  1. Pete: I agree with Stu. I have used the new feature in 4.20 and it works like a charm
  2. Jan: Funny you should ask that, I was talking to someone about that the other day. I am not sure that PTE has a colour corrector (I know that is not the right term...) My images are all sRGB as I do not print them. But the reality I suspect is, how many people who will see your show, have their monitors calibrated ? So while we can use the "correct" profile on our images, few if any will see them the way we intended anyway.
  3. Roger: The OBJECT editor as Al says is very useful for the type of process you want. However it is not automatic. If you grouped your images in some fashion, you could put links to each grouping, but it would be a lot of work to link to each image. I understand what you are asking for. I am not sure what the "demand" for such a feature would be, or where it would fit in the priorities list. The demand might be evidenced by the response you get on the forum
  4. All my shows to date have used background sound files. For various reasons I am trying it slightly differently on a new show. This time I am putting the narration on the sound file line under the slide list. At this point I have a silent sound file for the background so I can initially synch the show with having sorted out the music yet. (Further synching will of course be done when music is added) Unless I am doing something wrong, when viewing the draft show via the TIMELINE, I am not hearing the narration. But if I use the "full" PREVIEW mode, then I do hear the narration. If I have not missed a hidden "switch" is this something that could be put on the list of possible changes Igor ? It will be easier than going back to my regular method of mixing the narration and the music in the background. (Of course if we had the sound editor within PTE we would be all set - I suspect that might raise the cost somewhat - Adobe Première has it, that software is only $1000 )
  5. Thanks Merlin, Ken and Oleg. I was also looking for specs for a lap top too, but I just looked closely at my posting and spotted that I had a sunglasses face icon in lieu of my "b". It seems if you type "" you get the icon not the letter "B"..... After several attempts to fix it, I succeeded so the desire for lap top specs stands out more now Any thoughts ?
  6. This has been around for a long time and discussed a couple of times in the past on the forum. It is not so much a bug as a different approach Igor is taking on that item. As Leif says: use SAVE AS and CREATE AS and you should have no problem
  7. Assuming I won the lottery etc, what would people recommend for specs if I were to go buy: 1) Desktop - to be used for sound editing (Audacity), PhotoShop, PTE design 2) Laptop - PTE presentation (plus per above when away from home base) Specs such as: - Chipset - RAM - sound card - video card - etc Thanks
  8. Ray: I am not into DVD so I can't help. But FYI there is another forum where the "DVD'ers" "hang-out", you could try posting there as well. You will find it here: here
  9. Oleg, Carol and Natasha: Thank you for your comments !! The cheque ($$$) is in the mail I can thank Carol for inspiring me with the frames and Oleg for my "daring" to show more than one image on a screen. This is the first show in which I did not use my own images. The "Family Memories" show is the first follow up to my recently completed Family Tree AV show that I put together in PTE with 106 interlinked shows (using OBJECTS). I did not want to scare Bill and try to load the 211mb show to Beechbrook - if he thinks he bandwidth problems now.... Natsha - Thanks for suggesting that I should be a journalist. But I don't have time, I am too busy trying to learn from your Dad's (and Mum's) great work.
  10. Welcome dpd ! Just to add to Oleg and Alrobin's suggestions, Al's darktable works great. I have sometimes used Thumbplus, I move the images into a gallery, sort them and do a batch re-number within the gallery.
  11. Did Alrobin's suggestion not work ? (see the other post you did here
  12. Hi Blastoff: I have not had thay problem, but from time to time PTE will stop displaying the images as you scroll down the files. This was discussed several weeks ago. The solution to that, and maybe your problem, is to close PTE and open it again. The odd time, I re-boot the computer. If we could nail down when this happens regularly, we would let Igor know and he would fix it.
  13. Hi Bruman Have you tried it the way that Alrobin suggested ? Another way is add (in sound editing software) the .wav file to the end of the MP3 file that you have playing as the background and synch the picture of the camera to come up when the clicking sound starts. But I sense you have a problem with that. That is why Alrobin's way is likely best for you
  14. Answer to this much-asked question is: No Sorry
  15. For help on using the TIMELINE you might want to download Alrobin's PTE Tutorial 101. It is on page 3 of Beechbrook. here I am not sure what you want in terms of the .wav file. Are there to be no images on the screen, but you want the music to play ? Why a .wav file and not a MP3 ? I am not sure if you could play it using the "Run Action after last slide" on ADVANCED tab of Project Options, try it but I doubt it. Or you could merge the .wav file into the music for the show and have a black image on the screen after the last normal image. The other route is to add the .wav file under "Customize slide>MUSIC", that will cut the background music, but you still need time on the timeline to keep the show (ie the .wav file) going. I am sure others will have more thoughts
  16. Joy: It is not possible within PTE, but if you do a search for "flash" using the search engine at the bottom right, you find references to using Flash to achieve what I think you want
  17. Peggy: Welcome to PTE. Your issue has come up before and has several possible causes. If you are running the show from a CD, the communication between the CD and the CPU might not be fast enough. (I suspect you are running it from the C drive so this is likely not the issue.) It could be your image sizes are taking up too many CPU resources. Images should be maximum 200kb plus or minus. As a general rule use 800x600 if fading faster than 2 seconds, or 1024x764 if fading slower. Use quality 5 jpgs. It could be some transitions are too close to each other. The CPU needs a little space to breath between image transitions. I try to use half a second if I am squeezing images together, but I can sometimes get away with even less time. Hope that helps. Others will come along with further suggestions
  18. DJ Welcome to PTE !! You will also get lots of help at the main PTE forum here This forum tends to deal with presentation on the Beechbrook site (which temporarily is down )
  19. Bill: Thanks for your e-mail note to let us know what is going on. As per my posting on the main PTE forum, bandwidth issues aside, as we have said in the past, you should not hesitate to charge a fixed fee for posting shows on your site. There is no way you should be out of pocket for providing this great service for us all. Hopefully for your sake (and ours too ) you will resolve this soon.
  20. As many likely already now, through a note from Bill, Beechbrook is temporairly off the air (see also posting in Presentations forum here ) Bill is hoping it is temporary and will be back up once he resolves bandwidth issues with his server owner. We have talked before about how Bill runs this site at his own personal expense. I hope the memebers who post their shows with Bill have been contributing towards the costs, and if this "hic cup" means that Bill will have to start to charge a fixed fee for posting then I am 100% behind that fee.
  21. Michael: Welcome to the PTE forum !! Rooskidiver, another member of the forum, showed me how to add frames to my images, using PhotoShop. They are too lengthy to describe here and contain sample images, but send me an e-mail and I will send you the "recipe".
  22. Igor: Happy New Year to you and your great team !!! As Al said, take a break every once and while--we need to catch our breath with all your improvments !!
  23. Ron: Using the OBJECT EDITOR in the way you have is a great way to run shows. I have used it frequently, sometimes using small images from the shows as button/icons. We use it all the time when showing AV shows at our Camera Club. It is a great tool when providing several shows on a CD to friends/customers etc, use the autostart files which bring up the "launch page" for as many shows as want. If you are not using synched shows, you can do the same thing on any page within a show. I just did that with a complex show that is run manually, but has some 200 OBJECT Editors on over 100 pages. The links are to 106 AV shows, many of which are synched shows on their own. As you know we can now launch an application at the end of a synched show, so you can place a page such as yours at the end of a synched show if you need/want to. And best of all Igor is hoping to have OBJECTS soon that will stay in position regardless of screen resolution.
  24. Sealion2 Best example of what you are looking for is "Olga Boritsch, photographer" on the Beechbrook site, page four. Click here
  25. Fred: Sorry to hear you are suffering !!! Hey everyone !! Over 700 views, but only 49 posts ?? Let's get some more people "reporting in"
