  1. You might have changed something in your setup? PNG files open in my editor with Ctrl + W and by right clicking and selecting EDIT. VIEW> Advanced Options> Set Graphical Editor. DG
  2. Lin, I don't want to bring up the subject of intuitiveness again (that's Peter's territory) but here goes: How would a beginner like myself know that the Animation Tab was useful when using (animated) GIF files? Like some others, I have absolutely no interest in animated GIFs so I would experiment with still images and get nowhere. If the answer in Post 4 was given in Post 2 then there would (possibly) be a greater understanding between all. DG
  3. So speaketh the Font of all knowledge. It's nice here today - we are not used to these scorching temperatures (14.5 not Fahrenheit - the other one). DG
  4. Hi Phil, Nice to see you out and about again. It must be wonderful living in your world. I can't seem to find the key strokes for the webdingythingy in the example below - any ideas? Phils Arrow.zip
  5. Igor would, I think, like to hear some views on this before proceeding. He was able to supply "Stroking" within PixBuilder for me. DG
  6. At Igor's suggestion: How do you percieve the way that the BORDERS command in "Adjust Image and Border" should work? I have always thought that it should operate in the same way as Photoshop etc in that a fixed width border should be created on top of the image and not alter the original image in any way (other than to hide a few pixels at the edges). The way it works in PTE is that it creates the border at the desired pixel width outside of the image and then fits the image and its border to the height of the project. The original image is, effectively, scaled or interpolated downwards. The effect of this is that it changes the Aspect Ratio of the composite (image + border) producing background-coloured lines at left and right. The present system is acceptable for images which do not fill the (project) screen but for full screen (project-sized) images is un-useable. DG
  7. Create the arrow or any other object on a blank layer in Photoshop (or ELEMENTS 10) and use "Save for the Web" to create a PNG file which you can then use in your PTE project. DG
  8. P.S. Can someone explain to me how CANVAS SIZE and ANIMATION (in the ADJUST IMAGE AND BORDER utility) are used. .............and have you tried them? DG
  9. Peter, I gave up on the BORDER utility a long time ago - it is something that Igor could re-design at some stage. What it does is put a border around the image (fixed pixel size) and then fits the whole thing (image and border) inside the frame (interpolating the original image downwards). Example: 1280x720 becomes 1380x820 with an added 100 pixel border. Do the math - the AR changes - 1380/820 does not equal 1280/720. An exception to this is a SQUARE image when the AR is maintained. I have been using PNG files for this purpose for a long time. DG
  10. Another possibility: Use WORD and save as PDF which you can import into Photoshop and save as JPEG or PNG. DG
  11. It might be easier to use Photoshop and save as PNG to use in PTE? DG
  12. Roger, Would it be fair to say that the Lightbox has never been away? It is the icon that went walkabout. DG
  13. Ann, Have you considered the possibility of a compatibility issue between your new burner and your "old" DVD player? Also the quality of the DVDs you are using together with the above might be an issue. Just because a certain brand has always worked before doesn't mean............ I would have thought that a codec problem would result in a complete failure to play and not in the "stopping half way through" issue? Like you I have always used third party burning software to burn DVDs from PTE shows. Up to now ROXIO has served me well. Having migrated to a new W7 PC I found that the supplied free version of Power To Go did the job very well. My method: Let PTE make the ISO file. I have always thought that having successfully done this any further problems would be attributable to outside influences and not to PTE. Someone is bound to jump in quickly if my assumption is wrong! I have always used completely default settings in PTE and never worried about codecs etc. Just double clicking on the ISO has always brought up the correct module of the burning software which I had installed and now uses Power to Go in the same way as it used Roxio in the past. There are softwares available which will play ISO files on the computer if you want to be absolutely sure that you have no issues with PTE. For my own use I produce MPEG4 files to play via USB on my TV but there are always occasions when you want to give DVDs to others. I had to do this recently and the above method worked fine using Sony DVDs on a Sony DVD Player. DG
  14. Put a TEMPLATE of the first few slides up so that someone can analyse it? DG
  15. Can you open the mp3 in Audacity or similar and save as a different name and then try that? add to a new project with no slides. Is it a downloaded mp3? I think that "personal playlist" refers to the music. could be wrong! DG
  16. ......or use the YouTube Downloader? DG
  17. It is possible that Igor has listened to a previous, similar request. DG
  18. Snapcam, You must have some sort of persecution complex? Nothing that I said here was directed in any way, shape or form at you!!!!!! Just because my post followed yours it was not necesarily in answer to yours. Please read again and if you are still of the opinion that I was getting at you (when in fact I was supporting both yourself and Maureen) then I will delete all of my posts in this thread. I might do it anyway. Best wishes, DG
  19. I suppose my point is that since this forum doesn't differentiate between "Slideshows with music" and "AV" then all this prattling on about whether a particular presentation is one or the other is totally irrelevant? If the people to whom it matters so much were to really care then I think that they should petition for a seperate "AV" section, but that would be a little "elitist" don't you think? I just enjoy them and it matters not if they have narration or not. Slideshows vs Documentaries. IMHO and all that - other opinions are available. DG
  20. .....and isn't this section of the forum headed "Slideshows" and not "AV"? DG
  21. Ken, Not an illusion - that's what I intended - look at this one. SPRING.zip Re Higgs Boson - that looks too much like SNOW - that's Lin's territory. DG
  22. I played with this for a while - it might give someone ideas. Out of Control.zip DG
  23. Does the RPS disqualify a "Slideshow with Music" from its AV Competitions because there is no narrative? DG
  24. Anthony, Does yours look anything like this? DG
  25. Have you raised a support ticket? here: http://www.wnsoft.com/support/ DG
