Laszlo, I recently had problems at another website with Internet Explorer behaving in a similar manner. I had never upgraded from IE7 to IE8 (I normally use Firefox). Upgrading to IE8 solved my problem. DG

I've never seen that screen before? DG

Showing an exe file on a Wide Screen TV
davegee replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
Ron, I covered this subject over a year ago - I don't know if Ken could dig up the links. As Peter says to completely fill the screen use 1920x1080 images in a 1920x1080 show. There is one problem which you COULD POSSIBLY be encountering - if you are using the VGA input to the TV this can happen with SOME TVs (the width is restricted). For COMPLETE matching of laptop and TV you MUST use HDMI. If your laptop is 1920x1080 - great - you're in business. If it is LESS than 1920x1080 you won't be able to view on TV and monitor at the same time - only on TV. DG -
Defaults the wrong way round
davegee replied to Barry Beckham's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
Can I offer a different/better solution? I would prefer to see PTE allow users to set their own defaults. That way, those who want their images to "Fit To Slide" could have their prefered setup and those who want their images to come in at "Actual Pixels" could also have their prefered setup. Everyone's happy! DG -
Hi mary, I tried to do what you suggest and V6 operates the same (on my computer) as it always has. Only the newly created Template gets saved to the designated folder. DG

Peter, With respect, what is the point of making the images at the same resolution as the TV if his output is a DVD version? The software will reduce it to PAL dimensions anyway (768x432). Using the TV resolution would only apply if a laptop/PC were used and the connection between laptop and TV were HDMI/DVI. DG

blank slides at the begining and at the end of slide show
davegee replied to maryjane06's topic in General Discussion
Blank slide: Add an image to your slide list and go to Objects and Animation. Click on the image name in the Objects Pane on the right hand side and hit the delete button on keyboard. You are then left with a blank slide. Back in the slide list copy and paste your blank and drag it to the first slide position. DG -
Tom's JPEGs are a good illustration of what can happen. Photoshop's "Save For The Web" gives the same sort of result. However it must be added that viewing at 400% is not the "norm". I have always used 100% when looking for artifacts but I have to admit that artifacts which appear to have gone when viewing at 100% can still be seen if the view is increased to 400%. So where do you stop? Erring on the side of caution I don't go below quality 8 when doing a "Save As". DG

Here we go again - assuming that everyone knows what the H*** you are talking about. Could someone please explain starting with: A LABEL TRACK is................. DG

More details please about your Project Options / Screen settings? Aspect ratio of TV? LCD or CRT? DG

Peter, One way of getting around this (a method I use) is to put all images which are NOT main images into a Sub-Folder. DG

PLEASE, try an MP3? WAV files in PTE are OVERKILL! DG
-
Claudia, Just thinking out loud here: A normal WAV file would be 44.1KHz and 16 Bit. I'm not sure that PTE supports 32 Bit 48KHz WAV files - maybe it does? Why not do what everyone else does - convert to MP3? 256Kbps and 44.1KHz Stereo is ideal and possibly TOO high a quality depending on your audience. DG

Here's a short demo of a 3d Pyramid: http://www.mediafire.com/file/zy1duzzo1jy/Pyramid.zip It gets interesting when you try to open these things up to see what's inside. DG

Dave, What happens if the 3rd option show is saved from V6 and then opened again? DG

The startup screen in Dave's attachment looks like a V5 Start Up screen rather than a V6 screen? DG

Dave, When you look at the top left of the screen - which version of PTE is indicated? DG
-
If you save the same image in both RGB and sRGB and then view them in a fullscreen PTE show you'll get an idea of which works best. Use the left and right arrows to quickly changed from one to the other and look, particularly, at differences in blue skies between the RGB and sRGB versions. DG

Marconeros, Since no one else has asked - what's the resolution of your monitor and are you viewing full screen? DG

Thanks Tom. DG
