I'm having another " I don't know what I'm doing wrong or not doing" issue. On the desktop of the MBA are icons for three slideshows I made last Sept with Picture2Exe v8. The app files (eg., Mana-Pools.app) displayed fine when I presented them, but they will not open now. When I click on the *.app file, a pale green window flashes open and then returned to the Finder window. The files are also on a Thumb drive in Zip format. The unzipped apps will also not open on the MBA. I must have something set wrong on the MBA. Any suggestions would be most welcome. I've committed to presenting the same slideshows at a meeting in Feb. The PC versions on the Thumb drive of the same slideshows display fine on a PC, but I need to use the MBA at the meeting.

Thanks, DG. I'm not sure how I got Cover Slide set for all slides in the group, but I poked around in Slide Style and found a style under Image that let me change the setting back to where I wanted it.

I know that it must be easy, but I've tried, including searching the forum with no success. How do I make Fit to slide the default?

I would welcome comments and suggestions for improvement on a slideshow I put together for a presentation at a local Audubon Society meeting. The talk at Audubon was well received and I will present a similar talk in a couple of months, so there is time for improvement. Here's the link: http://www.dougboltphotography.com/Travel/PGAS/35909517_cS29QG#!i=3027753587&k=ftjwwDx It is a 20 min slideshow. Watch as much as you want. The animations and two audio track approach is essentially the same throughout.

Igor, I may not be clear on what you mean by "load the certain project on startup". To be clear, until I ran your last beta 8 with the success described above, no project loaded. I'd click on the p2e executable and the PC did not display anything (other than the 13% CPU in Taskmgr) on the screen related to P2E. Again, I'm not certain that my telling p2e beta 8.b17 to load the 7.0 settings solved the problem, but I'm considering the possibility. To update on current behavior of P2e for ver 7, 7.5.6, 7.5.10, and 8.0, are now all launching normally. As you requested, I launched v7.5.10 and successfully opened the .pte project that v7 opened by default. V7.5 and v8 also successfully open that project. Not that I'm complaining. Far from it, but all versions of p2e that I have installed are now working normally. Is it reasonable to assume that there was some problem with the settings from 7.5.6 that I initially told P2e to use when I upgraded to ver 8 and those settings prevented the new install from launching successfully. Once I selected v7 settings to be loaded (as I did when I tried the last test beta), the problem was solved. Anyway, I can not now reproduce the problem by installing the first test program (one that did not launch successfully) and telling it to use ver 7.5.6 settings. I hope these observations will be helpful to you. I'll be happy to do some more testing, if you think it would be useful to you, but I think P2E is working fine. However, Videobuilder may need an upgrade. At least, when I attempt to create a video, I see the message that I should get a new videobuilder program. I see the message with both v 7.5.10 and v8. Reading another thread indicated v8 will need a new VB, but I assumed that v7.5.10 would not. Please advise.

I'm suspicious that the issue was caused by selecting 7.5, rather than 7.0 for importing settings. I'm almost certain that I selected 7.5 when I upgraded to 7.5.6 some time ago, but.... Anyway, I removed the 7.5 and 7.5.6 and then installed 7.5.10 and selected to import from 7.0. It installed and loaded fine. Tomorrow, I'll see if 8.beta will load, but for now, I think I'm up and running with 7.5.10. Thanks, Igor, for all your help.

Success! asked to import from 8.0 beta 17 : because 8 had never loaded normally, I selected 7.0. On prior testing, I've selected 7.5 because that has worked fine in the past. Trial ok final ok Load project 1-5, 5a & 6 ok Final tpesettings 6 OK and pte loaded normally. Note that I elected to have PTE load settings from 7.0 instead of 7.5. May, or may not be a factor, but I wanted to point it out.

Igor, Yes, 7.0, 7.5, 7.5.6, and 8. I removed (add/remove) 7.5 and 8 and then reinstalled. No help. sorry for the delay. Skype call.

type 1-8 ok dpr1-3 ok unit 1-4 ok final 1-2 ok continue trial ok final pte setting 3-4 ok final pte setting 5 was the last popup . Pte in taskmgr now shows 13% CPU

Ok, Program type 1-3 ok, then asked from where to import settings (i said 7.5), type 4, ok, then popup said DPR_1, 2 73 OK, then popup changed to Unit 1, 2,3,4,5 ok and then pupup changed to Eval copy, clicked continue trial, Taskmgr now shows 13% and program appears to be locked (acting like I've described in previous posts). Here's a snip from Taskmgr

Igor, Yes, sure! Yes, the processor is a i7-920, which I believe has 8 cores. I've attached a snip showing core info from taskmgr.

ATI Radeon HD 4600 card. let AMD detect and suggest driver update. Installed successfully. Rebooted. Tested > same result. Did not launch. I reset the Catalyst Control Center to slowest speed settings and retested. Same result. Did not launch. Each time, 13% CPU displayed in Taskmag. I've uploaded a clip from taskmgr, in case there might be some useful data there. BTW, the individual values do not seem to change over time.

The very cute grand kids, I'm guessing, loaded and played normally. No issues. I'll reinstall the video drivers now.

Thanks for your help and suggestions. In most of the trials mentioned above, I clicked on the PicturesToExe.exe in the program folder. I've tried from within the 7.0, 7.5, 7.5.6, and 8.0 folders, as well as from the desktop icons. All behave the same - P2E does not show up on the screen, but the process running 13% of the CPU starts being listed in the Taskmgr screen. I clicked on videobuilder.exe and videoconverter.exe from within the P2E program folder and they both load, ie., I get a the expected screen on my monitor and they both seem to behave as expected. Just now (first time I've tried), I clicked on the WelcomeDemo.pte file. The progress circle was lit for a fews seconds and PC then asked which program to use to open the file. P2E was a listed choice and I clicked on it. After that, nothing. I checked Taskmgr and there was a second copy of P2E with 13% CPU showing. I ended both processes and tried again. PC did not ask which program to use, but did not open P2E and the process was listed in Taskmgr. I may have misled the description of this problem by mentioning that I had not used p2e since installing the SSD without mentioning that that process was carried out in August of this year. I still suspect that that process may be involved with the current problem, but only my suspicion because I had to move lots of files from the old 1T C-hd to the D-HD in order to install the 256M SSD. There has been no change in video performance that I'm aware of. I do routine Windows Updates.

The fact that PTEviwer5.exe also did not load seems informative. with executable in ver7 main, the message was just could not load executable. with Ver 7.5 and ver 7.5.6, it was slideshow file not found. Hope this info helps. Also, device mgr didn't show any issues.

Ran DXdiag.exe and found no issues. All three draw features were enabled. Event viewer didn't show any entries for the 13 previous hours.

Win7Pro with Service pac1, i7-920 chip with 12G memory P2E shows in the process tab, not app. UAC and Data preventions columns are blank. Not showing in toolbar. pteViewer5.exe does not load - message says slideshow file not found I'll post this and then try your suggestions. Thanks for your attention.

Lin, Thanks again. uninstalled 8 and then installed it in D:\WnSoft PicturesToExe\8.0 Beta 16 . Install seemed to go fine. It gave me the trial warning, but didn't launch. P2e process using 13% CPU was listed in Taskmgr. I then followed the instruction in the link you provided below (thanks for that) and was able to open the documents and settings folder. But clicking on the 7.5 icon did not launch P2E. So far as I know, P2E is the only program (among many) on this PC that is not launching as expected.
-
thanks Lin, P2E 8 and 7.5 went into C:\program files(x86)\Wnsoft PicturesToExe, but that is where 7.0 and 7.5.6 were installed and they worked fine. But, as I mentioned, I don't think I've used p2e since installing the ssd drive. My guess that something didn't get transferred when I migrated program files and I'll uninstall 8 (via add/remove) and try to reinstall noting where it wants to put things. It wants to put them in the above location. Another thing I just noticed. I can't access the .\documents and settings folder. I see a locked icon on that folder. Administrators do not have permissions to access. That does not seem normal...
-
First, I click on the P2E .exe and nothing seemed to happen. Checked in Taskmgr and P2E shows to be running using 13% CPU. I don't recall running P2E since replacing my C-drive with a SSD, so blamed the migration and figured something was missing. I reinstalled 7.5. It seemed to install normally, but when I clicked on the P2E icon, nothing seemed to happen, but the P2E process started running in Taskmgr using 13% CPU. Ended process and installed ver 8beta. It asked about trial and installed as expected, but pgm not display the opening screen. I am committed to a slideshow on Dec 4, so a solution would be greatly appreciated.

I created a .avi file and the text that I had added to the slides showed up there. I have not readdresses the issue with HD video.

Should I remove old P2E programs - 7.5.6 will not load

Thanks, Ken. Stu's KeyCopy made the same .reg files that I just did by hand. But, never hurts to make sure. I gotta go now, but may get back in time to uninstall all p2e. However, I'll wait on your assessment of that plan before I do. -

Thanks, Ken. I exported the p2e key and the Wnsoft key (I also have video builder). P2E key referenced v 6.5, even though I've been using p2e before 6.5. don't understand that, but lots of things I don't understand about the registry. So, is it now save to uninstall all p2e programs with add/remove and then reinstall v 7.5.6? I assume I will loose reference to all previous pte shows. Right? -

One question and one observation: Question for Ken, where in the registry do I find the registration key? I searched but did not find the info. However, I did find several entries for old P2e beta. Observation, I used add/remove to uninstall the above mentioned p2e beta programs (3, as I recall) and then rebooted, used ccleaner to clean the registry. When I opened p2e (7.5.6), it again took 4 unsuccessful tries before it loaded normally on try 5. I'm still looking for a solution to this problem.
