  1. Anthony, I can create my own EXE's with V7.0.2 with no problems - it's only other peoples in (apparently) earlier versions that are giving me problems. Igor's away for a few days - we'll need to get on his case when he gets back. I tried reopting to AVG last time unsuccessfully. DG

  3. It's AVG! But it is selective on my laptop - it seems not to worry about my own newly created shows in V7.0.2. It also accepts other peoples V7.0.2 shows (downloaded one today). That's why I asked which version. DG
  4. Could you please tell us which version was used to complete the EXE? I got an AVG virus alert on this one and I'm not getting it on my own shows or certain others downloaded recently (today). DG
  5. I would make a copy show, "Save AS" different name and strip out the music completely. Add a different piece of music - no need to be too precise - try the EXE and see if it works. If it does then you can start putting your original music back in one at a time. Make an EXE at each stage and try to find out which track is causing the problem. If you fail on the first track try altering the order. Alternatively make a TEMPLATE and upload it somewhere that one of us could download from and try it for you? DG
  6. I took 32 Gb of cards away for two weeks hols. (8x4Gb) Two Batteries - Charge both overnight in Hotel. D700 RAW = 25Mb DG
  7. ACR in CS3 will not support your D5100. You can use NX2 to "Open With" CS3 as a 16 Bit TIFF File. Do all of the RAW stuff in NX2 and send the 16 Bit TIFF to CS3. As I indicated previously, unless you need to do some PP in Layers, NX2 will do everything you require. DG
  8. If just one person shows the way others will follow - we have seen examples of this in the past. You were a leader in the early nineties? I am struggling to see how you would ever see the kind of high quality show that I envisage either here or on Beechbrook. Take a look at the file size of a couple of minutes of 1920x1080 HD Video clips and then imagine downloading that from Beechbrook? Maybe someone here can tell us precisely what file size to expect from a H.264 MP4 straight out of camera. Internet posts lead us to believe that something of the order of 1Gb per 10 minutes is realistic. However that is SOC - Igor's converter would bring that down. There is also evidence which suggests that our systems are not yet up to showing such shows reliably and without artifacts. (That's why my new computer is coming with a 3Gb Graphics card). But the example I quoted did not need to be converted and therefore was at the highest quality and that's the sort of example that will encourage others - not a clip of 800x600 video blown up to fill the HD frame to keep the file size down. DG
  9. bb my comments were not directed at you. far from it. but i think that all should realise that just because we have not seen something does not mean that it does not exist. there are people out there doing wonderful things with the technology but because they do not post their work and have no interest in av or camera clubs it goes unseen by those who think that they might be leaders in the field. i merely pointed toward one example that i thought was inspirational. his inclusion of video amongst his still shots had relevance and told a part of the story far better than stills alone could do. as you would expect from him the quality of the video matched the quality of the stills. so based on just one example i am prepared to say that there is a place for video in av. but unless and until there is relevbance and quality in the work forget it. do not do it because it is fashionable or because everyone else is or because you want to be one of the first. the last thing i want to see in this forum is that things should degenerate to a personal level. dg
  10. Peter and I are doing some tests as we speak. I think that the SMALL differences between the two (EXE is best) are overridden by the convenience of the MPEG4 / USB route. You REALLY have to look for it. If you have USB on the TV you'll find it VERY MUCH easier! DG
  11. Do you want to mark this as SOLVED? DG
  12. Ken, The ISO trick is only for DVD Video - this is MPEG4 Video - different thing. DG
  13. Did you know that you can now make your FRAMES for your PTE shows (Black/White/Black/White/etc) as transparent PNG files in Igor's FREE PixbuilderStudio? Did you also know that Pixbuilder Studio will work from a Pen Drive (I didn't). DG
  14. The only Sony Media Centre Controls that appear to work with MP4 (other brands and models may differ) are: Fast Forward and Reverse Play Return to Slide One Stop Strangely, I can't find a Pause Control? DG
  15. Took me a while to write it. DG
  16. Andrew, See your PM. DG
  17. Ken, You're so right! DG
  18. I agree with both of you but in line with BB's comment I would encourage anyone, if they have the opportunity, to go to one of Andy Rouse's lectures to see how he has incorporated video into his presentations. He is a MAC user and his presentations are about his photography and not any attempt at Audio Visual as we know it, but if he could only be persuaded to jump ship and become a PC user with PTE - WOW!!! The other side of that coin is the continued reluctance of died-in-the-wool AV enthusiasts to accept anything new. What we are seeing is "bad" examples of what can be achieved, but when the Video clips are of the standard that Andy shows that's a whole different ball game. DG P.S. Perhaps Howard (Bagshaw) could be persuaded to give us his take on how his incorporation of video was recieved recently when he did a show in Cardiff? I wasn't there but I have heard reports.
  19. The trial is 60 days. DG
  20. I think that you'll find that what came in the box is VIEW NX2. I was refering to CAPTURE NX2 which, unfortunately is around £120 but worth twice as much. View NX2 is a very light version of CNX2 with organising capabilities but gives a flavour of what CNX2 does. It will read ALL of your camera settings and allow for retrospective changing of most of them. Other software only guesses the readings or makes versions of the settings eg. Picture Control. DG
  21. All that remains to do is to get NX2 so that you can take FULL advantage of all of the goodies that the D5100 has to offer. Well done, DG
  22. Thanks Peter, I knew that was the way you worked. DG
  23. brian, i really cannot relate to all that. i have been working with the exe file as my benchmark. i have been looking for a file which looks identical to the exe which can be played on my sony tv and be as near as possible to the benchmark. let me say straight away that the issues are definitely not colour issues. the differences i am seeing are mainly to do with gradation. a smooth gradation in the exe is stepped in the mp4. the optimum result is achieved with the high quality preset so hats off to igor for that. to anyone who wants to go down this route i would urge that the tv be set up with a neutral colour setting. by all means calibrate your monitor but i work on the basis of all elements looking the same - camera nx2 and sometimes photoshop. srgb in camera prophoto rgb insoftware and output in srgb. i do not print. after doing this since igor gave us the tools i think i am now happy with the result. i did a wedding recently and the customer certainly was happy. dg
  24. Ticked for MPEG4 - unticked for DVD. DG
