Thank you Igor. I didn't appreciate that it would be so different from a Mac, now I know! I'm sure you are well aware that many people are using iPads and indeed phones to process their images. I find I certainly am using my phone with Lightroom quite frequently. I am sure that, were it possible to use my iPad for PTE, I would do so. Regards and well done with the MAC version. John

Hi Igor, I have not been active on the Forum for some time so apologies if this has been discussed. Now that a Mac version is available are there any plans to extend this to iPad? John
-
Hi. It is a little bit more complex than has been suggested, particularly the road map scenario where there are twists and turns to contend with. There used to be videos available (very likely by Lin Evans) that would be worth looking for. Have a look on the Help pages. Good luck. John

Nice oner Barry! I'll give that a go next time. John

Thank you Igor. I regularly share work with friends and a couple are eagerly waiting for the Mac version of PTE and not have to use their laptop PC’s for PTE production. Regards John

The use of “save to zip” enables individuals working on PC’s to collaborate over the production of PTE shows. With the introduction of the MAC version of PTE will it be possible for there to be any degree of collaboration between the two platforms at the post production level? John

Properties/Borders--allow absolute values

Hi I totally agree with this. I’m sure I have raised this in the past but it didn’t get much support at the time. I hope you have more success than I have had! John -
Hi Dave, I never cease to be surprised as to how big an idiot I am. Thank you. John

Hi Dave, Hopefully the attachment will illustrate more clearly what I am after. Firstly, the fact that each button is named Button 1 in my illustration is because I simply copied and pasted. Had I entered each button individually they would have been numbered sequentially (1,2,3,4 etc). What would be better in my view is if I were able to manually title each button with a description such as, in this case, 'Pentland'. What would be even better would be if PTE would automatically label it from the text typed on it. However, back to the point, I was under the impression that at some point in the past I was able to manually change the wording to the likes of 'Pentland' rather than simply Button XX. I hope that more clearly explains what I am after. Is it possible? Cheers John

Jill, Thanks for that. Regards John

Hi, Is it possible to give buttons unique names where they appear in the box below Properties/Animation in Objects & Animation? Clearly I am aware that you can name the actual button as it appears on the slide but if you are working with several buttons hidden below other objects (Opacity 0) then the listing of Button 1,2,3,4....etc isn't very helpful. I thought we could do this way back in the dim and distant past but I can't find how to do it now. Thanks in anticipation, John

Thanks Jill I will try this later today. Yes I know I shouldn’t use Escape but when in panic mode......! Cheers john

Hi Jill, I notice that when the MP4 ends even though the menu comes up the VLC box also comes up. Looks like I've not correctly selected all the options in the Preferences. I'll have another look. John

Hi Jill, Thanks for this. I think I'm almost there thanks to your suggestion to use VLC. Three minor things that I can live with unless there is a way to avoid them. One, when I click on the Menu button a small VLC box flashes onto the screen for a fraction of a second and then the MP4 opens full screen as you described. Great! But can I avoid this flash in any way? Two, the file name is displayed at the bottom of the screen for a couple of seconds. Can this be prevented. Three, and I should not get into this situation, if I select the button containing the VLC Player by mistake and press Escape a minimised VLC Player appears and I have to cancel it with the mouse. The same circumstance with an exe file and you are brought back to the menu. As I say I shouldn't be in that position. But then nobody is perfect and possibly the same applies to software! As I say I can live with these minor issues. However, if you don't ask the question you don't necessarily get the answer! Regards John

Lin, I have discovered how I wasn't seeing the MP4 file from within PTE. At the bottom of the "Open" Menu box, next to the File Name entry box there is a further drop down box offering "Applications" or "All Files". So that is sorted, however what happens isn't very slick as it opens up a player with all the mouse actions that requires. Not as smooth as opening a PTE sequence. I think I will explore the route of embedding the MP4 into a PTE sequence. Thanks again for your direction. Kind regards John

Hi Lin, Nice to hear from you. I don't know about that. However after posting I thought I would make a one slide show as an envelop, if that makes sense, with the MP4 embedded onto the slide. That works so would be a work around if needs be. Come to think about it that sounds like my system is finding a player. I'll have another go now. Cheers John

Hi Folks, I am building a menu in PTE 9 something I have done a number of times in the past. On this occasion one of the four shows has been converted to MP4. I wasn't aware that this would be a problem, being under the impression I had used MP4 in the past. However PTE is not finding any MP4 whatsoever. Should this be the case? Am I missing something? I am using "Run Application or Open File" from the drop down as a couple of the PTE shows were made on older versions of PTE and "Run Slideshow With Return" won't work. Advice please. I can't believe that this should be the case given that so many people are burning PTE shows to MP4 nowadays!!!! Cheers John

Hi I am considering purchasing a new PC laptop and looking for advise on technical specification. I have quite a high end desktop on which I do all my image processing (LR and PS) plus AV building with PTE. I want the laptop primarily for running completed AV’s through a projector I would, on occasion, like to use it for PS and PTE demonstrations to Camera club members. I think a 14” screen will be ample as there is a 24” monitor available at the club which could be used for demonstrations. I would appreciate general advice on Processor and graphics. What are the views on separate or integrated graphics nowadays? I guess RAM isn’t a big cost issue nowadays I believe presumably the more the better. 8GB rather than 4GB? I suppose SSD is best, though given my proposed use, I won’t need any more than 250GB ? I’m trying to keep the cost down given the fact that it will not be used excessively. I have seen a number of machines in the region of £500. I need to consider USB and other connectivity. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks John

I thought that one stage in the past we did have the facility where the contents of a text object was used automatically as a name in O&A. ???

Thank you Barry i will look into this later. I am strugelling with moving my data from my broken eight year old MAC to a new PC. I will be away from home next week so I’m not likely to get back to this till after that. I will respond ASAP.. john

Hi Barry, Thank you for your reply and sorry for not responding before now. I had forgotten about MedieFire though I used to use it some years ago. I watched your video yesterday but from what I can see it wouldn’t do the job I have in mind though I have yet to get on to their site. What I want to do is back up my entire external backup hard drive to a remote location. Belt and braces! On searching the internet there appear to be many companies offering that service. I had been hoping that some of the forum members would have had recommendations. I have often seen reference to DropBox so possibly MediaFire is an option. Thanks, I’ll keep you posted. John

Hi, Does anybody have any recommendations or experience of remote back up services suitable for people like this community within the UK or Europe? I would be pleased to hear from anybody on this subject. On searching the internet none of the names that come up mean anything to me and some of the claims appear to get conflicting reviews. Dropbox is the only one I know of but they don't get included in the comparisons that I have seen. Thanks John

Hi, I am looking at a Dell offer at the moment which I assume should do the job for PTE, PSCC and LRCC. The GPU is of higher spec. I think than that mentioned by Igor but they (Dell) say there would be little difference in cost to replace it with the 1060. For me I think the 4TB HDD is perhaps a bit OTT but who knows. 1 8th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700 6-Core Processor (12M Cache, up to 4.6 GHz) 1 16GB Dual Channel DDR4 at 2666MHz (2X8GB) 1 256GB M.2 PCIe x4 SSD + 4TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive 1 NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 1070 with 8GB GDDR5 Graphics Memory Any comments? Regards John

Thanks Dave, I thought as much but had to be sure. John
