thank Ken, i will try your sugestion with the show. i have been wondering if i have a 'drive' problem. it is only the good comments from satisfied members of this forum that keep me thinking it is a problem my end and not the programmes p2e and ulead. i have had more than my share of difficulties so far. i will keep at it though. thanks again Ken, tom

hi all, i have produced a slideshow 250 slides and 7 pieces of music. (some of you will know about it). i have it saved in a folder within my documents and when i open in my pc it it plays great, smooth and the synchronized music is perfect. unfortunatley when i copy the file to disc in my cd writer to play on a computer the photos are fine but the music is not in line with the slides and is a little shaky and misses a few notes. it is an aplication file acording to the properties info. also when i burned it in ulead dvd factory 4 and created a video cd this way the quality is abysmal. blurry and not acceptable. i was hoping i would not need anymore help with this but so far all i have achieved is to put the show together. any help is appreciated, tom

thanks nathan. that seems to work fine and will be perfect for now. in a while and after i get my nerves back in order i will try to do a proper slide show. i hope you all will not mind giving me some pointers. dont worry though, you can all rest for a while. thank you all again very, very much, tom

hi nathan, i have spoken to my nephew and he is just happy for what i am doing and as he has a laptop to play the show on and is not sure what his dvd player is(he is on holiday) it will be fine to produce a cd to play on a computer. if it is possible do you think we can do it this way for now and when i find out for sure what he has i and buy myself a dvd writer at least most of the procedure will be the same,( says me with my fingers crossed)thanks, tom

hi nathan and all. i have finally made some success thanks to you good people on this forum. nathan, i downloaded the link you advised and even though i do not know what to do with it i decided to start at the beginning with my show. This time the slide show was in 'my docs' as intended. After i realised i did not have a dvd writer but only a cd writer on my computer i started again with this format and all worked fine. i burned the cd with MF4 and played the cd in windows media viewer. i still have problems but i have decided not to jump off tower bridge because of them after all. when i play the cd the quality is very poor(unsharp pictures) and all text is the same and appears to be 'breaking' up. also it only plays the first piece of music and not the rest. there are seven pieces all together. i then started another show with 35 pictures and one piece of music and everything from start to finish went smooth and played perfectly. the discs i am using are the same i copy music cd's and photos at other times. does anyone have any ideas for me to try please. i realise i started this project with the wrong 'show' but i never realised what was involved. i would like to add that t is very refreshing to know there are people who you have never met are prepared to help(repeatedly) for no gain to themselves as you all have done with me and possibly saved my sanity. thaks to you all, tom

hi ken, the trouble is ken that i cannot get the show into ulead. i have saved it in my documents and also my video but when i open ulead and go to my documents, video and my recent documents it 's not there. i am sure it is my lack of understanding of the programmes and not your instructions but no luck i am afraid. ken what are trmp avi?. i have spent at least 80 hours on this project and i am beginning to wain under the stress of it all and i am considering packing it all in. ever wished you had never started something? i am working at it late nights and early mornings and waking inthe middle of the night as i have promised my nephew it will ok for next week when they come to view it. sorry for rambling ken thanks, tom

nathan, thanks to you and ken. maybe i should explain a little more. i have a digital slide show ready to put to disc. i get confused and probably pass this confusion on to you. i want to have a disc with my slide show /music and play it on a dvd player and if possible a computer. it is ok if i cant do both with the same disc. 'video' is mentioned but is this something else or another term for my finished show?what section of ulead do i use. is it create a slide show dvd or create a video dvd? i still cannot get my show to open in ulead. i save it in my documents and it is nowher to be found in ulead. i suppose my imediate problem is just to be able to open the slide show at all. i can then try the other avenues you have so patiently helped me with. thanks, tom...ps...ken, sorry for the wrong slot. i dont know how to move it though. pps....i bet you are beginng to believe i am really from another planet by now.

hi all, sorry to appear so stupid but i am getting nowhere. i have the show finished and then i create an avi and then i am told to burn to disc before clicking finish. this is where my trouble starts. i have purchased ulead dvd factory 4 and installed it. i have no idea what to do next. the forum page is too much for me to understand i am afraid. can someone tell me how to get my slideshow in to ulead dvd factory. after i open ulead what do i tell it i want it to do? then where do i get the slide show from,? i do not know what .exe files are or if i need them. i am going around in circles. if anyone is willing to help could you please put the instructions down in a step by step order. feel free to treat it as though you are talking to a new born baby if you wish as that is about as clever as i appear to be with PTE. i am afraid i know nothing of computer jargon so what may seem obvious to you probably will not be to me. thank you for your patience, tom

hi Ron, this is where you start to wonder if i am on the same planet as you. do you mean all the pictures can/should only be a certain size to work efficiently? what size is the best? regarding the template option. can you instruct me in the most simplest of terms what i have to do. i have one of Barry Beckams tutorials but not the one i need now i suspect. i think i have dived in at the deepend without understanding the fundamentals of PTE. i will probably just play the newlyweds the cd with the photos and some background music on another cd for now until i understand more.

thank you all for your concern and your advice. i totaly agree that the show would bore people to death. it is me while making it. the truth is it is not for anyone in the public but for my nephew and his new wife. they asked me to take lots of snapshops on their wedding just before christmas and i thought that instead of printing lots of small prints i could make it more interesting to them and their parents. you know what girls and their weddings mean to them. at a camera club i once sat through a guest speaker who showed two and a half hours of pictures of buses. i was suicidal before it finished. i will try to understand your comments ( i am not very computer literate ) and maybe if i require some futute assistane i can call on you all again. thanks to you all. tommy. ps: i thought a new thread would be best to reach you all.

hi all. i was wondering if some of you might look at the way i am doing a slide show and tell me if i am on the right track or not. i selected the 250 slides and added them to the play list > chose the 7 music tracks> in project options i selected the first music > at the chosen slide to change to the next music i went into customise slide and selected the music > i repeated these steps until the end of the show > i then went to file > save as > i named the show and saved it in my documents. possibly all ok so far i think? at least , when i double click on it it opens and plays as i want it to. i should add i never touched the create button at all as i do not know if this is required or indeed what it does. the next part is unexplored territory to me > do i purchase ulead dvd factory and install it on my computer and then hopefully import the saved file in to it and then after burning it i will have a cd that i can play on a computer and more importantly others can play on their dvd's? as i am new to P T E and confused by the time line i went through the laborious steps of selecting the music and adding more (or less ) slides to 'pan' out the music. i can now see from this exellent forum the timeline is a great asset once understood. i never thought i would be too interested in slide shows being a landscape lover but i am geting more and more hooked. i hope you good and well informed people will be gentle with me as you are with other newcomers even though you will have no doubt gone over these requests too many times to remember. thank you, tom

hi all, first i must say thank you to Igor for sorting my log in problem. i am not sure who was the most frustrated. i am new to PTE but have managed to put a show of 250 pics and seven pieces of music for a family wedding. i know i need a programme to convert the show to a disc that i can play as auto run and on a television but i dont know where to get it or indeed what one. so far when i save it to my documents and then play the disc the music is unsynchronised and on one atempt the pics were not even there. also.are there any simple instuctions for the timeline. i have a tutorial from a camera mag for an old version but not that helpful. thanks, tommy
