Andrew, it looked great on my desktop monitor set at 1400 x 1050. Pictures were all very crisp and colors vivid. Very enjoyable. Wish you'd left the closing slide with credits linger a bit longer so I could read it all but, I'll just have to watch it again! Dan D.

Wow, thanks Andrew and Lin. Your comments are a thrill to see. The motorcycle goes up in the back of my truck via a folding ramp. It is wide enough to keep my feet down on both sides but still a bit scary to back a motorcycle off the truck. There is one point when the back wheel is on the ground but front wheel is still on the ramp and my feet can't reach the ramp or ground. Riding up into the truck is much less frightening. I told my wife for years that "one day, when the kids are grown" I'll have a "naked lady" in my garden. Well they've been grown and gone for a few years now. She's at the very back and worth a walk down the path to view I think! Peace! Dan D. Louisville, Kentucky USA home of the Louisville Slugger bat!

I have created an exe show of my family, vacations and gardens from the year 2009. My aim is a photo keep sake for my family. I realize that watching someone elses "home movies" can be boring but I think some here might be interested anyway. It has music and captions and some pretty good views of places we visited. The show was created for family so it has lots of pictures of us but there are plenty of views of WARM places. Last year we visited Gulf Shores Alabama USA We had a terrible ice storm at home in Kentucky We visited Pine Mtn GA and Callaway gardens while the azelias were in full bloom We took a hot air balloon ride We spent a week in Shenandoah Nat. Park in the Blue Ridge Mtns. We visited Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. We had some local trips and a garden party and I've included some pictures of our back yard gardens. Yes it's an amateur creation but just thought there might be some here who are maybe a bit intimidated by the professional shows that might get inspiration. This is my first attempt in nearly 4 years and also my first time to use any sort of pan/zoom. Also my first show where I've trimmed the music files to fade out and start at the appropriate times. MANY thanks to Lin Evans and others for their wonderful tutorials and links. Special thanks for the links to free music editing software. (yes I did make a donation!) I could not have done it without this forum and all your great support. I have downsized the jpg files considerably to keep the result of a smaller file size. There is some mottling in places but it still looks OK I think. My personal high def MP4 looks great on a big screen LCD TV but it's too large to upload. http://tinyurl.com/ykh8bxg (file name 2009_Dan_Rita_med_resolution.exe) about 54 Meg. The show runs a little over 16 minutes not counting music credits at the end.

I agree with Jim. Shut down and re-boot and see what happen then. Good luck!

LED TV + WD HD player=Fantastic!!! but question:
KyDan replied to goddi's topic in General Discussion
Gary and all, thanks for this tip. I too have made a few slide shows of vacation pictures and they look great on a PC but when burned on a DVD and seen on either a CRT TV or new big screen LCD TV they were lacking. My wife WANTS to see them on TV!! So I tried my latest vacation pictures as HD MP4 and played them thru my son's Sony Play station 3. They look awesome on our big screen TV Yes!!! Finally I have the quality I've wanted for years. I probably would not have thought to try the MP4 were it not for Gary's post. Here is another more expensive alternative to the Western Digital HD player-- Sony Play station 3. Maybe you already have one for the kids?? It will play your MP4 files just fine and it has a USB port in the front so you can import your slide shows easily to play on it. ALSO- for those of us in the US who are Netflix subscribers the PS3 plays blue ray DVDs and it supports Netflix instant movies. You can watch movie and TV shows downloaded from Netflix instant view on a PS3 also. And the PS3 is blue tooth ready so you can wirelessly network it to your PC and your cable TV. Not to mention the large hard drive in the PS3 can hold all your music MP3 files and will play them and show you cover art for the albums at the same time. Thanks again for the tip on watching my shows as MP4 on my TV. They look wonderful. Peace! Dan D. Louisville, Kentucky good ole USA -
The link above leads to an earlier discussion. The links in the earlier discussion lead to Invalid or Deleted File I find it troubling that some call the judges "tasteless" while not having seen the other shows to compare. We have judges to choose or decide things. While we may not agree with their judgments we must respect that they were chosen to judge and we were not. Most will agree that at times "life is not fair".... don't loose heart!

Perfect!! My first try it would not work but I deleted the slide and then re-added it and now my text box comes to the front when I tell it to. Thanks to you all. dd

I guess I am stuck again. I am able to create a rectangle and a text box but when I drag the text box to the rectangle it disappears behind the rectangle. I am puzzled how to "place the text object on top" of the rectangle. Help! dd

DG and Xaver, Awesome! Thanks so much! DD

Greetings! I have watched Lin Evans wonderful "basictexttutorial.avi". Basic Text Tutorial Thank you Lin! Still have a question..... I find that my text is sometimes lost in the clutter of the picture. Is there a way to make the text box opaque so the text can have a mono colored background? Thanks! Dan D. Louisville, Kentucky USA

Wonderful show! Thanks for sharing. If you want to tweak it one day, the zing of a reel stripping line would make a perfect -if staged- sound effect for the shot of the man casting. An occasional slap of a wave on the shore and maybe even a dog bark would just be seasoning on this wonderful meal for our eyes and ears. How about water dripping when we see the oar poised above the water...... Really, it's very nice just as it is. Well worth a look. Peace! Dan D.

Yes you are correct it is a bit busy. As I said, P2E was new to me and with this slide show I was like someone in a new car. I wanted to push all the buttons to see what they did. My text is often lost in the cluttered background of the photos as well but it was a learning experience and I hope future slide shows will have improvements thanks mainly to the great advice in this forum. Also FYI this slide show was my 1st file uploaded to the dropbox.com website. It allows you to upload files for sharing and it has a 2 GIG free limit. I can post a link for if it's allowed in this forum. I am not trying to promote them just sharing a spot on the web where I've found it easy to store large files such as P2E creations. Thanks for looking and for your comments. Peace! Dan D.

Wonderful! Thank you. You inspire me to try many new things!

Please try again. The original link had http at the beginning twice! Now it works.

In August 2005 Hurricane Katrina ravaged the gulf coast especially Louisiana and Mississippi. In January 2006 a group of youth and adults from a small Presbyterian church near my home in Louisville Kentucky USA made the trek to a little town in Mississippi to try and help. We gathered early on Monday morning the day after New Years and loaded up into 3 vans. We returned the following Saturday cold, tired and changed..... I know there are many photos of people. This slide show was one of the very first I've assembled and my aim was to create a keep sake for the people who went on this trip as well as something to show their families at home. I hope there are enough photos of the area to make it interesting to someone who does not know us. The file is about 48 MEG. Mission to Mississippi Comments are appreciated! Thanks! Dan D. Happy Ending! Alena sent me 2 new keys which work perfectly, of course! Thanks for your time and your kind replies! Dan D. USA

Thanks Peter but I've already tried that. P2E reports that my key is invalid or for some other program. The new version won't accept my key. Looking at the key via notepad I see this line--- [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WnSoft\VideoBuilder] so I assume I bought the video builder upgrade in 2008 although I can't remember for sure. FYI I'm running XP pro same as on my previous PC. I just now have larger monitor, faster CPU and much more memory and storage. I have placed the reg.txt file on my desktop and when I launch P2E and the window pops up that says I have a unregistered version I point it at the file but it won't accept it. Have sent an email to orders at wnsoft so I hope they will reply with some info for me. If I could get a version from 2008 running it would be plenty good enough for my needs. Thanks again! Dan D. Greetings! I have been a very modest occasional user of P2E since around 2005. I know I have sent money 2 times to buy upgrades. My latest registration e-mail is dated March 2008. Since that time my old computer has been put in the closet and I am happy to have a much newer one. Problem-- I still have my registration letter and key but cannot seem to find my original P2E program. Is it possible to download an early version that my key will work with?? I don't mind supporting software that I use but I must be honest..... I will likely use P2E to create at most 2 or 3 slide shows that are for my personal use only. Vacation and family photos from the last 3 years. $75 seems a bit steep for software that I'll likely use 2 or 3 times. As I said, I have sent money twice earlier. Are there any older versions archived anywhere? And failing that---- since my last registration is not quite 2 years ago, can I get an upgrade for less than full price?? Thanks for helping a very occasional but appreciative user! Peace!! Dan D. Louisville, Kentucky good ole USA

Yes, what Xaver says is true. You may be blocking an innocent person tomorrow but what will it hurt?? If someone from a blocked IP want's in Igor can un-block their IP at that time. Thanks for the fast action and my complements on the GREAT job you do here. This is after all the 1st spam message I've ever received from this site and that is a remarkable accomplishment!!! Have a great day!! KyDan Louisville, Kentucky USA

This worked wonderfully! I simply copied my 1st slide over so there were 2 of them. Then I added a background color and then deleted the slide. Then I added my title text to the remaining background. Thanks again for helping a newbie. Peace! Dan D.

Please forgive the ignorance of a new user, (or in this case an infrequent user). One question to get me started again. Is there a way to make a blank slide and then add text to it? I just want a way to create a title page. I have in the past created my title pages in some other word processor and then saved them as jpg images but that is clumsy to me. Can PTE make title pages itself? Thanks for your patience and time! Dan D. Louisville, KY good ole USA

Hi Dave, I don't mean to bump an "old thread" back to the top but I am an occasional viewer of the forums. I just popped in after a few months off and found your wonderful Ozarks presentation. As a fellow hiker and person who loves being outdoors I can tell you it made me nostalgic and mellow all at the same time. (Now I MUST get back to making some sense out of my cluttered hard drive. I've got a years worth of photos in there that need organizing and there must be a worthy slide show in there somewhere!) Thanks so much for taking the time and for sharing. I also want to thank you for including some shots of yourself in the show. I always appreciate it when the shows include the author. Now we are not so much strangers but comrades of the woods. Peace! http://www.epetersons.com/slideshows/Upper...gan%2804%29.zip Hi Dave, I thought the show was familiar. You have posted it before?? I enjoyed it again. Some transitions seemed overly long to me but the music was nice and leisurely so the transitions didn't really detract. That paddle wheeler did seem to be going up hill but it's the only one that jumped at me as being out of "kilter". I thought the music fit pretty well too. I enjoyed it. I agree there were lots of shots of the pretty gal and her motorcycle- maybe too many for us strangers but not too many for a family show. I also take and include many shots of family. I have over 2 hours of OLD home movies shot by my dad. These are old Kodak 8mm shot with a wind up movie camera. TWO hours of home movies showing me in a baby chair, my brothers and sister and Aunties and grandparents. Shots of big fish and shots of vacation cabins and new cars.... There are exactly 10 seconds of my dad in there. He NEVER handed the camera to others. I don't know why but I suspect it was just modesty. He wanted shots of US. Now I --wish-- I had footage of him. Don't stop taking pictures of yourself. One day you will be gone or others in the photos will be gone and these family/friends photos and photo shows will be priceless to your family. Thanks for sharing!! Peace! Dan D. Louisville Kentucky USA

Yes, I know it's on Beechbrook BUT some of us here (I can't be the only one!) are new or occasional visitors here. We don't have beechbrook URL memorized. When I am posting messages on various chat/support groups such as this one, IF I refer to another website I always try to give the URL in my message. That makes it simple for the reader to click and go to what ever we are talking about. It's my humble suggestion that it's good protocol to include your URLs in your messages. The person you are replying to may know exactly what you are talking about but what about others who wander in and are also interested in the subject? Remember our conversation about the high number of readers here but low number of downloaded P2E shows..... Let's make it as easy as possible! Just my 2ยข Peace! Dan D. Louisville Kentucky USA

I especially liked the map of your route at the end. Will you tell me how you created that slide??? Is it from mapping software you have purchased or did you use some type of online mapping website?
