  1. Hi Barry, ...and welcome to the wonderful world of HD slide shows. Your show runs perfectly on my laptop's 1280x800 monitor. I took particular notice of the Koala after having read Peter's post and there was no detectble Moire on two seperate passes. I will edit this post to include results on my 1920x1200 monitor. It does, indeed, prove that today's systems are capable of running shows with images straight out of the camera. Laptop details: Intel Core Duo T8100 2.1Ghz 4Gb Memory nVidia 8400GT Vista DaveG Edited to add that on my desktop m/c with attached 1920x1200 monitor the result is exactly the same. There was no moire or jumping on the Koala and the appearance of the animal's fur should be proof enough to anyone of the value of using all of the resolution available from your DSLR wherever possible.
  2. HANG ON ERIC, Now I'm confused!! Your images are 4:3 and your laptop screen is 5:4 and yet you say that your show "fills the screen" and there is no "stretching blurring or pixleating"?? DaveG
  3. Anyone tried to alter their signature lately? I am getting a message saying: [#10211] You may only use up to lines of text in your signature. I am trying to put in just one line of text.
  4. Missing you already, Les.

  5. So that rules out the resolution theory but presumably, you are using Firefox on both? DaveG
  6. Lin, What screen res is the machine you are using for internet access? and does the wrapping work for you? DaveG
  7. Ken, On this laptop's 1280x800 screen "Fast Reply" is right below "Add Reply". Are all of these problems to do with screen res? DaveG
  8. Eric, On my 1280x800 laptop screen text wrapping works perfectly. I have just proved it here. (Firefox - latest version) - anyone NOT using Firefox? DaveG
  9. Hi Eric, "I've checked the tractor slide & there is a fine white line on the LH side. However is is not as pronounced as on your ss" This is probably an indication that your monitor is not showing you the full 1024x768. Are you running larger native resolution monitor at 1024x768? That could also be an issue for you. DaveG
  10. Hi Eric, Here's the slide with the white line on the LHS - it is possible that you can't see it because of your screen res. I have used the same slide to show you what the effect would be to us. DaveG
  11. Hi Eric, I just played the revised version and it's much better on both my 800 high monitor and especially my 1200 high monitor. Thanks for resolving the zoom issue - I think that you just about got away with the vertical pan. One slide of a tractor/lorry/bus had a white line down the LHS. Very colouful and a great record of what looked like a successful day. The whole thing seemed familiar, as though I had seen some of the shots before? One suggestion (purely because it will be seen on larger monitors than yours) - a thin white border would REALLY set it off. Thanks for sharing, DaveG
  12. It is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH preferable to see a 1024x768 show at actual pixels than upscaled. If ALL of your images are 1024x768 then, theoretically you should not be zooming into any of them. Hence the severe pixellation on the zoomed slide. DaveG
  13. Hi Eric, I looked at part of the show (on a 800 px high monitor) before seeing the last couple of posts and it was obvious that it was being upscaled if indeed you built it using 1024x768 images (I would not want to view on my 1200 high monitor). One of the early slides is showing signs of pixellation which could be the result of the upscaling (or possibly over-zooming AND upscaling). If you are going to create a version in true 1024x768 I'll wait to see the rest of it then. DaveG
  14. Eric, I'm about to download to take a look but first may I congratulate you on your sub-title giving the timing and resolution of the show? If only more people would do the same!! DaveG
  15. "Click the green button called "Click to Configure Post Options" under Options"...... which appears when you are in the ADD REPLY dialogue. DaveG
  16. Aaaah, At least someone has some sense there. (Just being facetious Eric). DaveG
  17. You won't be needing that NX2 anymore then? DaveG
  18. OK - I didn't scroll down - DOH!! DaveG
  19. Will there be links from the "home" page or is this the only way to access the new sub-forums? DaveG
  20. Thanks DOM, That is something that needs to be remembered. I will ask a local MAC guru to help with testing. DaveG
  21. Some people, myself included, are experiencing difficulty in getting a MAC version show to play on a MAC. Is the end result OS specific? Does the end user need a specific type of MAC, OS version etc to be able to play? DaveG
  22. I think that it might be a good time to excercise a little restraint here. It's getting out of hand and it is not doing PTE any good at all. Let's put the programme and its use to the forefront and cut the petty squabbling, eh? Let's all calm down. DaveG
  23. That's what I learned Ken! DaveG
  24. Friction? What friction? That's just Ron being his usual self! You are more likely to learn from your own "mistakes" than the mistakes of others - put it down to experience. Ken pointed out that you have, indeed, been around the forum for a few years wheras your membership status has you listed as a new member. That was my mistake - I have learned from it. Regarding the problem itself, I have recently been "cherry picking" images from various folders into a new folder for a new project. At first I was just dragging and dropping images from one folder to another (on the same drive). Before long I realised that I was creating a problem for myself because the images being dragged and dropped would no longer be in their original folders and therefore would produce the same problem that you encountered. My solution is that I have to COPY and PASTE instead of dragging and dropping. Previously I had been dragging and dropping files from TEMPLATES on a different drive and under these circumstances "dragging and dropping" and "copying and pasting" are the same thing. Lesson learned! DaveG
  25. Eric, I have been using Photomatix for a couple of years and it has never given me JPEG artifacts. Some of those skies look like they have been sharpened and saved at JPEG level 4-5 - they ain't muddy - they'se pixelated. The downward scroll is suitable for an audience who like to read backwards - I'm not into that. Anyway, if you're happy..... DaveG
