Firstly let me apologise for being such an idiot but I suffer from a DVD phobia! Every time the mere thought of burning a DVD comes to mind I come out in a cold sweat! I'm sure I have been down this road before but it doesn't get any more attractive. PGA, Thanks, I have just checked and my PO settings are identical to yours so the problem can't be there. As I said in my original post I have been able to burn a short test sequence successfully. It is just this particular sequence that is giving me problems. Dave, I'm not sure that I know what an MPEG2 file is as there is no mention of it within the Video Builder menus as far as I can see. Is it the AVI video file option? I have created one of them and the audio plays in the PC Windows Media Player. I am assuming that MPEG4 is the same thing as MP4. If so then I have made one of them and it too plays in WMP. I have as I said above also successfully made Exe's for PC and MAC with no audio issues. I have not burned either the AVI or the MP4 to a DVD yet to test them on my TV DVD player. I presume I will have to get hold of some other software other than WnSofts Video Builder to do that? I should say that despite my hate/hate relationship with DVD production I have got Video Builder to work successfully on many occasions in the past. I can confirm that my TV DVD sound is working. Finally please explain (briefly!!) what an ISO file is. I'm going to have a soothing drink (not telling what exactly) and off to bed with the hope that all will be well in the morning. Good night all and thanks for your support. John

Hi, I am having problems with Video Builder in creating a “DVDVideo Disc – for players connected to a television”. I am using 7.5. I can create an Exe file for PC and forMac and both play perfectly. The problem I am getting is that theaudio is not being played back from the DVD version. My sequence isabout 16 minutes long and I have burned about four DVD's trying toget it to work so I made a short 30 second sequence, burned it inexactly the same way and that works perfectly. In both occasions I amusing mp3 audio files and in the test version one of the files from the mainsequence. Any ideas? John

Hi, I guess Igor has a job for life even if he only provides a fraction of the ideas posted here .............. and yes I like this one too! John

Eric, I have just managed to capture a test clip using QuickTime, which is built into MountainLion. This looks like it will serve my purpose. I would have used this animated fly through in the past but wasn't aware of the fact that it existed, perhaps it is a new feature of Google Maps. Thanks for your interest. Regards John
-
Hi Eric, Thanks for your reply. Perhaps I have not made myself clear. It is the animated fly through that I wish to capture. John

Hi, I have just discovered that Google MapsDirections service offers an animated 3D drive through facility. Can anybody suggest a method ofcapturing this for potential use in a PTE sequence. I use a MAC so that would be myfavoured OS. I have Parallels so have access to Windows for preparingmy PTE sequences. Being a mean Scot I would prefer a free product. Any suggestions would be appreciated. John

Steven, Do you mean in Slide View being able to click and drag over slides to select a group? I am able to use that facility as before. Are you sure you are not trying to do this in the new Timeline View which also shows the slides and could be causing the confusion? John
-
Hi, A technique I use is a bit of both and in whatever order takes my fancy or think appropriate at the time. If I start with a vertical pan I fade it out to about 40% at the end of the pan and then fade in the superimposed full vertical image with a delicate border. Horses for courses as they say. NO HARD RULES. John

Yes, I think that this would be a worth while option provided we were able to go back to or in some way identify slides that should NOT be resized (zoom). For this very reason I tend to work with full sized images when creating my shows and only resize once I have decided on which images I am going to use. I could be selecting from 100 images and only using 30 or 40 so it makes sense not to resize until I have decided which to use and indeed whether I wish to crop. John

Igor, As requested by you in the 7.5 part of the forum I reiterate below my suggestion. Do you plan, at a later version, to have a unique Mac icon automatically produced to eliminate the confusion that at present exists? Regards John
-
Peter, Thanks for getting back to me I will raise it as a possible issue on the 7.5 forum for Igor to have a look at. John
-
Hi Peter, Thanks for getting back to me. I have tried again, still without success. What I am getting from v7.5 when creating a MAC show using my newly created Apple/PTE logo is not what I have allocated but something quite different. However, when allocating that same icon and creating a PC show I get that icon appearing as I would expect. I have attached the two results. Don't spend too much time on this it is not that important. I'm just curious as to what is going on. Regards John PS It worked ok for me in v7.0 when I tried it yesterday.

Hi Peter, I have managed to make an icon. Perhaps when you get a moment you can confirm that the function is not yet active in 7.5. I got it to work in 7.0. Regards John
-
Sure Ken, You're also missing the point. Why would it not be possible for PTE to generate a slightly different icon at source? All in the interest of user friendliness, and acknowledging a growing market sector. I suspect that now that Parallels and others are becoming so well integrated the need for WnSoft to invest large sums into developing a MAC version are waning. Let's end it here. Best regards, John
-
Thank you Peter, Yet again you educate me. I will have a go later. I think you understand that this is just a workaround or enhancement for something I believe would better tackled at source. There is at least one of our contributors (I wont name him) who regularly very kindly posts both a PC and MAC version of most of his contributions. As both have the same icon it can become confusing to poor souls like me when returning to a downloaded sequence unless it has been filed properly by me in the first place. John

Eric, Have a look at the financial pages and compare where Microsoft and Apple stand today and even a year ago. I'm quite sure Igor is no ostrich! John
-
Eric, You are correct, perhaps I should and likely will once I find out how. You miss my point though. Why should I have to? i have posted this idea as a proposed improvement. Much better that it be done within the system than ask people to find out how to do what would be much better done professionally. Regards John
-
Hi, Perhaps this should be posted in the MAC area but it concerns both OS's. As a MAC user I am finding the integration through Parallels (there are other brands!) so successful sometimes I am not certain which side of the house I am in and on occasions I find that I have a PTE icon on my desktop or in my downloads and have no graphical way of identifying whether it will open on the MAC or the PC. Would it be possible to have a different icon for each? Perhaps MAC on the MAC version and leave the PC icon as it is. John

Hi, In my early days with PTE I was reluctant to use DVD as I had been led to believe the quality was so poor. My impression is that the technology must have improved dramatically as I am quite satisfied with the results I am getting so would be disappointed to see the facility disappear before a satisfactory alternative was as well established as the DVD. More recently I have used the DVD facility for giving shows to friends who could not or would probably never bother to watch them on a PC or Mac but would do so on a TV. I suppose we shouldn't complain about progress otherwise we would still be concerning ourselves with such issues as low performing graphic cards. It is an illustration of the concern that WnSoft has for its customers that we are being asked for an opinion. Regards John

Hi, Would it be possible to enable navigation to an external editor FROM O&A Object List as we can from Slide List. I for one would find this a great help. Regards John
-
Hi Dave, Your'e quite right, it is working. I don't know what I did or more likely didn't do the other day when I tried it but it is working just as I guess it should be. I am assuming that once this system option is selected it stays active till removed. Cheers John
-
Hi, At this point in time it would appear that the facility has not been activated (Beta 10), as though, the option to select is present it does not function. Certainly not as far as I can see. Great to see that it is on the cards though. John

Hi, Unless you are very well organised with your preparation for building sequences it can become troublesome when creating a Back Up to Zip folder. I refer to duplicate file names. I'm afraid that I am often guilty of this as I get ideas and head off in different directions pulling in images and objects from all over the place. My basic filing of original files is good (I use Aperture) but when I pull copies into my working folder structure (which eventually gets deleted) things can get out of hand. My way of working is that when researching an idea I copy images that I think I may need into this area (it is also structured with folders) so I have virtually every likely area covered. I then perform any Photoshop work from there. At various stages mainly towards the end of the project I consolidate by creating a B/U to ZIP. Occasionally I find that I have a file with the same name in two separate locations. PTE tells me that and that is a great help and totally necessary. However it does NOT tell me in which slides these objects are. When I am working on a sequence with in excess of 100 slides many with multiple objects it becomes difficult to locate the offending files to rename them. Would it be possible for PTE to also list this information, after all it clearly has the data. I know that many years ago somebody produced a program that could provide this data plus much more but for me that was OTT and an additional process. Cheers John

Hi, Once again I'm impressed, both by Igor and by the fact that there are people out there like yourself on top of the game ! Thanks John PS I'll need to post another request that has been aggravating me in much the same way as this once did!
-
Hi, I don't know how others use this facility but I use it fairly frequently and find that if I don't remember to activate it as I add objects I can get into all sorts of trouble when later selecting an object in the image frame rather than the list. For me it would be great if this could be selected by de-fault. What do others think? John
