  1. How much "security" is there when Windows 10 is sending your information you assumed was private home to Microsoft who is doing God knows what with it? " Microsoft's mandatory data collection is a privacy concern, but it was a privacy concern long before they removed Cortana's off switch. You can, of course, refuse to sign into Cortana or Windows 10 with a Microsoft account. But your usage data will still be collected, albeit anonymously." Just a thought folks... Best regards, Lin
  2. Yes, it seems that the software will not accept the size files which it is supposed to accept. My last show was a 260 meg zipped exe file but SlideshowClub would not accept it even though the limit has been raised to 280 meg... Best regards, Lin
  3. Hi Bert, I also tried several times to upload a rather large zipped file, but under the new limit of 280 mb, but was unsuccessful so I gave up... Best regards, Lin
  4. LOL - I certainly "hope" so! L
  5. Well, here's yet another reason why I won't be using Windows 10: http://www.cnet.com/how-to/cortana-is-mandatory-in-the-windows-10-anniversary-update/ Best regards, Lin
  6. Actually, if you are using the latest version of PTE, it's no longer necessary to keep PTE open to copy and paste a slide with all animations. Just select the slide and either right click and choose copy or use CTRL V and this puts the slide and all associated keyframes on the clipboard. The old way of doing this works fine as described by one of our late PTE guru's "Hawk" - but it's no longer necessary with latest versions... Open the show you want to use this slide in and paste into the slide list. All attributes including styles if any will be preserved. Best regards, Lin
  7. Hi Leon, I agree, and to the credit of Igor and the Wnsoft development team, all registered users of PTE have the option to beta test new products so that all get to see and have experience with new products before they are released. That is not the case for the compeition... Best regards, Lin
  8. Yes, there were 16 for version 8 according to my system and 20 for beta 7. That's the number still residing on my hard drives so probably fairly accurate. IMHO it's not the number of betas which are important it's the amount of time from beta one to beta X which is actually important. The more bugs which are removed during beta test, the better the finished product. It's far too easy for users to complain about the hard work which goes into creating a world-class product. My suggestion for those who think this product is problematic and the development time is excessive is go purchase the competition's product for double the price and see just how long it takes to come running back... I have both and I can assure you that PTE is far superior both in development time and in quality of finished product. Best regards, Lin
  9. Igor has already answered that question. Version 9 will not be a cross-platform version for PC and MacIntosh. The reason it has taken so long is that totally new code had to be written for the new graphical engine and in a language which will support future cross-platform development. As any powerful software matures, it takes more time to develop new and innovative features and improvements. Have patience, Wnsoft has said that beta testing for 9.0 will happen very soon and also that the beta time beginning to product release time will be shorter than in past versions... Best regards, Lin
  10. Hi Viola, Sorry, I don't speak German, but there is a nice "style" which will create the cube for you. From Slide View: Select six images to be in the cube. Next, click on "Slide Style" then click on "Experimental" Next, click on "Apply" and PicturesToExe will create the cube from your six images. In the Objects and Animations screen, the "Control Frame" is used to manipulate this cube. The 3D X and Y axis can be changed at different points on the timeline to control the actions of the cube.
  11. Gary, asking that question is seriously akin to asking why a world class sprinter can run 100 meters in 10 seconds while it may take a world class swimmer 12 seconds to accomplish the same. There are different video engines in Windows Media Player and in PicturesToExe with different capabilities and limitations. Microsoft is a multi-billion dollar company with ample funds to license the latest and greatest video technology for their player. Wnsoft must work within their budget and provide the best quality video tool that their budget will allow. The simple solution for your problem is to convert your MOV file to a format which PicuresToExe works better with. Why do different camera manufacturers use different video formats? Why don't they all use MOV instead of some using MPEG-4, MXF, AVI, etc.? There are reasons which may only be appreciated by the manufacturer's themselves. Perhaps the next iteration of PTE will work better with all MOV files. It may have a different video handling capability, but doesn't it make more sense to simply understand that you have a file which doesn't work - report that and move on to a solution which does work? Best regards, Lin
  12. Excellent demo and great solution!! Best regards, Lin
  13. Hi Craig, Yes, just click on the style in Objects and Animations and set the opacity to zero over time in the timeline to fade it out and begin it with zero opacity then change the opacity over time back to whatever looks best. If you're using one of my rain styles, I believe I have the opacity set to about 8 to 12. The higher the opacity, the more intense the rain and the darker the image. You can adjust the time within your video when the rain begins by just moving the starting keyfame for the rain to the position where you want to fade the effect in. Use Ctrl E to move the entire series of keyframes if you have already programmed the fade in and fade out. Best regards, Lin
  14. Dang, you guys are responding to a 2008 request - LOL... Dave is just saying that it's easy to accomplish what the OP wanted to do with styles... Best regards, Lin
  15. So something like the individual slide's "adjust image and borders" menu pops up in the slide list and is applied to selected slides? That sounds good to me... Lin
  16. Hi Brian, It's difficult to say why this may have been happening - perhaps some minor changes were made in the Android Browser which may eventually be fixed. Nothing has been changed on the PTE forum software so it's likely a browser issue. I'm glad you solved the issue by using Chrome. Best regards, Lin
  17. Hi Ernest, If you could create a small show with this problem then use "File" "Create backup in zip" and post a link to it, we can have a look and see if there is a remedy. Best regards, Lin
  18. Moved from Themes and Styles to General Discussion...
  19. Hi DMaui, With PicturesToExe Deluxe (PTE), unlike with Proshow Producer or any of the other Photodex products, you have multiple, unlimited sound tracks. You get complete envelope waveform control so you can precisely adjust the audio to correspond to virtually any position on your slideshow with precision to one, one thousandth (.001) of a second. With a few mouse clicks you can even convert the audio on a video so that you have the identical control over sound in your videos. At the present time and to my knowledge there is no "country" theme (style) for PicturesToExe but new styles are being created daily and you also have the ability to save any slideshow creation of your own to a style which can be used with a couple keystrokes with any other slideshow you create in the future so that work which you do on one show can instantly be applied to any new show in the future. PicturesToExe Deluxe has unlimited styles and also unlimited transitions because transitions and styles can not only be created by the user but can be saved and used by any other user you make them available to. With PictureToExe you also have unlimited layers, unlimited objects and most importantly true three dimensional transforms allowing the user to make creations which are simply not possible with other products. You also have multi-layer parent/child relationships which allow doing things simply not possible with the competition. Right now there are several users creating beautiful styles, many of them are free and some available at very reasonable prices. Perhaps one of our users who create styles will create a country style for you - it's not a terribly difficult thing to do. The wonderful thing about this program is that the only limitations are in the mind of the user. You can quickly create a beautiful slideshow for weddings, family, friends, etc., and if you are so inclined you can create some amazing animations just for fun. I post to YouTube under the pseudonym of "Icejasper" and often I create fantasy shows with PicturesToExe just for fun. Recently I uploaded another which I titled "What Can I Do With PicturesToExe" Here is a link to give you an Idea of some of the unusual things you can do with this product in addition to ordinary and beautiful conventional slideshows: Best regards, Lin
  20. Hi Dom, Congrats to your Dad!!! Good idea - Fun concept for sure! Best regards, Lin
  21. Hi Leon, Looks good - I think you're getting the hang of it quickly! This is a blast from the past... Back near Christmas of 2008 Tom began working on the idea of creating a Gram-0-Phone with PTE. He and I conspired over a week or so and we came up with some novel ways to use PTE. This is the culmination of that effort and I just stumbled across the exe and thought it would be nice to see what could be done with PTE even eight years ago - so here it is folks - the PTE Gram-0-Phone. Regretfully, it's only in Windows format because I've not been able to recover all the original files to update it to MacIntosh... I believe Tom had an even more sophisticated version but the link to it is no longer active - perhaps he will be able to find it and post the example here. The "Reload" button will start things over. If left alone after clicking on the selection "A" button, the Gram-O-Phone will sequentially play all songs. You have the option of clicking on any of the selection buttons and playing that song. Clicking on the "Power" button will shut it down and exit. Have fun!!! Just for the record, the timing was set to be realistic with 78 revolutions per minute on the platter. http://www.lin-evans.org/gramophone/gramophone2.zip.. Lin
  22. Jeff. Copy the return and paste it when PTE asks for a registration code... PTE keycodes have changed several times over the years so what you remember may not resemble what you now see. Best regards, Lin
  23. Hi Tom, Actually, there are sometimes good reasons for not rushing to upgrade operating systems or the latest and greatest version of Photoshop CC. For example, a number of people who are currently upgrading to Windows 10 and Photoshop CC are having fits with getting some of their other mainstream software to work properly with the combination. Software which worked just fine with Windows 8.1 and earlier and with earlier versions of Photoshop. A number of plugins which worked with earlier versions of Photoshop are now inoperable. Panos, of PanosFX had to rewrite a number of his very good actions because of a bug in Photoshop CC which took nearly a year for Adobe to resolve. Obviously, as time goes on and technology advances we must install newer versions of operating systems as well as upgrading our application software to avail ourselves of newer hardware innovations which are not supported in earlier versions. The problem is deciding when. It's like buying a first run edition of a new automobile design. There are almost always issues which get ironed out over time. So whether to jump immediately from a very stable and plugin friendly version such as Windows 7 to Windows 10 or wait until one is certain that the majority of bugs are ironed out and then upgrade becomes the issue. There are some issues with the newer operating systems which are truly exasperating. For example, how about when you want to search for a file which you know should be in a particular folder but can't find it. With Windows XP you can tell the OS that you want to search only in a particular folder on a particular drive. How does one tell Win 8.1 to do that? I haven't yet discovered a way. Because Win 8.1 now has indexed search that shouldn't be an issue, but it is. In my experience Win 8.1 doesn't alway find files which I know are on my drive. I can go to the drive and find them only because I remember their full name and extension, but the indexed search, even after a fresh re-index, fails to find them. It's not always a straight-forward and easy job to decide IMHO... Best regards, Lin
  24. Thanks Dave, Makes more sense now to me... Best regards, Lin
  25. I really don't see how it could be too useful when there isn't a real way to know which slides are actually being used in the style. For example, Jean Cyprien's rubik cube style uses seven images but creates 25 images - of course it's pretty easy in this case to realize that the slides are used in a style because most resemble each other in one way or another. There are so many nuances and variables that it might be easier to identify slides which are not being used in a style by placing a small letter such as "A" for available??? Best regards, Lin
