I'm not sure if this will be of any help Brian, but I made a template a long time ago, in Powerpoint which allows the dropping in of images (usually oversize) which can then be manipulated to fit the guide lines I created. If you want a copy just say. The results are accurate and never vary. Dave.

In Audacity you can acheive this by opening a file and then IMPORTING your second file. Perform a FADE OUT on the first file and a FADE IN on the second. Then slide the second file along so that the fade in is overlapping the fade out. Generating silence is an easy way to slide the second file along underneath the first file - if you go too far simply delete some of the silence. Once you have it as you require export to MP3. I always advocate working on WAV files and then saving to MP3 when you are satisfied with the result. DaveG

If you just want to get it from A to B use: http://www.Dropload.com DaveG

FS, Can you post something at Beechbrook or elsewhere so that we can assess what you perceive to be the problem? DaveG
-
Hi, You are going to have to explain your problem in a little more detail? As was explained to you in a previous post, if your D70 files are reduced in Photoshop to 1024x768 with a file size of around 300-400Kb, you should have ZERO pixelation like everyone else. Make sure that your show is set to 1024x768 in Project Options / Screen (use Windowed Mode without border) and that "fit to screen" is OFF (unticked).

Agreed Al, But I was talking about maybe 2 - 3 HOURS of Web Cam Video per trip to give an idea of what they are capable of recording on 20 GIG. Sad isn't it? DaveG

Sound track problems and amplification difficulties
davegee replied to giljones's topic in General Discussion
If you are talking about your desktop machine it will probably have a stereo LINE output jack on the sound card which will feed into your amplifier. Make sure you have the appropriate stereo jack to two phonos lead. If you are talking about a laptop then you can use the HEADPHONE output in the same way - same lead. I do this regularly. Daveg -
Al, ipod and similar units like the Archos have up to 60 GIG of memory so I don't think that space will be a problem. A friend goes out biking on weekends and records every trip he does via web-cam and Archos Storage Device. No problem - AVIs are small compared with MPEG etc. DaveG

OK - I have "done it" !! From the number of responses that this thread has generated I expected that there would have been many more submissions. Come on guys - let's support Dave. DaveG

I think that only something like PowerPoint will allow you to go to any slide from any other slide. DaveG

Geoff, Are you inviting critique? Dave

Try again, but this time start with EVERYTHING related to the project - the project file, the images, the sounds, the exe etc IN THE SAME FOLDER. If that does not work please come back with more info. Dave

Dave, Has a closing date been set? I have not submitted yet and do not want to miss out. DaveG

Hi Bill, I'm not sure that I understand the last comment you made, but are you aware that you can select a GROUP of slides (by clicking on the first and shift-clicking on the last in the Timeline) and synchronising the group to any section of the music required? DaveG
-
Thanks Bill, That's exactly what I think everyone would want. My submission will follow soon. Best wishes and thanks for all the great work you do, DaveG

Hi Bill, Going back to Jan 5 in reply to my query about everyone concerned with the project being able to see (if not download) all that has been submitted, you said: "DaveG, I will be happy to set things up so that everyone involved with this project has the opportunity to have all resources available to them. I don't see this as a repository for items that are not related to this project, therefore I may impose some restrictions on access to certain areas. Nothing has been finalized and I welcome any suggestions as we move forward. Bill" Will you still be able to do this? Best wishes, DaveG

Hi all, My vote goes to - 1024x768 full screen 4:3 ratio. There's nothing worse than aspect ratios changing during a show.... ....and this is an attempt to be unified is it not? Just my thoughts, DaveG

Hi Al, There is an alternative to this. If you have a HDD/DVD recorder you can make each show individually (on a DVD-RW) and transfer to your HDD recorder. Then you can compile as many as will fit onto a 4.7G 1 Hour DVD. If you are prepared to sacrifice a little quality you can change the MODE and go to 1.5 or even 2 hours on a DVD (I don't recommend that though). Menu wil depend on the make of your HDD/DVD recorder. Making different compilations for different people becomes very simple (and much quicker) - 13 minutes for a 1 hour DVD in my case. DaveG

Thanks Bill, I just thought it would be nice to see the sorts of things other people are submitting. Best wishes, DaveG

Hi Bill, Will the submitted images be available for viewing prior to constructing the show? DaveG

Need advice about synchronization and timeline
davegee replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
I cannot see any problems which could arise out of these changes. Only time will tell. DaveG -
Position the first "newborn image" at the beginning of the "newborn song" and the last image of the "newborn images" at the end of the "newborn song" making sure that all of the "newborn images" are lying between first and last in the timeline. Then in the TIMELINE - click on first "newborn image" and shift-click on the last "newborn image" and in TIMED POINTS click on "ARRANGE SELECTED POINTS". Do the same for all sections. What you will most likely find is that the time for each slide in the "Newborn Section" will be different to the time for each slide in the "3 Months Section" unless you have chosen the music timings precisely to suit the number of slides in each section. You can also use AUDACITY to join all of the clips together into one MP3 for simplicity and then position as above. Hope that helps? DaveG

I echo Ed's comments earlier regarding "competitions" etc. I have 3 images which I could submit but I'm unsure how the music thing is going to work? I don't see how a piece of music for each 3 image section is going to be fitted together easily. PUTTING THE COPYRIGHT ISSUE ASIDE FOR ONE MOMENT (!!!!!) the ideal piece of music for the PROJECT would be something like John Lennon's "IMAGINE". The various slides would then have some sort of common theme to work to. We still haven't established: Image sizes, file sizes, where to upload etc. etc. Best wishes, DaveG.

Since it was Dave's idea originally, perhaps he could give some direction as to which way he thinks the project should go, given the ideas already suggested. Personally I would vote against the idea of everyone downloading the submitted pics and making their own shows. I have seen that idea elsewhere and have not been over-enthusiastic about the results. Count me in! Once you have the logistics sorted out (where to upload etc) I will respond. DaveG
