  1. Thanks! That is a great leap forward. In fact, that is VERY helpful! And to think what else could be done with that! Double thanks!
  2. Sadly, Picasa Photo Screensaver no longer works with my Windows 8--at least the pan-zoom mode does not work with dual monitors. Solution: Create my screensavers in PTE. ...but... Problem: I love the pan and zoom slide styles but don't want to apply them one by one to hundreds of slides. Question: Is there a way, without going slide by slide, to randomize or create recurring patterns such as zoom in-zoom out-pan left-pan right, etc.? Thanks, jk
  3. Ohhh! Surely you are a saint! It works!
  4. I am able to only run one slide show, exe or scr at a time with two monitors. If one screen is activated that screen will run but the other screen is suspended. I guess the computer or Graphics card makes that decision? Is there a way using one computer two run 2 different simultaneous instances of exe and/or scr?
  5. I found it in Evernote! To use the -display 2 command within a short-cut file. Just create a short-cut file(s) of your slideshow(s). Right-click the short-cut file and select Properties | Shortcut tab. Enter/Edit the -display 2 command at the end of the Target filestring. Play the shortcut file to see the slideshow on display 2 If you made a menu to play the slideshows ... you can use the -display 2 command inside with your button commands.
  6. I think this topic has shown up a least a couple times, even recently, but I cannot find the solution. How do you set up a slide show to start on a secondary monitor? Thanks, JK
  7. Fixed. Thanks again.
  8. Thanks. I wish cookies had been the solution. Unfortunately all my cookies have been eaten. So, any solutions?
  9. I hate to be a bother, but I cannot log in to Slideshow Club now. I am probably doing something silly, perhaps it's a password issue. I tried clicking on "Contact the community administrator" which takes me to an empty screen. Should I just make a new profile?
  10. I imagine the best of both worlds. Leave the button as it is, but have a large, bright, cheery (not too bright or cheery, please) green check mark indicating "mission accomplished"--like install programs often have.
  11. 86 F degrees. No white Christmas here! Melaka, Batu Ferringhi, etc. 4000 photos in the last few weeks. :unsure:/>
  12. I have often wished PTE could have Asian localization and manuals. There are a lot of camera enthusiasts in Japan and China. English is far from universal in those places, However it is common enough that most of the under-40 age group can figure out English menus--and often their reading and writing is quite good. Japanese and Chinese Localization are probably much less important (though easy to do--and enhances initial visual appeal) than having a basic manual. Manuals, even quite basic ones in Mandarin or Japanese could broaden the market in those places. Because of the need for revision, maintaining manuals in such languages could be laborious. The time and energy might be better placed in program development. Just a thought. Other thoughts?
  13. "I got a mule and her name is Sal, fifteen miles on the Eerie Canal." That was the US: Albany to Buffalo. Remember?
  14. Great! I hope you are as happy with yours as I am with mine! Some time back it took me a while to get used to a 23" screen. It was just so BIG! Now I use 2 of them. I will be curious to know how you get along with 30" of it!
  15. Useful and excellent in every way. Good job, Barry. Thanks. jk
  16. I also have wished to be able to do this. There are programs like Ultramon and DiplayFusion (with a free version). You could always create a "windowed" version but that is a really yucky work-around. I would like to know if you get it working! jk
  17. Thanks Igor and friends. PTE is an incredible program. One of these days, surely, PTE is going to get discovered and take the world by storm. You deserve it! jk
  18. I haven't read everything above, but I found the upgrade key thingy to be a bit tricky. Took a few tries. What worked for me was to include the key from the registry like this: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PTE] "Key"="XXXX...[half a mile of numbers and letters]...XXXX" The whole kit and kaboodle. Just copy and paste. Entered just like that (I am not 100% sure exactly what arrangement was successful--but I think that was it). No other combination worked. I tried an old original key and the newest temporary key (dumb choice, but I was willing to try anything) and an in-between(replacement??) key. The in-between key (found in Evernote from Feb 2013 - I LOVE Evernote!) worked for me -- once I got it entered correctly. Then, I got an email saying: While reviewing your order we were unable to reach you on the provided phone number. Please send us a phone number that we can reach you at. We will call you to verify the order and process it promptly. Kind regards, PayPro Sales Right. It was no doubt ringing happily--far away. I am traveling in multiple SE Asian countries. So I bought a SIM card and time which cost more than the upgrade (but I needed the card anyway). I sent that to sales, country codes and all. Sales sent another notice saying: This email is to let you know that your order is being reviewed by our staff before it can be processed. This process usually takes a few minutes, however it may take up to one business day in rare cases. If you wish to expedite the process, please reply to this email with a phone number that we can reach you at and we will call to verify the order. So I re-sent the phone number. I waited awhile. It was late. Past my bed time. No phone call. Before long the sale was approved anyway. YIPPEE!!! The new key works wonderfully! I am a Happy Camper! Thanks Igor et al. jk
  19. My dad uses bandaids over the lights.
  20. I Love that place and love your work.
  21. I have the i7 3630QM and GTX 670. So your system would be faster than mine. I typically might have Lightroom and Photoshop and Outlook and Chrome with a couple dozen tabs open and a half dozen other programs running, and nothing has ever hiccuped yet. I watch almost every show available here or at Beechbrook and so far everything is pretty much as smooth as butter. I miss DOS days. Sort of. Maybe just miss the "old days" when life seemed slower and simpler than now. I'd love to pitch my iPhone and use an old black rotary dial phone. But on the other hand... I remember the joy of my Tandy 1000, little green cursor blinking expectantly. Making my own menu system as a batch file--it got complex and fun [echo. echo. echo.]. Then BASIC--college Linear regression program [END IF]. Then C, all manner of wonderful things [printf("Hello Lin")]. Then html - web design[</body> ]. Then SQL - complex databases with VB clients [sELECT TRIM(' MyStuff ');]. Now...PTE [PanSpeed=1;12000;0;0;1;] Know how fast my "pan speed" is in the kitchen when it's supper time? jk
  22. What iteration of i7? I have an ASUS machine very similar to your specs bought about a year ago at Best Buy. There is always the latest and greatest which is spectacularly expensive. I have a 1.5 TB HDD and an additional 256 GB SSD--I recommend a bigger SSD depending how you use it. Don't skimp--and with a SSD you may have the hassle of keeping data off your C: drive. Keep on eye on power supply size because the system you describe may max it out and with little room for growth. I am completely happy with mine and I work it VERY hard. I do NOT like Windows 8 but discipline myself to use it anyway. It is OK. My screen is 1920 X 1080 and I sometimes use a separate 2nd same-size screen. No problems at all. Your humongous screen will eat up videocard power, but it's not likely a problem. Mine is "canned" but the best I could get at the time. You get the most bang for your buck. I do not like all the garbage-ware stores put on a computer, so I just reformatted the hard drive and started over. Then it was squeaky clean. Didn't take long at all. Win 8 offers more formatting choices than Win 7 - and you have to get it right, but you probably know all about that. 2cents worth jk
  23. Thank you. Good job! The photos are breathtaking. Great poem and narration. It's just good. Thanks again.
  24. Just get this: http://www.7-zip.org/ It will change life as you know it and you will never look back :unsure:/> jk Edit: Oops, I'm a day late and a dollar short. Ken beat me to it.
