of date (but at least I didn't go back to 4.8) :) I am using the file name as the comment on each slide – I have that working well, but there are three slides I don’t want any comment to appear on. When I click on Customize this slide, I don’t seem to have an option to not show the comment. I rarely used comments in the past, but I thought there was a way to not show comments on particular images. Did I miss something obvious in my rustiness, do I have to upgrade to a new version, or am I dreaming……?? Thanks Jim Robertson

Thanks Bill

Thanks Mick I guess I agree with you re the script being too much like captions. I usually try to get away from that and let the images speak for themselves, but I agree I failed this time. I suspect that was partially due to so much work being on on the 11 shows, that one gets sloppy at times. (That'll be my story and I'll stick to it  ) I appreciate the feedback Jim

Thx Ken Had forgotten that I left manual control on for that one.

Thanks Maureen Despite the rain, you went further a field than we did, but maybe we went slower as the weather was so nice for us. I find it very interesting how I can go with a group to one spot, we all take pictures and then when we look at them as a group, we sometimes wonder if we were at the same place.

Bill Hines just kindly put up my Estonia AV. This is one of the 10 AVs that followed from the Baltic Introduction presentation that Beechbrook commenced hosting several weeks ago. If the subject sounds familiar, Maureen Platt uploaded an excellent AV on Tallinn several months ago. (And is still on Beechbrook for you to enjoy) Comments on my show are always welcome. Preferably constructive ones :)

gotcha !!! As I say I am kind of slow this morning
-
Dave: Thanks for the comments and sorry "she" is only available to me on a private contract :) Guess my brain is not working well this morning as I am not sure I "get" your second comment.
-
Thanks Moturn. I tend not to over-process my images as a rule, especially for a travelogue AV. The "rules" of composition are in my mind when and if I crop, but I don't always fllow them if there are elements in the picture that I want to retain. Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks Lennart I did try to contact you, but the e-mails were returned. I wasn't smart enough to try contacting you through PTE.

Hi Al Glad you enjoyed it. Did Liz have anything about how we treated her homeland ?

Thanks Ken You have a great memory

Hi Mickp My wife did the voice overs for the AVs. I have been putting images up on www.fototime.com for a few years (mainly family ones, some for a nature area nearby and some related to a photoclub I belong too, but am now putting more up travel related shots with greater descriptions. The other route I am using is Google Plus. I have posted some travel pictures, some misc bird images as well as doing a daily bird posting. In G+, I have 4000 people following me (where they all came from I don't know !!). Usually 150-300 people will look at the image full screen, but one I posted the other day has had 14,800 open it fully !! (I am having problem believing that number...) People also give pictures a "+1" (equivalent to FACEBOOK's "LIKE") and provide comments.

Rick: Thanks for taking the time to watch the AV and providing comments
