  1. Hi Guys, Here's an example from one of my shows a few years ago. This one you may also want to study to see how the circling text was produced. The zipped archive is below the video. Just download the zip file, extract the contents into a folder and load the PTE file and look at the Objects and animations screen. Best regards, Lin http://www.lin-evans.org/example/example.zip
  2. Cool idea Tom! Thanks for the link! Best regards, Lin
  3. Hi Alex, It's one of the many ways PTE objects can be manipulated. Use Dave's New Years Greeting style below. No need to have an image, just apply the style to an inserted blank screen then study the Parent/Child construct in Objects and Animations. Best regards, Lin Happy New Year Style.ptestyle
  4. Jill, Do you mean you have to start the menu manually after each show? Though that will work, it sort of defeats the purpose of having a menu in my opinion. When I create a menu made with a different version of PTE than the exe show and use "run application" to run the exe, when the exe ends the menu has to be called manually to continue with more choices. I suppose that's better than scrolling through a folder looking for the next show, but certainly not as versatile or elegant as using "run slideshow with return." I realize that your executable competition shows are created with myriad different software so this is not something you can use that feature with, but I suspect John, the OP, is referring to PTE shows and not shows made by other software. So if his system has sufficient power to run the video inside the PTE executable container, I think Tom's idea might be his best answer. That is unless there is something I'm totally missing about how to make the menu automatically reappear after the exe or video player exits. Are you saying that if all shows are in a common folder with the menu.exe, that the menu returns without being called? That is when the exe show is over, the menu is still active and you just click it in the task bar? Best regards, Lin
  5. Hi Kieron, I'm doing pretty well I think. My voice has pretty much plateaued I guess. I don't expect much more improvement unless I'm fortunate enough to perhaps get access to a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. If I get VA disability which I'm applying for (takes quite a long time usually) I'll be able to purchase a used one and they have been successful with helping stroke victims regain full speech even years after the event. At least most can understand my speech now even if I sound as if I've been drinking - LOL. Best regards, Lin
  6. A beautiful and sweet children's show !! Thanks, Aleina! Lin
  7. Jill, On none of my systems does "run application" return control to a menu? Lin
  8. Hi John, I'm afraid there is no easy way to do this. With executable code which has been created with the same version of PTE as your menu, you can use buttons or other objects and the feature "run slideshow with return" and as Tom points out you can run the video as an executable if it will play smoothly on your system that way. The problem with running video from a player is that once your video player has finished playing, you must exit manually and there is no practical way to get back to your menu. Best regards, Lin
  9. Thanks Berny, And a very Merry Christmas to you and your family too! Best regards, Lin
  10. Hi Berny, There is the original and two which I modified. The original by Jean Cyprien keeps the book on an angle so I modified it to give a better perspective on images. I also modified the original as a Wedding Style. Below are the three styles you can download. 11. By all means, check everything... Look at the video I embedded above for a few of the possibilities. Only you can decide whether you need PTE or not. As both a Proshow and PTE user I can only tell you my experiences. What is an incontestable fact is that the vast majority of professional audio visual contest winners world-wide use PTE and there are very good reasons. Best regards, Lin
  12. The book style that Jean Cyprien created turns the pages in the plane it was first seen. I modified the style so it allows images to be seen in the flat perspective. What you are demonstrating in your final book demo is done on a regular basis by many using PTE. As I said, there are myriad things possible with PTE which are not possible with Proshow. You might want to watch this video demo I created several years ago as a sample of animations possible. Best regards, Lin
  13. Hi Paul, You will find myriad things that are possible with PTE which can not be done with Producer. Here is an example of the use of a book style which was created by one of our very talented French users Jean Cyprien. It's a full 3 dimensional book, of course something Producer couldn't do. Best regards, Lin
  14. Hi Folks, Years ago we played with opening and shutting shades on a window. I finally got around to creating a style to allow users to open the window shades and see a scene or video through the window, then shut the shades. This style is for a 16:9 aspect ratio project file and you can adjust the position of the image or video via Objects and Animations if needed after applying the style. The style will be found under Lin's Styles when you import it. Here's a brief demo video. Download style below: Lin Lin's Open and Shut Shades.ptestyle
  15. Hi Alex, There are plans for some interesting new text capabilities - perhaps kerning may be possible in the future. It would be nice. Best regards, Lin
  16. Hi Alex, No, kerning is not possible yet with PTE text. You can adjust shadow, font, line spacing, bold, underscore, italic, and for the block of text you can center, left or right justify but not kerning. Best regards, Lin
  17. Beautiful Aleina! Excellent animation! Welcome to the PTE forum and thanks for the great introduction! Best regards, Lin P.S. If you are a Facebook user, please join our Facebook Group and also post your show there. Link below: https://www.facebook.com/groups/picturestoexefans/
  18. Hi David, You are not doing anything wrong. The executable code allows one to control a computer. Unfortunately "video" is quite different and the commands which allow control of a computer can not be used to control video. Even "smart" TV's do not have a CPU which allows the same degree of control as the computer. Perhaps in the future we may be able to create menus for video control, but right not it's not possible. Best regards, Lin
  19. Hi Tonton, In this case, yes, you can do that but there are things which are nice which you can do with black rectangles which can't be done with the built-in shadows. Look at TheDom's Parquet style to see how he uses rectangles for the shadows on the floor as the photos fall. Best regards, Lin
  20. Hi Ron, I'm confused - what type of computer are you using (Macintosh or Windows)? If Windows, just go to File Explore then navigate to where you want to create these folders, right click and choose New, then Folder. Create and name the first folder the navigate to that folder and repeat for any sub-folders. Do this and "rename" the created folders as wanted????? Best regards, Lin
  21. Hi Denis, Thanks !!! Sadly, I've not been able to find the download link. If I use web translate software, I don't have permission to download any files. If I log in on the untranslated French, I can't read well enough to know where to find the download link... Sigh..... Best regards, Lin Thanks Denis - got it !!! Lin
  22. If Michel has updated his Bezier Curve software for Version 9? Thanks, Lin
  23. Just an observation. PTE is by far not the only product which has been having problems with the feature of trimming videos. Because of the variety of CODECs and bugs in them, it's a difficult issue to troubleshoot. The following quote is from a Techsmith forum on Camtasia, the premier video tool for creating and manipulating videos. I "think" Barry uses Camtasia as do several people on the PTE forum... Just saying.... Lin "Does what I need sometimes crashes I bought this because my computer was no longer playing nice with Windows movie maker, and the app they replaced it with was awful. Camtasia does exactly what I need it to do (actually better than movie maker). However, when I get in the flow of trimming video content, it often seems to freeze. The video blacks out and does not come back until I hit save, shut down the program and restart. Luckily no information sees to be lost when this happens, but it is an inconvenience. Otherwise the program is great and I am still learning about all the features."
  24. Continue using PTE 9 when you want to produce a Mac App until the Macintosh version of PTE is released. Yes, it works on the current Macintosh OS but it will NOT work on the latest Mac operating system which is yet to be released. This is why the feature was discontinued. There are major changes being made to Mac which will make what version 9 can create obsolete. The developers have GOOD reasons for discontinuing - you'll have to take the developer's word - they know what they are doing.. Best regards, Lin
  25. Whether the transparency is inherited or not inherited but can be used as an option with inheritance is rather immaterial as long as it's possible to have a parent with zero opacity and children which are visible and vice versa. Being able to have the option is what makes PTE flexible whether the opacity is inherited or not. Perhaps I misread or misunderstood your comment. Did you mean that inheriting transparency might be disadvantageous? If so I can agree that it might make it sometimes difficult for one to understand what what happening.... Best regards, Lin
