Hi Eric, Now that I have had a chance to view the 1024x768 version: Something that occured to me regarding the original was that the Title would possibly make much more sense if it was scrolling upwards. Secondly I have noticed that some of the clear blue patches in the skies are pixelated and show signs of being over-compressed. Otherwise, great images and stirring music. DaveG

Den, Did you mean that his show would have a 128 pixel border at the top, bottom and both sides? DaveG

Ron, The OP is a new member - he came here because he has a problem. It is possible that he has not been here long enough to know of the pitfalls of what he has done. Now that he has received an explanation he probably will never do it again. And we will not have to assist until the next new member falls into the same trap. Maybe you could design a PDF "Introductory Pack" which could be sent to all new members when they join advising them of this and other pitfalls? Seriously. DaveG

There are differing views on this so stand by..... If you go into O&A / Common Tab you will see where PTE is looking for the folder. Replace the folder from where you have put it to where PTE is looking for it and do that for all of the folders. When you have done this for all folders and you are back to square one - create a TEMPLATE of the show at your desired location and you can then resume the organisation of your folders. A template gathers all of the necessary images, music files etc into one folder for you. NEXT TIME - put/copy all of the images into ONE folder per PTE Project as you go along - this is the CORRECT way to do it. DaveG

Use "Create DVD-Video Disc" and add the saved .pte file. Just follow the prompts. DaveG

Scrolling Panoramas for the Challenged Video Card
davegee replied to Lin Evans's topic in Tutorials & Video Lessons
Hi Lin, Tried the Windowed Mode version. If anything, a little worse. I took particular notice this time and I can see a "jump" in the height of alternate frames where the black line appears. The rhs of the last slice is pretty badly "ripped" from top to bottom on my 1920x1200 monitor albeit that the window takes up the 1024x768 central portion. DaveG -

Lin, I have only just had a chance to try it for myself. I concur regarding the 1 pixel line between each "slice" on my laptop's 1280x800 monitor. I have black lines both sides and top and bottom. When the pan finishes the rhs of the last frame is a jagged line which is narrower on the bottom than the top. Have you checked each slice in PS to ensure that it is 1024x768 and looked at the edge pixels at PS MAXIMUM magnification. I just wondered if there was any "feathering" of the image? DaveG -

Lin, If you produce a 4:3 WINDOW MODE version at 1024x768 it will probably work on any monitor. I don't think that the aspect ratios of the different monitors is the concern - it's the re-scaling. DaveG -

Lin, You rescaled 4:3 to 4:3. Mike has a 16:10 monitor (1680x1050). The rescaling involves percentages and consequent errors. Mike did not say if it ran "FULLSCREEN" (height). DaveG -

Could the line that you see be possibly related to JPD's argument re the loss of "original mode"? It is possible that, if your monitor were set identically to Lin's, this line would not appear? Just a thought and IMO. DaveG -
Dick, With regard to the "contrast" on the Sony - there is a special colour setting for use when you are using HDMI, Input 4 and a Laptop. Check it out - I think that it will improve matters. Also, you need to make a show at 16:9 (1920x1080) specially for this application to see true pixel for pixel representation. That is why I asked if you had tried HDMI - it means sending a 1920x1080 show to a 1920x1080 monitor. Then, when you have done that compare it with sending the same show via VGA connector? DaveG
-
In addition to all of the above, if you click on File, Template - it will create a folder wherever you want with all of the files/images in that one folder. Thus the problem of images in various places/drives will be solved. DaveG

Dick / Mary, May I ask with respect if you have compared a connection between your respective laptops and your TVs using firstly HDMI and then VGA? .....and what were your conclusions? DaveG

Speed options : sections separated by default

Hi Dom, I already admitted to a touch of "confusion" - I realise that you of all people would know how it works. I think I understand your post a little better now. My suggestion for re-labelling might help in addition to any action related to your suggestions? DaveG -
[FORUM] Updating of the forum to new version 3.0.2

Eric, Install both and run either from the icon on your desktop. I always start Firefox these days. Sometimes if I click on a link, from an e-mail for instance, IE will start up as the default and I haven't quite figured out how to make Firefox the default yet. But for normal usage I find Firefox much better. The reason I changed was because a site I go to regularly suddenly failed to recognise me (I think that I was unable to log in somehow - it was a while ago) and someone suggested I try Firefox. I haven't had that problem since. Try it - you have nothing to lose and you might like it. You could be a little while waiting for Microsoft to fix anything! DaveG -

Suggestion for alternative labelling: Instead of "Separate Here" - GLUED Instead of "Glue Here" - SEPARATED Clicking on GLUED would toggle to SEPARATED. Clicking on SEPARATED would toggle to GLUED. The label in "Setting Up" would then always show the CURRENT status. DaveG -

In my understaning: If you glue at a particular keypoint, it will be ignored, isn't it? Regards, Xaver Apologies - I see what you mean - By clicking on "SEPARATE HERE" you set GLUE. When you look at "Setting Up" it then offers you the option to click and return to "GLUE HERE". Confusion! DaveG -
I must agree with Barry that it is preferable to see a 3:2 1024 wide show at actual pixels on a 1920 wide monitor. The alternative (fullscreen) version would have lost a lot of that gorgeous quality. Well done Maureen. DaveG

Eric, Try Firefox alongside your existing browser - they will run happily together. I now hardly use IE in favour of Mozilla. DaveG -

Dom, If you have three keyframes attached to an object and leave the default as "Separate" the PZR will ignore the middle keyframe and go from keyframe 1 to keyframe 3 at the set option (Smooth etc). You must "Glue" to include the middle keyframe. Try zooming an object from 100% to 200% and back again to 90% in the same slide and set Separate first and then change to Glue. DaveG -
Hi John, It has always been available and going into "Setting Up" allows you to add a template of you own custom design and save it for future use. DaveG

Question: If I produce a normal exe file, assuming all the content is 16x9 aspect, and connect it to my TV via an HDMI interface from an appropriate laptop will I get full HD? Note: I often insert images with higher definition than is necessary so that I can zoom in without loss of detail – will this be compromised in any way? Thanks for all your interesting and informative comments. Dave, If you make your project 1920x1080 (16x9) and your HD TV is also 1920x1080 you will have EXACTLY what you want. Check that your TV actually is 1920x1080 because smaller TVs (around 26") can sometimes be 1366x768. If you need to zoom into any of your images at, for instance, 200% you will need images of 3840x2160. Take special note of the resolution of the new laptop's monitor. If it is 16x10 and a lower res than 1920x1080 then you will not be able to see the monitor screen and the TV at the same time, but it is not a huge problem. My laptop is 1280x800 and my TV is (at present) 1366x768 - I get no problems using HDMI. DaveG

Mike, I never change the file name! The FOLDER name can indicate the subject i.e. Austria 2009. This folder can contain the NEF and JPEG folders and the PTE Project file can go into the JPEG folder along with any sound etc files. All of the JPEGs will have the same file name as the "parent" NEF file with the jpg suffix. Once the project is finished a TEMPLATE can be created on a backup drive which would then include all of the USED images and sound files. Changing the file name is not only laborious but can lead to having as many 001.jpeg files on your computer as you have PTE projects. You only need one unique NEF (or Canon equivalent) and one unique jpg each having the same file name. If you know the name of the "parent" NEF then finding the equivalent jpg is child's play. IMHO!
