  1. For those to whom JPEG quality is an issue, some recent articles and trials suggest that Adobe's Level 7, when saving as a JPEG, is best avoided: http://www.dpreview.com/news/1108/11082915jpegupdate.asp http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/jpeg-quality#surprise Levels 0-6 and 8-12 are linear in quality/file size terms but level 7 is not always of better quality than level 6. The articles point out that the results only apply to LR and PS "Save As". "Save for the Web" does not, apparently, work the same way. DG
  2. Igor, My laptop refresh rate settings offers me either 59Hertz or 60Hertz. Can you comment on this? DG
  3. Jill, In the meantime you could create two versions of an image (normal and blurred) and blend the two using a mask. ........but you probably already knew that? DG
  4. the iso option will do what you require. dg
  5. Read carefully Xaver, the pictures don't tell the full story. Both methods work. DG
  6. In Objects and Animations you'll see the TEXT listed on the right hand side. Click on it and you'll see it's Keyframe on the timeline - a blue flag on the left hand side. Right click on this blue flag and select CLONE KEYFRAME. Move the new Keyframe to the right hand side and adjust its ZOOM value in the ANIMATION TAB (to ZERO). This process allows for any PZR adjustment on any object. DG
  7. John, Lin Evans has suggested a few times that it is possible to seperate the Video and Audio components of your Video Clips and insert the Audio seperately into the MUSIC section. You can then use the PTE Audio controls to adjust the volume. I suggest that you search Lin's comments and start from there? DG
  8. Steve, Although I rarely use this feature the difference between Beta 15 and Beta 16 seems to be that both IPTC and EXIF comments are now catered for seperately. Compare the two Betas/versions? DG
  9. Thanks Ken, It's great to see, once again, how some people's attitudes to (and knowledge of) the subject have changed in just a few years. DG
  10. Thanks Andre, I thought that it had been brought up before and surprisingly Peter was in favour then (). I still think it has some merit even if it is switchable. DG
  11. Aginum, I have checked my Beta 15 and it is ENABLED? Have you chosen your Graphical Editor in the VIEW menu? Right click on your image in the Image Panel and click on Edit File or key Ctrl+w. Works for me. Apologies - It works for JPEGs but not for MP3 files! DG
  12. Peter, Do you NEVER zoom in or out of images? Making a small allowance for this purpose has surely become the norm and within the tolerances of the "small allowance" there is room for aligning images more precisely? Just a thought. DG
  13. Congrats Igor! Beta 15 has some major improvements and a new and unexpected feature. It sounds as though you are almost finished with V7? DG
  14. Peter, I have done that when necessary, but I now find myself moving away from PS and relying almost entirely on NX2. I use PS for very little these days (my recent HAY show was 100% NX2). It occurred to me that being able to do it from within PTE would be advantageous to a lot of people out there and quite a time saver. Doing it in PS necessitates saving large PSD files and, although HD space is not a problem, they are cumbersome to work with. I guess that introducing the next image as an object to a slide and varying its opacity for precise positioning is a good workaround but not as easy as being able to do it during the transition phase. DG
  15. Igor bought a 1920x1080 a couple of years ago Joy. I am aware of your need to spend thriftily, but in terms of what is current technology and what is, effectively, old (dead) technology you could perhaps save a little longer for something which is not going to go out of date (spec wise) for a while yet. Some diehards are hanging on to their 1024x768 projectors but once you have seen the difference between them and 1920x1080 you don't turn back!! The other point worth making is that "secondhand" 1024x768 projectors of any make are more likely to give trouble and the bulbs, if required, are very expensive. It might be worth visiting a few clubs which have a variety of resolutions, makes and qualities of projectors and get some feedback from them? It would be great if Igor could also give us some feedback, a couple years after having bought his, on what he now thinks of the technology etc. The club that I belong to will never return to 1024x768 after making the change a couple of years ago. DG
  16. Please tell me if this has been raised before and I'll delete the thread? In the O&A window it would be great to be able to see the next image appearing during the "outgoing transition". It would make alignment of images for the "third image" effect so much easier. Anyone have any views? DG
  17. Does it happen with ALL video file types? Try a different file? The usual advice would probably be to uninstall Beta 14 and install anew? I've never seen the symptoms you describe. DG
  18. If you want to keep V7 b14 on your machine as BETA version as opposed to your main version, untick the box at the end of the installation which says something like "Associate PTE Files with this version". You will then need to open the software and open older files from there. Otherwise, as Peter said. DG
  19. If you use the default "Save" the converter is, apparently, designed to save in the optimum format for PTE i.e. MP4. If however, you want to "Save As" you need to add the ".mp4" to the file name when you save. I do not think that it is intended to convert all formats to all other formats. DG
  20. Welcome home - is there a sequence of your images to follow? DG
  21. Experiment with the built-in converter to produce a file (mp4) of lower quality? V7 Beta 14. DG
  22. Try using the built-in converter to produce a file (mp4) which PTE likes? DG
  23. It's certainly different! Normally the complaint is - "I haven't had a reply and I have a project to finish by yesterday". DG
  24. Apologies guys, I meant to get back to you on this but a holiday got in the way. The difference between the new and original versions is the in the newer version the Pentagons are solid faces wheras in the original they were just black holes looking through onto the black of the shadow. DG
  25. If there was ANY way it could be implemented, ownership of a PTE licence key should be MANDATORY in order to post here! DG
