Standardise Aspect Ratio Height for New Projects?
davegee replied to davegee's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
...was what for you Ken? -
Igor, In a future version would it be possible to standardise the Height (in pixels) for all Aspect Ratios when starting a new project? Examples: 4:3 = 1440x1080 3:2 = 1620x1080 5:4 = 1350x1080 16:9 = 1920x1080 16:10 = 1920x1200 The last one (1920x1200 = 16:10) is standardised to the width. I see no point in causing an annoyance to the many people still using 16:10 My monitor is, (for the time being) still 1920x1200, but I never use that AR for projects. I think that it is fair to say that there are now more people using 1080 high (and higher) monitors than all the rest put together?? DG

I suggest that a little time reading some of the main headings of the Online Help File would be of benefit with regard to PTE. http://docs.picturestoexe.com/en/main In Project Options / Main and Screen you can change your Resolution and Aspect Ratio of your show. Set 16:9 and 1920x1080 (or 1280x720). Make a one slide show and burn to a dvd as a trial and go from there. DG P.S. have you considered upgrading to version 8?

Presumably you are making a 4:3 show?? ...and the 4:3 show is being distorted to fit the width of the TV and maintain the height?? ....thus, short fat people. Make your show in the 16:9 format and add (superimpose) your 4:3 images on the 16:9 show. If you are zooming your images you will need a Matte to contain and maintain the 4:3 images. Untick Project Options / Screen/ "Fixed Size of Slide (in pixels)" before burning the DVD. When you preview the show you should see a 4:3 show with background coloured strips to the left and right. Try making a single slide 16x9 Project and burn that to DVD as a trial. BTW you are at least two versions behind the current Version 8 which doesn't help. If you were running the current Version 8 I could post a Style which you could use as a Template for making your show. If I have made wrong assumptions about your AR etc please come back with more detail? Make of TV / DVD Player? Standard DVD Player or BluRay? HDMI or Scart connection? If you are sure that you have checked ALL settings on the TV is there a menu on the DVD / BluRay Player that you might have missed? DG

The Online Help File: http://docs.picturestoexe.com/en/project-options/audio-tab#adding_the_audio_of_a_video_clip_to_an_audio_track DG P.S. if you add your video clip as the First Slide and add its audio using the above method you can LINK the audio to its slide using the right click menu in Timeline View. Then, when you re-position the slide, its audio will automatically sync to the slide.

PTE has the facility (built in) to convert all audio tracks to a single mp3 for the exe file thus reducing the exe file size and potentially solving your problem? (Or not) Worth a try? DG

Download version 7.5 from here: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?/topic/14948-picturestoexe-deluxe-75-beta/ ...or upgrade to version 8. You will be able to supply you details when upgrading. DG

Which version are you trying to activate? The key that you describe is possibly for an earlier version than version 8. Go to wnsoft.com and find the older version which suits your key or upgrade to version 8. http://www.wnsoft.com/archives/

TV Slideshow Picture slightly larger than screen
davegee replied to MelBuryManu's topic in Troubleshooting
Follow the Help on Importing a Style: http://docs.picturestoexe.com/en/slide-styles/import_style and Applying a Style: http://docs.picturestoexe.com/en/slide-styles/slide_styles Start off with a single blank slide in your slide list. -

Then you probably need a lower percentage - try starting at 88%. Did you try the Style that I posted? http://docs.picturestoexe.com/en/techniques/dvdproject DG -
Great demo Lin! I have been looking at a similar approach with the new D7200 and 70-300 Lens at 300mm. First image full frame (6000x4000) resized. Second image - a 1620x1080 actual pixels crop. I don't know what the effective focal length is - perhaps someone will work it out DG

Further to the above post, here's a Style which you could use to determine the correct percentage for your DVD Player / TV. Import the style and apply to a blank 16:9 slide. This will produce a short 8 slide project. Burn to DVD and try it on your setup. Whe the white line fits your TV correctly - that's the percentage you need to use. TV Safe Zone.ptestyle You could also use it to prove the MP4 method. DG -

All DVD/TV setups have a "TV Safe" Zone which varies from brand to brand and was greater on CRT TVs than on modern LCD (etc) TVs. If you use a figure of AROUND 90-93% for your TV you will not be far out. (Experiment). For your own viewing on your own TV you would be far better off using the "Publish as HD Video" option and outputting as an MP4. The MP4 can be transferred to a USB Memory Key and plugged into the USB port on your Panasonic TV. TV Safe area does not then come into play. If you wish to send DVDs to friends etc then you need to take account of the 90-93% reduction in size needed to get all of the picture into play. DG -
So it is, Mick. DG

Hi Chuck, A good place to start would the "Suggestions for new versions". When you do that users sometimes step in with workarounds etc. Igor will pick it up eventually. Right now there is a big push on Version 9 which appears to be keeping the team busy. DG

By "show" do you mean as an "executable" or as a "video" (mp4; avi etc).
