  1. Hi Shirley That's fine - it's a powerful versatile package, so just take your time with it and enjoy! Regards wideangle
  2. Hi Shirley Just for info, there is a very easy way to fade out music in the timeline. If you look at the top right-hand corner of the audio track in the timeline, you will see a little black upside-down L shape. Just drag this to the left. there is a similar one at the beginning of the audio track for fading music in. It's this sort of little touch that makes PTE the great package that it is. Regards wideangle
  3. I think that there are two distinct groups of users of PTE. There are those who are aspiring to be expert photographers, belong to camera clubs and enter competitions etc. They are obviously looking to get the best quality in their presentations, and PTE definitely delivers this. Equally they are probably not too interested in DVD quality and are likely to vote as such. The other group of users are, like myself, just people who potter about with photos and don't go much deeper than that. I belong to a ramblers group and get volunteered to take photos while out on walks, which I enjoy doing, then I make copies of dvds as lasting memories, to distribute to everyone. Many of these people don't have equipment which can play from memory sticks, sd cards etc, but just rely on DVD players. Also, they are quite satisfied with the quality they get from their dvds. I use PTE to produce those because of its superb features in the first place and because everything I need is in the one package. Maybe I'm wrong but I suspect that it is the people from the first group who will dictate the outcome of this poll. Regards wideangle Tonton I have made lots of dvds under PTE8 without any problems.
  4. Why not have a look at Photoshop Elements as opposed to Photoshop? Regards wideangle
  5. Thanks for the comments davegee. As I say, I was just trying ideas, but will take them on board when I get a bit more time. I'll upload the simpler version as you suggest. Regards wideangle
  6. I've just been playing around learning about different features in PTE9 and have come up with this. Start a new project, add a 16x9 picture slide and apply the style. Sit back and enjoy........assuming it works! 16x9_11x6_Jigsaw.ptestyle (Replacement)
  7. Hi Xenofex2 When you have the slide style window open in v9, try right-clicking in the different areas (Category tabs, slide style names, Tools button etc). This gives you some idea of the different options available to you to organise and rename the styles and categories. Be aware though that you can't make these kinds of changes to the default categories which you mentioned, as these are protected. Regards wideangle
  8. Much appreciated, Lyn. I'm sure your globe will be viewed and used around the globe! Many thanks Regards wideangle
  9. Thanks for that, Barry - really good. Regards wideangle
  10. I think that the biggest frustration with all of this is in Wnsoft suggesting a possible release time and then it not happening for whatever reason. People then begin to say "well you suggested this date and it hasn't happened. What is going on?". In major changes to a piece of software, as is happening on this particular occasion, the unexpected sometimes happens, or a change proves to be more problematic than was envisaged, so delays inevitably occur. We should all just accept that and wait. The mistake was in Wnsoft suggesting a date in the first place. I feel that no such annoucements should be made at all, then when a new version is released it is both a surprise and a bonus. Regards wideangle
  11. Lin Isn't it just as true that many others are picking up your information when you are using Windows 7, so I don't think that it is a very strong argument for sticking with Windows 7. I'm amazed at the amount of scaremongering that has gone on generally about upgrading to Windows 10. Of course there may be possible software issues which might arise from upgrading, which is a different problem altogether, but just do what I've suggested before -suck it and see. Take a disc image, do the upgrade to Windows 10 and see what happens. if you have problems (which the majority it seems, don't) then just restore your Windows 7 image and use that until you replace your computer. Regards wideangle
  12. Landon You are answering a post that is 9 years old. Regards wideangle
  13. Barry Eg people still running Windows xp are more vulnerable to security issues than those on windows 10. Steven I certainly don't agree with your philosophy of only considering an upgrade if you have problems! Regards Wideangle
  14. If you tried to make a decision on whether to upgrade based on user comments over the last few months you would never be able to decide. The only good advice is to wait until the dust settles on new products then go for it if it is going to move you forward. For me this has been a no brainer while it is free. Find some free software to make a disc image of your hard drive, just in case of problems. Update to Windows 10 and away you go. Superficially you see very little difference so it is easy to get used to. Ok, I've oversimplified the situation! If you do have issues then you just use your disc image and go back to as you were, and think of the best way forward again. Problems are usually associated with older hardware and driver issues, as already indicated above, in which case a new computer at some point is the only real answer. Sticking with an old operating system is only making your system more vulnerable as time moves on. Regards wideangle
  15. I'm not sure that I understand any of the above dialogue! If you are simply asking whether you can buy Picturestoexe, then go to www.wnsoft.com/picturestoexe If you are asking whether there are special offers on the price occasionally, then I am not aware of any. Regards wideangle
  16. I would be pleased to see that as well. Regards wideangle
  17. Dave Sometimes some situations and some people are best ignored. Try to get things in proportion and take the positives - it's obvious just how much support there is for your work and contributions to this forum. Hope to see you back sooner rather than later. Regards wideangle
  18. Hello everyone Lin I use a few of the programs you've listed, including the Photoscape and Videopad freebies. I think people tend to put down freeware too easily as not being quality, but there are some really good ones out there that can be used as tools alongside PTE, if you can stumble on them. Irfanview is good for much more than viewing, and I can spend ages just playing with Fotosketcher! Has anyone else got any graphics/video suggestions that they can add to the melting pot? Regards wideangle
  19. Really impressed with the fantastic zoom to get the pics you would otherwise have missed. It's just disappointing that Nikon couldn't have gone the extra mile to include Raw support. However,it's usually predictable from manufacturers that the next upgrade will include Raw - that's how they keep the sales going! Regards wideangle
  20. Hi DaveG Yes, that's true, but to direct to a specific folder you have to go into File -> Templates -> Manage Templates and set the path before you can go to File -> Templates -> Create Template From This Show. Backup to Zip is just two clicks as a simple Save As, so it's quicker and offers full flexibility of where to save it. I was just pointing out that was my preferred approach because it is quick and gives a backup of your work at the same time. Nothing wrong with templates if you like 'em! I just don't see the need for them. Regards wideangle
  21. Hi MUR Using a template will collect all your slides from different locations and put them into a single folder. That folder is by default on C drive in the ProgramData folder which is a hidden folder in Windows (although you can redefine its location). I don't bother with templates at all. Instead I always do a Backup to Zip for every single project I create. That way I have immediate control of where I save it (usually onto a second drive), can immediately retrieve it, and it's readily available for copying etc etc without having to display hidden folders. Above all I straightaway have a backup of my work, so don't suffer from the kind of problems about lost files sometimes mentioned on the forum. Regards wideangle
  22. My daughter uses an Ipad but I've never been totally sold on it because of the hurdles as above. Lin Your purchase sounds more straightforward and expandable. May I ask which model you were referring to? Regards wideangle
  23. That would be great. I requested a global setting for borders a long long time ago, so this would solve the problem for me. regards wideangle
  24. Hello Denis Many many thanks for that info, and send my thanks to Charlie! I've been pottering about with adding a travel line to a map for some time now and haven't managed to achieve anything which I've found acceptable............until now! The Route Generator program is an absolutely superb solution to the problem and I have achieved the result I wanted in minutes!!!!! Regards wideangle
  25. Igor - Yes that seems OK. Thanks Peter and Igor - I'm always impressed by the quick and positive responses on this forum. Regards wideangle
