Thanks Igor, I understand. I have to UN-TICK the "hold time points" to insert slides without affecting all of the other slides. On the PNG problem - I will investigate further and if necessary send you a sample. It does not happen every time - maybe it will be OK on the first "cycle" and show up on the second cycle (or vice versa). DaveG

Hi Igor, At present, it is impossible to add a slide at the beginning or middle of a show without affecting the following slides. Is this something which will be corrected when the 4.4 features are added or is it a problem? I am also getting unwanted bright pixels when PNG files are panned etc (the bright pixels travel with the PNG file) even though they were transparent when constructed/saved from PS. Any ideas why? DaveG

Thanks Al, I'm on XP - I'll try it. DaveG

Al, Please explain: "Enditall" ??? DaveG

Lin try this. Distort the text using perspective in PS so that your text layer (you will have to merge to a new layer before attemping this) is narrow at the top and wide at the bottom. In PTE bring it in from off screen at the bottom and pan upwards while zooming from large to small. Don't let the text disappear off screen - fade it out toward the end and keep on screen. Otherwise it looks as though it is changing course. Add "Star Wars" music for effect - it worked for me. DaveG

The advantage of using a Gaussian Blur overlay as opposed to doing it from within PTE is that by varying the opacity of the Blur layer some interesting halo effects are possible. I have been using this technique in still images for some time.

You can position the first and last slide in a group and Click on first slide; Shift Click on last slide and then use the "Arrange Selected Slides" option. That should help you to do what you want. DaveG

Create a keypoint at the beginning of the second transition on the first slide in the timeline. End your zoom/pan/rotate at that point instead of at the end of the incoming transition. Keeping ALL PZR functions between the two transitions helps to prevent jerkiness for those whose Graphics Cards are not as "modern" as they should be. Has anyone got a better way of describing the two transitions/grey areas in the timeline? DaveG

Hi Igor, Many thanks for this new Beta. I'm happy to report that the Gamma problem with the NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go 64M card has been solved. Happy holiday! DaveG
-
Hi Igor, Thanks for replying so quickly. The results of the test: The Test_NoGamma is the closest to the original of the three that you posted. The others appeared to be brighter. Incidentally, on my machine Lin's Test show has the same appearance - too bright. Thanks again, DaveG

Hi Igor the card is NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go 64M and no settings have been altered - don't have any games. In PTE 4 and Photoshop - images OK Same images in PTE5 - much brighter. DaveG
-
Is anyone experiencing (as I am) that their images are brighter (too bright) in PTE5 compared to the same images used in a PTE4 show? My images in a PTE4 show look exactly as they do when I save them from PS but the same images are much brighter when used in PTE5. DaveG

Congratulations Igor!! Well worth waiting for. Installed smooth as silk - PAN, ZOOM and ROTATE all easily set and works likw a dream with my NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go 64M card. Now to read the instructions.

I, too, work with RAW only. I do the initial tweaking in Nikon Capture which allows the saving of the edits back to the original (or a copy of the original). Photoshop recognises the edits done in Capture and opens the RAW for the final editing and saving as JPEG for use in PTE. What this means in terms of storage is that I am dealing with 5-6 Mb files wheras, if I convert to TIFF, I am dealing with 34 Mb files (at 16 Bit). I also have two external 120 Gig storage devices. So my vote goes to RAW!

Bill, Many thanks - I FULLY understand that you are only hosting a link. I have heard from Dave and will make arrangements with him. It is not so much wanting to see the show as understanding why SOME have no problem any others do. Also my problem appears to be a different problem to Tony's (With the same PTE show). The question remains - why? Thanks to all, DaveG
-
Hi David, I think that it is probably to do with Win-Zip which I don't have. Like Tony Falla I get the invalid/corrupted message on one machine and on my laptop I get: "Please insert the last disc of the Multi-Volume set and click OK to continue" Pity, I had heard good reports of this one. Maybe it's a Welsh thing?

To get this one back on track: Bill, Do you have a problem with ELY? Ken, If you read the original post again, I said that I have tried it direct from Morturn's site - same result. (The Sunset Show mentioned above opens and runs OK - Music by the Wes Montgomery Trio - Canadian Sunset - One of my favourite Wes tracks!). DaveG
-
Hi all, Has anyone else had a problem with opening the ELY show? I have downloaded 3 times (via Beechbrook and direct from Morturn's site) and on each occasion I get an error when trying to open the zipped folder. It says it is either Invalid or Corrupted. Any ideas? DaveG

No, that was either Richard Penniman (Little Richard) or Charles (Chuck) Berry.

I always create any text elements in Photoshop and therefore save them as part of the JPEG file. I rarely use the Object Editor for this purpose. It is possible that the Fonts used by the Object Editor would be affected but I cannot see how the Fonts in my Photoshop created Text would be affected?
-
Yes Ken, Same goes for fonts. NEVER assume that anything you create on your machine is going to work on any other machine where PP is concerned. You can however (with fonts) choose to "Embed True Type Fonts" which takes care of that problem. Same does NOT apply to Codecs. I repeat, if you are not going to use your own machine to do the pres then checking it well before-hand on the machine to be used is advised. The font problem should not affect PTE exe files?
-
Don't forget that the appropriate codec (for the movie) must be available on the machine neing used for the presentation. If you are using the same laptop, for instance as the PP was constructed on you should be OK. If not the presenter needs to TRY IT before the date of the presentation - MOST IMPORTANT! I have been through this with students many times - just because it works on one machine does not mean that it will work on all machines.

Hi all, Firstly, congratulations to Maureen for the masterpiece that she created from our submissions. I thought that she was an extremely brave person to take it on in the first place, but the end result could not have been better. The music chosen was right for the original idea and reflects the feelings of us all. I think it fair to suggest that if anyone has a similar idea in future he/she should be prepared to take it to a conclusion himself/herself! As for this debate about the technical aspects I will merely say that it runs perfectly on my P4 3.02 with 512 RAM Laptop with iffy graphics card (Igor is not sure that it will cope with V5). BUT, it also runs acceptably well on my P2 450 desktop with 64MB of RAM - (FROM A MEMORY KEY!). So please, no more about this! There is obviously nothing wrong with the show. If it does not run to your satisfaction on your machine then I think it is safe to say that it is your machine that is at fault. I want to raise one aspect for debate though and it applies not specifically to this show but to all shows which are offered for download. I think I am correct in saying that Maureen took our 1024x768 images (that is what I submitted) and made a show with the fit-to-screen option enabled? (It plays full screen on both my laptop's 1280x1024 monitor and my desktop's 1024x768 monitor). The end result is that I can see some degradation in some of the images on the 1280x1024 screen due to the upsizing which Igor has said PTE does not handle very well. Personally, I would prefer to see my 1024x768 images (in my own shows) presented at 1024x768 and strive to ensure in my shows that what I created is what the audience sees. Any comments? Daveg

Question for Igor: All this talk about Graphics Cards is confusing me so I have to ask a direct question. I have a Pentium4 3.05GHz Laptop with 512Mb of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go 64M Graphics Card. What sort of performance can I expect from this when Version 5 is available? Thanks, Dave.
