Glen was a one time poster back in 2008, but someone was reading the thread and might have misinterpreted it so I tried to make the point that PTE has moved on since then so that the next person who finds this thread by accident by searching on Pan and Zoom has up to date info. Reading the last post in a thread does not always tell the whole story. I will give up on that idea - it does not work.

Styles are not additive - you could apply it as PART of another Style. But if you try to apply it as a single operation style it would negate all other animations and any other styles in particular. DG

2016 Update. In the current (version 8) version of PTE this type of use is easy to accomplish with Styles. DG

Lin, Something like the "image and border" tool which acts globally. But the "image and border" tool is too clumsy in that it puts a border on the outside of an object and necessitates a "compensation" via the canvas settings. A simple line or border inside the confines of the Slide sitting on top of all other objects set globally with the ability to switch it off on a slide by slide basis is what I would like to see. Barry, Yes, it could be developed to produce distressed edges and other effects such as Black/White/Black etc.

Igor, There is (and always has been) a demand amongst users of PTE for a method of putting a Border around slides in a slide show of variable size and colour. Many workarounds exist and they are good workarounds. I use them regularly. But isn't it time that PTE had its own means of putting a Border on a whole Slide Show without the need for copying a png from slide to slide or resorting to workarounds in the Watermark Option? The facility could sit alongside the Watermark option in Project Options/Advanced Tab and its controls should include: 1 Width of Line/Border in Pixels/Percent 2. Colour of Line/Border There is also the need to be able to turn that Border off for Specific Slides e.g. Introductory and Ending Slides etc That facility could reside in Slide Options. I hope that you will be able to offer some hope of this becoming a reality. DG

If you have Photoshop open at the same time and have a lot of memory allocated to it, that can also have an effect on PTE Animations. I had that problem recently. DG

Do you get it in the EXE or just in the Preview? It would help if you could attach a 2 slide show which illustrates the problem. Use Backup in Zip (File Menu). If the files are small enough you should be able to directly upload here. (Max = 3Mb). DG

My "New" laptop has a setting which dims the brightness when the battery power diminishes and brightens when mains power is added. Could it be something to do with the power management settings? It is strange that it only happens with PTE, but on the other hand there are settings which allow different softwares to access the two types of graphics in different ways so it might be worth digging into the settings for power management.

It seems that predicting the release of Version 9 Beta 1 is not a precise science. It cannot be TOO much longer? DG

A Floating Images Style. Add an ODD number of Images to the Slide List - Minimum of three. Optimised for either 3:2 images in a 3:2 Aspect Ratio Project or 16:9 images in a 16:9 AR Project. Will work with any AR images but some adjustment might then be necessary. Floating Images.ptestyle Add a suitable background of your choice. DG

Added a Star Mask Style to the first post. Add image to Slide List and Apply the Style. Adjust Size and Position of the image to suit. DG

Added a Portrait Version to first post. DG

Right click on any Style and choose "Change Style Category". If you are creating a new style just enter a new category name during the Create operation and it will create it for you. http://docs.picturestoexe.com/en/slide-styles/create_style Enter the Name of the New Category that you want to create and hit "Change" or enter the name of an existing Category to "Move" the Style. DG P.S. You can't edit the built in Categories that install with PTE.

A simple style which creates a Mask with a Border. Add a single 3:2 image to a 3:2 Project or a 16:9 Image to a 16:9 Project Slide List and apply the Style. Other AR Images will be in "Cover Slide" Mode and might need a little adjustment. The result is a Mask which can be copied and pasted as many times as required into another slide. The Image has a subtle zoom effect. Simple mask with Border.ptestyle Simple Portrait Mask.ptestyle Star Mask Style.ptestyle (Add image to Slide List and Apply the Style. Adjust Size and Position of the image to suit). DG

Updated the Album.ptestyle to be compatible with both 3:2 and 16:9 Projects. Album.ptestyle DG

My first shot at a complete 3:2 Photo Album Style: Album.ptestyle Style needs a minimum one image - no upper limit. Add a Landscape Image(s) to the Slide List (3:2 Project) and Apply the Style. Optimised for 3:2 AR but any AR can be added albeit that some adjustment might be necessary. Pages can then be added from the Styles in the first post of this thread following the individual instructions contained in the styles. DG

Modified "Creating a Slide Style" to clarify "Non-Main Images" in a Style.

Update: I have just learned something I didn't previously know from someone who tried this on another forum. I have reported a number of times that BluRay DVD Players mostly have USB inputs and will play MP4 through a TV Media Player. However, I had not realised that BD Players will also read Data DVDs. So if you burn MP4 files to a DVD as data the DVD can be read on a BD Player and played via HDMI on a HD TV. I have tried it on my Sony BD Player and confirm that it works.

The answer to this little puzzle is in the hands of the Style Author. Example: Add a Blank slide. In O&A add a Gradient Rectangle (Default Colour) In Slide Options change the slide name from BLANK to STYLE BLUE GRAD Create the Style Add another Blank Slide Apply the Style Blue Grad Style In the Slide List it should now read: 2. STYLE BLUE GRAD
